NUCLEAR INSTITUTE Join the inner circle of nuclear engineers A NEW PATH TO GROWTH

TRANSMIT our knowledge TRAIN a new generation of engineers CREATE a community of experts DESIGN more reliable energy solutions DEVELOP our safety culture THE FUTURE OF A TRADITION Assystem has been operating in the nuclear industry since 1966. Our engineering activities are growing strongly in this sector, reinforcing our position as a leader in Europe. The company is working closely with its traditional clients - EDF, Areva and CEA in investment projects in nuclear power in France, R&D programmes such as ITER, and the development of new power reactors. Internationally, the creation of n.triple.a (the Nuclear Atkins Assystem Alliance) in partnership with the British engineering company Atkins, is opening up access to new markets in the Middle East, South Africa and Eastern Europe By consolidating our position in France through new projects, Assystem and all its employees can benefi t from tremendous growth and career opportunities. Our deep-seated culture of nuclear safety together with our skills in managing complex programmes underwrite our leading position in the engineering market, and drive our success in this market. OUR AREAS OF EXPERTISE: Safety/Radiation Protection/Risk-aggression Operating Reactors/System Research Nuclear Systems Design Command & Control Operations Maintenance/Support for the Reactor Base Decommissioning Construction - Tests/Regulatory issues

The experts all agree: If we don t start thinking ahead, there will be an energy defi cit 2050 and unprecedented climate change. At Assystem, we are doing this already. We aim to share our collective technical knowledge - recognized worldwide with the younger generation. To achieve this, we have created Assystem Nuclear Institute inside the Group. We share, train, and teach younger colleagues who will be addressing the technology challenges of the coming decades. We bring our experts together with those who will be called to become. We help new recruits join the inner circle of nuclear engineers. They may well live to see a much cleaner form of energy - more powerful, safer and above all inexhaustible. Our goal is to design courses tailored to our Clients Major Projects At the ANI, you will meet fellow engineers with whom you can develop a unique network of knowledge. And not just future members of your team but also our managers, who lead the action in our Institute Our challenge is to train the younger generation in the special features of nuclear power, and successfully transfer skills from the old guard who comissioned today s plants to the newcomers who will ensure the continuity of tomorrow s nuclear industry Martine Griffon-Fouco (Member of the Management Board of Assystem) The Assystem Nuclear Institute is an individual and collective path to growth Serge Le Gall (Director Skills & Crafts) Being an engineer with Assystem means acquiring capabilities that create our own value-add Celine Wan, Business Manager (ENSAM)

ASSYSTEM PLAYS A ROLE AT EVERY STAGE IN THE NUCLEAR FUEL CYCLE Research facilities Mining Enrichment N ITER Uranium conversion Waste retrieval and conditioning Repro Decommissioning BUILDING TOMORROW S NUCLEAR ENGINEERING INDUSTRY Research Facilities Our engineers play a key role in designing the next generation of nuclear power plants. Uranium Mining, Conversion, Enrichment and Reprocessing Assystem engineers have a long track record of managing the complete fuel cycle for nuclear plants, from supplying the uranium to reprocessing the spent fuel. Building, Operating and Maintaining Nuclear Plants Our engineers support utilities providers in building, commissioning and maintaining their plants to achieve the highest possible productivity under optimum conditions. Waste Retrieval and Conditioning Assuring the long-term storage of nuclear waste in line with the strictest safety criteria is one of our key responsibilities. Plant Decommissioning Specialist engineering knowledge and skills are required to dismantle end-of-life nuclear plants safely and effectively to meet international standards.

PP cessing CURRENT PROJECTS WITH OUR CLIENTS INCLUDE: ITER Assystem is a major consulting and engineering partner alongside Atkins with a permanent staff of 100 in this very large-scale international nuclear fusion project involving seven major participants (Europe, China, India, Russia, United States, Japan, and Korea) and a budget of 7.5 billion. ITER will be a prototype plant for nuclear fusion offering a test bed to explore the implications of this potentially infi nite source of alternative power and very low waste quotient. The Assystem-led consortium won a contract worth 150 million, the largest ever gained by an external service provider in this industry and a strong sign of recognition of our qualities and capacities in the world of nuclear engineering. LMJ (LASER MEGAJOULE) Assystem is working closely with CEA (the French nuclear technology research organization) on a 2 billion military nuclear programme for simulating nuclear explosions. GEORGES BESSE 2 The company is building a new uranium enrichment plant at Pierrelatte (FR) using a new process involving substantial investments; Assystem is providing critical engineering resources for this new venture. CEA At Cadarache in the south of France, CEA is facing the critical issue of handling nuclear waste in an effi cient, responsible way. Among other missions with the French nuclear government agency, Assystem is helping to upgrade the plant and build new installations that address these concerns. EPR TM The European Pressurized Reactor project is a new generation of pressurized water reactor replying to the latest safety standards. Assystem is a major consulting and engineering partner and has a staff of 200 involved in this new generation of plants. SELLAFIELD (UK) We have worked with Sellafi eld Ltd (formerly BNFL) for many years, successfully providing engineering consultancy services ranging from front-end conceptualisation studies and the detailed design of new plant and equipment required for all aspects of nuclear decommissioning and production operations. JNF LTD (JAPAN) The construction of the Rokkasho-Mura processing plant in Japan is based on the La Hague example and required technology transfer from AREVA to JNFL, the Japanese operator. This involved training Japanese staff at La Hague, and posting French expatriates to Japan. Areva commissioned Assystem to provide JNFL with its experience and know-how in starting up fuel reprocessing plants.

The ASSYSTEM INSTITUTE is an internal training centre founded in 2008 to federate the training programmes of each of the company s business sectors. It aims at enabling Assystem s employees to progress in their career development in order to better satisfy the market needs and offer exceptional quality services to its customers. assystemnuclear.institute@assystem.com www.assystem.com
