Athenian has implemented an aggressive strategy to reduce electric power consumption at its facilities. This strategy includes: 1) Replacing obsolete light bulbs with most efficient led spotlights. The higher efficiency of the lighting reduces heat generation and thus significantly reduces the air conditioning load in summer. 2) Reduced indoor lighting 3) Reduced air conditioning. The air conditioning is now activated on an "as - needed" basis, rather than as am automatic routine. 4) Efficient computer monitors. Old CRT-based computer monitors have been replaced with low power monitors. Target is to reduce 1.5% the energy consumption of the head office. This program aims to promote the recycling sector in order to reintroduce waste into the economic cycle in the form of quality products, while at the same time minimising the negative environmental impact of doing so.
