Melbourne Training Options delivers high quality and nationally accredited courses to increase the skills of employees and job seekers at competitive rates. Melbourne Training Options helps employers build a strong, engaged and dedicated team and assists job seekers and employees to gain the right skills for the job they want and also supports existing workforces to further develop their skills through formal qualifications. Courses on scope include Community Services (including Alcohol and Other Drugs, Individual Support) and a range of pre-accredited courses. Melbourne Training Options is preparing to launch courses in 2018 due to securing a Restricted Victorian Funding Contract under Skills First for the next two years (until the end of 2019). POSITION OBJECTIVE: The role of the Trainer encompasses but is not limited to: 1. Service Delivery 1.1 Ensure the preparation, delivery and facilitation of training and assessment activity is conducted in accordance with all relevant Standards for Registered Training Organisations (State & Federal), Youth Projects Policies and Procedures and any other requirements imposed by agreement, legislation and regulation. 1.2 Conduct induction of students to Youth Projects training programs and RPL or Credit Transfer assessments 1.3 Assess student Language, Literacy and Numeracy levels prior to enrolment 1.4 Develop, deliver and maintain individual or group training plans and/or flexible training programs 1.5 Research, develop and customise learning materials suitable for a range of teaching and learning settings 1.6 Design and develop training and assessment that is learner focused and responds to learners as individuals 1.7 Prepare learning and assessment plans, session plans, unit guide and assessment map if required 1.8 Advise students of course objectives, outcomes and career prospects 1.9 Maintain and submit attendance records 1.10 Maintain and submit student course work for records 1.11 Participate in moderations and validation of training delivery 1.12 Respond appropriately to training concerns and grievances from students 1.13 Assist in the reviewing and validation of assessment instrument if required 1.14 Ensure a high quality of assessment services 1.15 Prepare assessment instruments if required 1.16 Assess competencies against national competency standards 2. Program Management 2.1 Ensure the flow of work is directed in line with contract requirements and to maintain business and training requirements at a high ethical and quality standard 2.2 Ensure facilitation of enrolments, working with students to complete enrolment paperwork, and provide to Project Officer in a timely manner 2.3 Report any observed issues with delivery of each training course to the RTO Leader 2.4 Oversee the application of training and assessment practices and ensure that Youth Projects training and assessment strategies are applied effectively 2.5 Conduct all training and assessment activity in accordance with the: 1. requirements of the relevant Training Package or Curriculum document 2. requirements of the ASQA VET Quality framework and the relevant funding contract 2.6 Ensure quality compliance of the requirements ASQA and relevant funding contract within nominated delivery area 3. General 3.1 Work collaboratively with other members of the Youth Projects team. 3.2 Contribute to achievement of program targets and goals 3.3 Ensure KPI s are met within timeframes and parameters set out by RTO Leader 3.4 Participate in quality activity programs, attend staff meetings, raise quality improvement opportunities, report incidents, report customer/client feedback 3.5 Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of service plans, policies, procedures and operational guidelines 3.6 Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements including the Privacy Act, Equal Employment Opportunity, Child Safety, Sexual Harassment and Occupation Health and Safety 3.7 Adhere to Youth Project s policy and procedures including conflict management plan and code of conduct as agreed to within conditions of employment 3.8 Actively participate as a member of the Youth Projects team by attending scheduled meetings, working cooperatively with the Corporate Staff, Senior Leadership Team, Effective Date: May 2018 Page 2
Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors 3.9 To attend and participate in certain professional development courses or training, required by the Department for all Skills First Teachers. 3.10 To be knowledgeable in and work within Youth Projects policies and procedures as well as the vision, mission and values of the service 4. Other Duties As requested by Management KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Current TAE40116/TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Current certificate or higher in courses being delivered, or can demonstrate equivalent qualifications or experience. Sound understanding of ASQA VET Quality framework and Training Packages (including the ability to access up-to-date information regarding the development and implementation of new Training Packages) Sound understanding of Government Funded Training requirements for Skills First funded students. Able to demonstrate continual development in VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining industry currency and trainer/ assessor competence Demonstrated experience in provision of training and assessment activities in RTOs Demonstrated understanding of RTO record keeping requirements Ability to work as part of a team High degree of computer skills in Windows environment Self-motivation and efficient time management skills Other Information A probationary period applies to new employees An annual Police Records Check and Working with Children Check is required A Current Victorian Drivers Licence is required Salary packaging is available Completion of Vocational Competency Mapping/Industry Competency Mapping and Professional Development Log will be required. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI S) FOR POSITION: Performance Measure Criteria 1. Meet training and assessment obligations Adherence to scheduled timetables for commencements and completions. 2. Ensure RTO Compliance Meet designated timelines for completion of compliance documentation Examples Units are opened in class as expected on scheduled dates. Assessments marked and resulted within 5 days 3. Maintain student files to ensure compliance Internal Audit Audit outcome Other Information 1. Adherence to Key Performance Indicators (KPI s) is mandatory 2. All Youth Projects positions have a six month minimum employment period and an annual performance review 6.
