You will work within the principles of the Wheatley Group strategy and vision regarding supporting the people we work for to influence direction and development of Loretto Care. You will be based within the established Community Engagement and Activities Team. You will maximise involvement in all areas of community integration to promote and support wellbeing and quality of life for older people living the Knightswood area of Glasgow. You will develop and deliver community mapping to build on community integration. You will develop your knowledge of the Knightswood area to be a central contact point to signpost older adults to appropriate services, support and community groups. You will support people, local housing and care teams, and partners in the community to develop resources ensuring there is a shared awareness and understanding of legislation affecting older adults and what is available in the community. As a Community Engagement and Activities Coordinator you are expected to carry out your duties in line with the Organisation s Core Values and your terms and conditions of employment, while presenting in a way that is in line with the Codes of Practice laid out by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). Person Specification Experience Essential Experience of working with vulnerable people and or life experience in supporting individuals who have Learning Disabilities, Addictions, Mental Health Issues, Children and Families, Tenancy Support or Homelessness issues. Enthusiasm and genuine interest in working with vulnerable people of various ages. Take a non-discriminatory approach Experience of community engagement and integration Experience of creating and facilitating group work Experience of community mapping, signposting and partnership working Desirable Experience of working as part of a team in a care setting IT skills Innovative and creative approach/problem solving skills Qualifications Essential Demonstrate the commitment and ability to work towards and achieve a relevant qualification as defined by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within a given timescale Desirable SVQ 2/3 Health and Social Care, HNC Social Care (post 2005) or any other relevant qualification in Health and Social Care. Other Desirable Driving licence and access to a car Job Outputs Performance output Includes the requirement to: Promoting and facilitating community mapping and integration to improve health and wellbeing and reduce social isolation Engage in mapping and promotion of community resources, activities and initiatives, supporting people to access these and contribute. Develop an active resource/directory of resources to share with the community making use of technology Work with people to support community integration, access to community resources, education, employability, voluntary opportunities, social activities and more. Work with the Community Engagement and Activities Team and local teams to positively engage the people and assist them in working towards desired outcomes. Page3
Build on volunteer recruitment underway at Loretto Care to achieve positive outcomes through peer volunteers, intergenerational volunteers and external volunteers. Promote the service to the wider community to generate referrals from different stakeholders and partners. Support performance improvement and recognition across the Organisation and outcomes set out by Knightswood Connects. Accurately record the effectiveness of events, activities and record the achieved outcomes of any activities. Create innovative and accessible means for generating feedback from people and partners within the community Track progress in terms of referrals, partners, positive outcomes and case studies to report back to Knightswood Connects. Support the Community Engagement Lead and Participate in regular supervision. Design a work plan with the CEA Lead and colleagues from Knightswood Connects identifying key targets and focus areas. Participate in regular supervision and development opportunities with the Community Engagement and Activities Lead or relevant supervisor. Confidentiality Ensure confidentiality is observed and respected at all times, and all paperwork is completed within agreed timescales. Contribute to the success of the team Adhere to Loretto s Organisational policies and procedures. Carry out any other responsible duties as required by the organisation. Bring to the attention of the Service Management Team any issues of concern or note which has an effect either directly or indirectly on the people we work for, staff members or the Organisation.
