3. Karama Power Station and Distribution Network Project Project: KARAMA Power Station and Distribution Network Project Client: Qarun Petroleum Co. "APACHI" / Egypt Start Date: 2009 Years Duration: 18 Months Project Value: 20 MMUS$ KARAMA site is 30,000 BPD crude oil production plant and one of the most important site of QPC, wells was supplied with electricity via diesel generators Both operational and maintenance cost of the site was high due to Diesel cost and maintenance of more than 120 Diesel Generators. KARAMA power plant is 32 Mega Watt electrical power field was constructed to secure the power for the entire area. The project has been constructed into 2 phases: Phase 1: is ongoing through 5 turbines total 20 Megawatt with about 120 km OHTL (22 KV) to switch than 100 well to the new plant Phase 2: well be through switching additional wells through 50 km OHTL power lines EMC was assigned to work in this project as a main EPC contractor; our scope was include the engineering works, procurement of all bulk materials, packages, treatment and utilities skids (Fuel Gas Skid, Diesel Generator, Portable Water Pumps, Power Transformers, Fire Fighting Pumps, Fire Detection, PCS and ESD, Bus duct, Instruments air skid, MV SEG, LV SWG, UPS and DCS,...etc) All the procurement has been handled by EMC except the power turbines units. Also all construction works has been executed by EMC, including buildings, civil works, piping, electrical, OHTL laying and poles fabrication. The scope also include the commissioning and start-up of the plant, the plant was commissioned and start-up was competed on April, 2011
4. Western Dessert Main Shipping Pipeline 16`` Underground pipeline, 166 Km Upgrading Project Project: Meliha to El-Hamra 16`` Underground Pipeline Upgrading project Client: Agiba / ENI Egypt B.V. Location: Western Desert Egypt Start Date: 2008 Years Project Value: 2.4 MMUS$ The project purpose is to increase the capacity and capability of the pipeline for shipping, the pipeline has been adapted to increase the operating pressure to be 100 Bar instead of 70 bar MAOP, The execution of such project has been implemented on three phases, (Inspection & Engineering phase, Verification phase & Repair and Execution phase), the project duration is 12 Months. This project has been implemented by EMC through internal resources, except for the intelligent pigging services have been provided through T.D. Williamson S.A. All project phase have been carried out without any stoppage or shutdown to the pipeline, considering the heist level of safety and emergency precautions. The Inspection phase; have been carried out using MFL Intelligent Pigging techniques, a pre runs of Mechanical cleaning, Proofing & Geometry runs have been provided also. Upon completion of the Intelligent pigging run and issuing the Final Fitness For Purpose Report by TDW, EMC start carrying out the required engineering works (Hydraulic Calculations & Stress Analysis) to identify the minimum wall thickness; which is required to meet the new operating conditions (Pressure, Flow & Temperature of Fluid); then EMC prepare a complete & enhanced repair program considering several affecting factors like (the type of corrosion (Internal or External), Number of defects per section, % of metal loss,..etc), this program recommend to use several types of repairs, each type of repair will be applied to fix a certain type of defects, with adhering to safety and cost optimization The used techniques during the pipeline repair were changed and could be summarized as follows: Hot Tapping & Stopling Services to fabricate and install about 1 km of the pipeline with new bypass pipeline with diameter 12``. Using Repair Sleeves with different lenghs (0.5 & 1 Meter) for all types of external and internal corrosions Using Composite wrapping to fix all types of external corrosion and till 85% of the wall thickness corrosion defects. Repair all cathodic protection network 5. GOS Offshore Platforms Control Rooms Upgrading
