Keynote Lecture Application of SCC to Dam Construction, an example of technology and business model development Xuehui An Professor Department of Hydro science and Engineering, Tsinghua University, China Dr. Xuehui An is a Professor of Department of Hydro science and Engineering, Tsinghua University, China. He received his Doctor of Engineering degree from The University of Tokyo in 1996. His major are structural concrete mechanics and concrete materials. His recent research interests include self-compacting concrete (SCC) and rock filled concrete (RFC), smart manufacture and testing technology of concrete and life-span performance evaluation of concrete structures. In the past few years, he has served as a deputy chair of Building Waterproofing Technical Committee, Associating of Engineering Construction Standardization in China (CECS) and a council member of Beijing Hydraulic Engineering Society. Since 2016, Prof. An is serving as a deputy director of the Office of Scientific R&D, Tsinghua University. Prof. An is a founder and chief scientist of Sinoconfix Co. Ltd., a leading concrete technology company in China. Keynote Lecture Innovative Design and Construction for New Expressway Bridges in Japan Prestressed Concrete Bridges, Composite Bridges with Prestressed Concrete and Steel Hideaki Sakai Senior Expert in Bridge Engineering Engineering/Construction Headquarters, Central Nippon Expressway Company Limited, Japan Dr. Hideaki Sakai is a Senior Expert in Bridge Engineering of Engineering/Construction Headquarters at the Central Nippon Expressway Company Limited, Japan. He received his Doctor of Engineering from The Nihon University in 2006. His majors are planning/designing of prestressed concrete bridges and composite bridges with prestressed concrete and steel. His recent research interests include diagnosis of stay cable systems, non-destructive tests of stay cables, and evaluations of the performance of prestressed concrete bridges. He has carried out planning and designing of many bridges as an engineer of the expressway company. He has planned and designed the hybrid extradosed bridges, a composite cablestayed bridge, and prestressed concrete box girder bridges by precast segmental construction. He is serving as a Chair of Committee on Guidelines for Maintenance of Prestressed Concrete Bridge of Japan Prestressed Concrete Institute (JPCI), a Committee Member of Technical Standard Committee of JPCI, a Committee Member of Guidelines for Renewal Precast Prestressed Concrete Slab, and a Committee Member of Standard Specification for Concrete Structural Materials and Construction of Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE).
Keynote Lecture Sustainability A maxim for the human society and a challenge for civil engineers Harald S. Müller Professor Division of Natural and Built Environment, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany Dr.-Ing. Harald S. Müller is professor for building materials and concrete structures at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KIT (formerly: University of Karlsruhe), Germany. He received his academic education and his doctoral degree in civil engineering from the University of Karlsruhe in 1986. After several years in engineering practice in Berlin he returned to the University of Karlsruhe in 1995, where he became a full professor. His research covers a wide area within structural concrete and design. Major subjects are creep and shrinkage, service life design, durability and sustainability. Prof. Müller is an elected member of the National Science Foundation of German (DFG) and is active in various national and international scientific and technical commissions. He is currently the President of the International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib) and a convenor within CEN Eurocode 2 revision. Further, he serves in Germany as a court admitted sworn expert for concrete structures. As a managing partner of the SMP Society of Engineers of Constructions Ltd in his side job, he is mainly involved in the rehabilitation and strengthening of concrete structures.
