14 Case study Case study 15 Case study: ecathlon, Oxylane Group Case study: Logoplaste With over 500 stores in operation, ecathlon is the uropean market-leader in sportswear and sports equipment. The ecathlon stores are supplied from several regional and continental warehouses across France and urope. 35.000 different items are distributed in cardboard packaging, in Magnum 330 foldable large containers and in Prelog CMB foldable small containers. The Magnum containers were functioning well, but the weight of around 3 kg proved to be a problem for handling in the stores. ecathlon asked Schoeller llibert to develop a solution with lighter containers and a big, 00 kg, loading capacity. Logoplaste is an industrial group, manufacturing rigid plastic packaging for some of the most reputable companies in the world, in the food and beverage, personal care, household care and oil and lubricants sectors. For the transport of Heinz ketchup pet-bottles at the Logoplast factory, used wooden pallets and big pallet-containers. Two main problems arose: the containers used up to much storage space when empty and their total working volume was to low. This resulted in more work to supply the preform buffers for the ketchup filling machines. new system should give better results on these points, without loosing flexibility and durability of the boxes. Schoeller llibert R& department developed the new Magnum Helium container meeting new requirements. The lowest possible weight is 7 kg. It makes sure its contents reach the ecathlon warehouses and shops in good shape. Its space saving fold-down walls and large door-openings make it very suitable for retail environments. The Magnum Helium was made compatible to the Prelog CMB folding attached lid containers, which offers ecathlon a mix of versatility, security and volume maximization for their deliveries. These two innovative products together form a market leading store distribution solution for the retail sector. ecathlon purchased 0,000 Magnum Helium containers and issued a testing order for ecathlon China. Logoplast and Schoeller llibert found a solution in the Magnum 319 Foldable Large Container, with drop-doors for easy attaching of the liner-bag. The bigger volume of the Magnum, 100 liter, allows for less movements from the Logoplast injection moulding machines to their blow moulding machines. There was also big reduction in storage space, because the Magnum is foldable. Logoplast built a new factory and all internal handling was built around the Magnum 319 FLC system. For handling, the result was a volume advantage of 3 Magnum FLCs versus 5 original pallet boxes. ue to savings on storage and handling. Polypropylene (PP) trays and containers are ideal for use between -10ºC to +50ºC with many models serviceable from -0ºC to +0ºC (depending on loading and use). High density polyethylene (HP) trays and containers are ideal for use between -30ºC to +30ºC with many models serviceable from as low as -40ºC up to +40ºC (depending on loading and use). If the containers or pallets are expected to perform under load at temperatures close to these parameters, then we recommend that you contact Schoeller llibert to discuss your application. Washing Polypropylene trays and containers can be put through tray washers in temperatures over +100ºC for short periods.
