SPEAR GRADUATE COACH Responsible to: Spear Centre Manager Liaises with: Lead Coach, Centre Manager, Partner Church Vicar, referral agencies (JobCentre Plus and local support agencies) and young people. To develop coaching skills to enable excellent delivery of Spear Foundation at the partner church to the highest possible standard, to provide administrative support to the Lead Coach and Centre Manager and to do so as an expression of the Christian life and faith. As part of our growth model Resurgo-Spear works in partnership with the local church, of which the Graduate Coach will become an active member.
Responsibilities Building coaching skills and assisting in the training room Training and development of coaching skills through Coaching for Leadership and learning from the Lead Coach, becoming confident with the Spear curriculum and wider programme. Assisting with training room coaching and trainee discipline, teaching an increasing proportion of programme material as coaching skills are developed. Office Administration Providing administrative support, preparing the training room and programme resources for the team. Spear Career Support Assisting the Lead Coach with the delivery of Spear Career for past Trainees, monitoring and maintaining records on their outcomes and reporting these to the Centre Manager. Providing regular follow-up appointments for past Trainees after they have completed Spear Foundation. Active participation in Resurgo s team To help build and develop Resurgo s ethos and Christian life as a team member including leading and contributing to regular prayer meetings, at both Resurgo and the Partner Church, as an integral part of Resurgo s operation and for the success of its mission. Church Community Liaison To build a strong and committed network of supporters in the partner church in order to help source employment, funding and volunteer opportunities for the charity alongside developing the engagement and backing of the church members. This will involve establishing a personal presence within the community as your regular place of worship. It may entail speaking at church Sundays, meetings and events and also providing information for church communications. Reporting back to the Centre Manager on any opportunities for engagement with the wider church. Co-ordination of Spear Celebration Events Arranging Spear Celebration events in line with established processes including assigning staff roles, organising volunteers, and making sure all equipment and resources are in place.
Person Specification Ability to personally represent the Christian values of Resurgo Heart for working with young people and commitment to transforming urban communities Effective interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence Excellent communication skills Self-motivated with the ability to exercise initiative Enthusiasm for the practice and understanding of coaching and training techniques Excellent administration and organisational skills with an eye for detail Good time management skills with ability to prioritise workload Works well under pressure and meets deadlines Excellent telephone manner Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access and PowerPoint competent Accurate and efficient in typing and work methods Working Requirements 12 months fixed term contract Active church membership of the partner church maybe required- to be discussed at interview Monday Friday 9.30am - 5.30pm Occasional evenings per term (for events such as Spear Celebration evening as well as fundraising events for both the affiliated Spear Trust and Resurgo) Occasional staff development and training events 25 days annual leave and time off between Christmas and New Year Participating in the wider staff team at the Partner Church including taking an active part in staff and prayer meetings and key events A DBS check will be requested in the event of a job offer
