1 Dear candidate, April 2018 I am delighted that you are interested in learning more about Frontline and the role of Regional Coordinator for this Social Work Charity. At least half a million children in England don t have a safe or stable home. These children and their families face some of the worst life chances, but we know that great social work has the power to change this. That s why Frontline was set up as a charity in We recruit and develop outstanding individuals to be social workers and leaders to transform the lives of the most vulnerable children and families. We also develop first line managers through our prototype of Firstline, our leadership programme for those directly managing practitioners. Our Fellowship network supports all individuals that complete extended leadership development programmes with us, they are a group of outstanding leaders working towards our collective mission. Frontline is continuing to grow and expand its impact. As we embark on this new stage in the organisation s development we are looking to recruit someone to coordinate and a number of key areas crucial to the delivery of the programme, with this 0.5 post based in Birmingham (Midlands Region). This includes meetings and events with our local authority partners and organising the logistics for ongoing training series held within the region for the social workers involved in the programme. The role will also provide administrative support to the regional team and input to the national programme in negotiation with the Head of Region e.g. during the Summer Institute. 2 Regional Coordinator (Midlands) Background Our mission is to transform the lives of vulnerable children by recruiting and developing outstanding individuals to be leaders in social work and broader society. We want to see a country where children s life chances are not determined by social or family circumstance and we know that social work is at the forefront of the effort to realise this. The Frontline programme that qualifies social workers comprises an intensive Summer Institute, two years in a local authority frontline social work team, and leadership development throughout. Participants are placed in units of four in local authorities and are led by Consultant Social Workers (CSWs) in child protection teams. The first cohort of over 100 participants started the programme in July 2014 working in Greater London and Greater Manchester. We are now in our fourth year of running the programme, and 352 participants will start this summer, working across London and the South East, North West, North East and the Midlands. Our Firstline programme develops the leadership skills of first line social work managers. The first cohort of 37 Firstline Leaders began the programme in autumn 2015, and by 2020 a further six cohorts will have completed the programme. The Frontline Fellowship which includes all individuals that complete extended leadership development programmes with Frontline is a movement network that supports our participants to lead change in social work and broader society of outstanding individuals who are applying themselves to address social disadvantage in different ways. Frontline is a Social work charity. We have an entrepreneurial approach, where constructive challenge is positively welcomed and a culture of feedback is actively promoted. Through strong pro-bono partnerships, Frontline is able to access excellent development opportunities for its employees. This includes training, mentoring and coaching from experts from the world of social work, charities, private sector and beyond. The Opportunity The Regional Coordinator will coordinate meetings, events and training. They will also track and monitor the progress of key stages of the programme, including ensuring partner local authority set up activities are running to plan and participants on the programme have completed key tasks within timeframes. The role requires someone who is skilled at building positive relationships with people in addition to being highly organised with the ability to manage multiple areas of work and use initiative to resolve issues. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is also essential. The Team Frontline delivers its programme through regional teams. These are led by Head of Region and comprise Practice Tutors who deliver the academic programme to participants in their region. Each region will have a Relationship and Development Manager to manage the relationships with the local authorities, and Regional Coordinator to support the team. Frontline currently operates in the following regions in England: London, the North West, the North East, the Midlands and South Central. Midlands currently comprises Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Solihull, Warwickshire, Coventry, Leicester City, Leicestershire and Derbyshire

3 Regional Coordinator: Job description Job Title: Regional Coordinator (Midlands) Reports to: Head of Region (Midlands) Start date: ASAP Location: Birmingham Salary: 20,000 (pro rata) plus competitive pension Closing date: 4 May 2018, midnight Supporting the Regional Team Provide all aspects of administrative support to the regional team. Provide logistical and administrative support to the Head of Region (as required). Arrange all Programme Team meetings; book internal meeting rooms; prepare agenda and papers; take minutes & circulate within a timely manner. Coordinate and organise any other meetings as required, including collating agendas, and taking minutes as required. Work with other teams at Frontline to help design, plan and manage upcoming events. Research and scope venues for a range of activities that take place within the region. Manage budget for venues to ensure that all costs are within or under budget. Book meeting rooms and arrange logistics & refreshments, ensure that clear information is provided to all delegates. Send out meeting invitations, track attendance and send chasing reminders. Tracking and Monitoring of Local Authority partnerships Provide logistical and administrative support to the Relationship & Development Manager in setting up meetings with new local authorities to give them information about signing up with the Frontline Programme. Track all aspects of local authority preparations for new units to go live each year. Log and track, all applications for the Consultant Social Worker posts in each Local Authority, and provide information and support to candidates applying. Support the Relationship & Development Manager in the coordination and delivery of Consultant Social Worker recruitment and assessment days across the region. Provide logistical support to Consultant Social Worker assessment centres. Send out key communications to local authorities for programme-wide events. Liaise and communicate with Local Authorities throughout this process to ensure all tasks that are due are actioned. Coordination of participants on the programme Support the regional team with the allocation of participants to local authorities and ensure allocations are accurately communicated with participants on the programme. Plan and organise regional participant events during the course of the year i.e. Regional Induction. Support the Relationship & Development Manager in dealing with queries for all new participants and existing participants on the programme. Be part of the wider team coordinating the 5 week Summer Institute, and on designated days staff the general enquires desks. Database Administration Manage the local authority and participant contacts on the Salesforce data base, and ensure these are regularly updated (training will be given). Regularly update the internal Programme Team Tracker for the region. Create and update all reports required by the Programme Team.

4 General Administrative Tasks Management of the Programme folders, ensuring this is organised in a clear and coherent manner. Answer queries about Frontline by , telephone and face-to-face. Manage the participant in box. Respond to general queries and escalate complex queries as required. Lead on all logistical arrangement for venues, transport etc. for ad-hoc events, dinners, speakers. Support the team with general IT tasks and queries. Manage all financial administration for the Programme Team. Support Programme Team with other ad hoc projects.

7 Recruitment process Safe Recruitment Procedure Frontline is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. In order to meet this responsibility, it follows a rigorous selection process to discourage and screen out unsuitable applicants. This process is outlined below, but can be provided in more detail if requested. Disclosure This post is classified as having substantial access to children, and appointment is subject to an enhanced police check of previous criminal convictions (DBS). Applicants are required, before appointment, to disclose any conviction, caution or binding over including spent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order Nondisclosure may lead to termination of employment. However, disclosure of a criminal background will not necessarily debar individuals from employment this will depend upon the nature of the offence(s) and when they occurred. Shortlisting, interviews and reference checking Only those candidates meeting the right criteria will be taken forward from application.
