ABOUT MILK POWDER The task of packaging these products is a particularly challenging one and requires a good deal of on-the field-expertise in material handling. In various degrees, and according to the environmental conditions (e.g. temperature, humidity etc) these products can be: Fluidizing or building bridges Hygroscopic product, with a tendency to solidify. CONCETTI EXPERIENCE Concetti produces automatic weighing and bagging machines for the milk powder, weighing from 5 to 50 kg. These are completely automated machines that are able to process preformed open mouth bags. Another packaging systems developed by Concetti, is the filling machine for big bags containing over 1500 kg of milk powder at production rate of 10 big bags an hour.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY. Mr. Brad Billmann, Operations Manager at Milk Products The project involved replacing 1940 s and 50 s vintage equipment with its state of the art Concetti counterparts. Large quantities of milk solids and other ingredients to form powdered milk requires a significant amount of time and energy, so efficiency and dependability of the overall process including the packaging systems are critical. Because a successful and timely installation was critical to Milk Products operation, Billmann and the Milk Products team looked to the Concetti Group for extensive project preplanning and design options. Before a single wrench touched the first bolt, we needed to be sure every aspect and contingency had been addressed.

TECHNICAL DETAILS: CONTROLLED ATMOSPERES Air contains oxygen at 21%, which causes the product oxidation, fermentation and eventual bacterial and aerobic organism growth. To reduce oxigen concentration in the bags you need to dilute residual oxygen blowing in inert gases, such as nitrogen, to preserve the product.

The bag is transferred to the closing station and a Second deaerating probe is inserted to eliminate the residual air between the product and the bag mouth. SECOND DEAERATRING PROBE

The probe is removed and the PE-liner bag upper edge is heat sealed. This device blows air on the rim of the bag to remove milk powder sticking on the inner walls of the PE bag and ensures a tight sealing. SECOND DEAERATRING PROBE

The most common techniques to protect the full pallet are: END-OF-LINE PALLET PACKAGING STRETCH HOOD MACHINE This machine applies a flexible film hood onto the full pallet. The film hood is stretched to a dimension matching the exact outer circumference of the full pallet and is applied over the load and released underneath the pallet. This ensures a reliable hold between the pallet and the load, and secures the pallet for storage and transport. WRAPPING MACHINE The stretch wrapping machine will wrap the full pallets with stretch film in order to secure the load to the pallet to facilitate their transport. The new generation of wrapping machines can effect a wrapping system using film pre-stretch system controlled by a tacho generator, guaranteeing prestretching to 400%.

GROSS/C TYPE BIG BAG FILLING MACHINES All parts in contact with the product, are constructed in stainless steel. Up to 10 big-bag/hour (1500 kg).

TURN-KEY BAGGING LINES One supplier for the whole packaging process. On all machines, the changeover from one bag programme to another is made through the PLC and operator panel in just 90 seconds without the use of any tools. This rapid switchover results in higher average outputs when compared to machines that have higher outright speed but require extended downtime between products, sometimes involving several change parts and lengthy setups.
