From AMG to Actros. The complete Apprenticeship Programme from Mercedes-Benz.

Why the Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship Programme? The Mercedes-Benz Apprentice Programme gives you: A career to put you alongside some of Britain s brightest young talent A career with one of the world s most prestigious companies A chance to earn while you learn Mercedes-Benz are searching for bright and ambitious young stars to join their Apprenticeship Programme to train as a Parts Operations Specialist, Passenger Car Technician or Commercial Vehicle Technician. Parts Operations Specialist The role of a Parts Operations Specialist is diverse. You ll be working both behind the scenes receiving deliveries, and at the front desk serving Mercedes-Benz customers. You ll learn skills in how to manage stock, process orders and organise displays to promote our vehicle parts. Passenger Car Technician As a Passenger Car Technician your work will initially focus on service maintenance, carrying out routine maintenance and basic repairs. You will then progress to complex fault diagnosis and repair, using Mercedes-Benz specialist diagnostic equipment. Commercial Vehicle Technician Studying on the Commercial Vehicle Technician scheme you will learn to diagnose and repair faults through practical and theoretical learning. You will be trained to carry out the frequent routine maintenance required of heavy vehicles and you ll learn how to use our STAR diagnostic equipment.

Do you have what it takes to become a star? Working for the famous three-pointed star at one of our Truck, Van or Car Dealerships you could be a part of one of the best apprenticeship training schemes in the UK, training at the state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz National Apprentice Academy. So what s involved in the apprenticeship programme? Below we answer some of the questions you may have. What is an apprenticeship? An apprenticeship is an excellent opportunity to gain qualifications and experience. You will earn as you learn and gain practical skills in the workplace. What career opportunities are there with a Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship? We make every effort to provide you with the opportunity of a long-term career with Mercedes-Benz. Many of our former graduates are continuing to enjoy a rewarding career with Mercedes-Benz and we are proud that we have a 60% retention rate after 10 years service. Does it cost anything to become an apprentice? No. The National Apprenticeship Service will fund between 50-100% of your apprenticeship training, depending on your age (16-24). Your employer will pay any remaining contributions. Will I earn a salary? Yes. As an apprentice you are considered a full-time employee and you will receive a highly competitive wage, which is subject to National Minimum Wages for apprentices. How long is the programme? The programme is delivered over a 3-year period. It incorporates National Qualifications up to Level 3 and a tailored Mercedes-Benz Competence element, which ensures your continued development.

What qualifications will I be taking? On successful completion you will gain Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) certificates for Level 2 and 3 VCQ (Vocational Competent Qualification delivered in the workplace) and VRQ (Vocational Related Qualification delivered at the Mercedes-Benz Apprentice Academy). You will also gain skills in Maths, English and IT. Together, these qualifications contribute to an Apprenticeship Framework, so you ll receive a certificate for this too! Where will I be working? Mercedes-Benz has Dealerships all across the UK and therefore, if successful in the recruitment process, you will be placed as an apprentice at a site local to you for your workplace training, and you will attend the academy for the additional training aspects of your programme. Where is the academy? How often will I go there? The academy is a purpose built Apprentice Training Centre at the Mercedes-Benz Head Office site in Milton Keynes. If you are on the Parts Programme you will attend the academy for six, one-week blocks, each year, for two years. For our Technician Programme it would be ten, one-week blocks, for each of the two years. Will I be provided with accommodation? Yes. Mercedes-Benz Apprentices are provided with their own rooms at a hotel near to the academy. You can also enjoy a range of entertainment activities throughout the week in the Mercedes-Benz games room. Perhaps you d prefer to work out in the gym then relax in the steam room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are also provided. What if I get ill or have any problems when I am away from home? Mercedes-Benz is committed to ensuring you feel as comfortable and confident as possible when you are away from home. You will be assigned a Student Liaison Officer to support you during your time with us and a 24-hour telephone helpline. What happens when I finish the programme? All successful apprentices are invited to celebrate their achievement at a prestigious graduation event and some of you may even be recognised at the Apprentice of the Year Awards.

What do our apprentices say about the programme? The apprenticeship gave me a head start on my university friends in terms of work experience. It also gave me the opportunity and confidence to pursue my passion as a career. I d advise anyone to consider an apprenticeship as a serious option. Don t be put off if you haven t got any experience in the motor industry Mercedes-Benz are looking for people with potential Kelly Tredgett Parts Operations Specialist I chose the Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship over A-Levels and I haven t looked back since. I get to work towards academic qualifications and earn at the same time. Plus, I ve had the chance to specialise in the Mercedes-Benz brand and learn a variety of skills from the experienced staff. It s challenging but I know if I work hard there are long-term career opportunities Courtney Nelson-Ford Apprentice Technician You learn so much both at work and college and on this programme you not only get your national qualifications, you get a specialist Mercedes-Benz qualification too, which is fantastic for my CV. I expected to be making the teas and cleaning up after the other technicians but that s not the case at all Chris Stanley Apprentice Commercial Vehicle Technician

What does our Apprentice Academy Operations Manager have to say about the Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship Programme? Undertaking an apprenticeship is the first step of a career ladder that can take you as far as you are willing to climb. When you successfully complete your 3 year apprenticeship you will do so in the knowledge that Mercedes-Benz qualified Technicians and Parts Advisors are amongst the most highly respected in the motor industry. We believe in a philosophy of lifelong learning, and whether your ultimate aim is to be the best Diagnostic Technician in the workshop, the best Parts Advisor in the department, or whether your ambition is to progress on to a management role, then it is our intention to supply you with the learning skills to get you to where you want to go. We know that the future of the Mercedes-Benz network is dependent on the calibre of the apprentices we train which is why we have invested over two million pounds in a purpose built Academy to ensure that you have the best learning experience possible. Lee Passmoor Apprentice Academy Operations Manager

Still Interested? Below, we explain the application process. What qualifications do I need? An interest in the motor industry is essential and ideally you will be predicted, or have achieved, GCSE grade C or above in Maths, English Language and IT. All successful applicants will also be required to complete aptitude tests to help ensure the programme can offer you the support you need. How do I apply? To apply for an Apprenticeship with Mercedes-Benz, please visit www.mercedes-benztraining.co.uk/apprenticeships. Click apply to find opportunities in your area. Applications are invited between January and August. If there are no vacancies in your area, try approaching a local independent dealership. Vacancies are constantly updated, so please do check back if there are no listings in your area initially. If you can find a placement with a Mercedes-Benz specialist, you may still be able to join the Mercedes-Benz Apprentice Programme. What happens with my application? Once applications have been reviewed, shortlisted applicants will be contacted for a telephone interview. Suitable applicants will then be asked to complete three online assessments. Applicants who progress through this stage will be invited to attend an interview at the dealership. We d recommend taking your time whilst completing the online application form to give yourself the best opportunity of being shortlisted. What do the online assessments involve? The online assessments consist of a series of short aptitude tests. These are multiple choice and will take roughly 15 minutes each to complete. Don t worry, we will provide you with guidance on the assessments beforehand. When will I know my results from the assessments? You will be given three working days to complete the online assessments. Once this has been completed your results will be calculated and sent to the recruiting manager at the dealership. All candidates will be contacted within five working days of completing the assessments to be informed if we will be inviting you to attend an interview at the dealership. Guidance will be given to you along the way with information on how to prepare for the interview. How long will the application process take? Vacancies are advertised from January onwards, with new positions regularly added. We intend to have all telephone interviews completed within three weeks of the vacancy closing date. We aim to have all vacancies recruited by August, with a view to starting at the Mercedes-Benz Apprentice Academy in September. This may sound like a long time but don t worry, you will be kept informed of your progress on a regular basis throughout the process.
