Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India ALEAP GREEN INDUSTRIAL PARKS PRESENTATION BY K.RAMA DEVI PRESIDENT

(ALEAP) ALEAP was the dream of women entrepreneurs, who wanted to train, guide, support and enhance the lives of other women. It was established with the aim of bringing women entrepreneurs together on a common platform, in order to empower and promote women entrepreneurship. ALEAP s aim is to make women economically independent, through motivation, counseling, training and handholding. Over the last two decades, an increasing number of women have entered the field of entrepreneurship and gradually changing the face of the economy of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.

VISION To Design an Eco-Friendly & Self sustainable Industrial Development. A model Industrial Park that provides conducive environment for women entrepreneurs, that employs State-of-the technologies including: Clean technologies, Renewable energy technologies, Environmental technologies, Cost-effective Common infrastructure, Efficient Management Systems

INDUSTRIAL PARKS INDUSTRIAL PARKS An industrial park (also known as industrial estate, trading estate) is an area zoned and planned for the purpose of industrial development. An Industrial Park is defined as a large tract of land, sub-divided and developed for the use of several firms simultaneously, distinguished by its shareable infrastructure and close proximity of firms. GREEN INDUSTRIAL PARKS An industrial park in which businesses cooperate with each other and with the local community in an attempt to reduce waste and pollution, efficiently share resources (such as information, materials, water, energy, infrastructure, and natural resources), and help achieve sustainable development, with the intention of increasing economic gains and improving environmental quality.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES 1. Context sensitive planning and design 2. Clustering and networking 3. Minimized ecological footprint 4. Land regeneration 5. Design for flexibility 6. Waste minimization 7. Increased energy efficiency 8. Water resource management 9. Efficient circulation and movement systems 10. Effective resource mobilization 11. Collaborative management systems 12. Economic viability and market acceptance 13. Integration of technology 14. Capacity building, education and enforcement.

MASTER PLANNING PROCESS The main steps in the master planning process of a Green Industrial Parks are: 1. Eco Industrial Parks theme conception 2. Site selection/local analysis 3. Site sustainability assessment 4. Conceptual development program 5. Site master plan and guiding principles 6. Built environment design 7. Construction management 8. Organization and management

EXPECTED RESULTS A well planned and designed Industrial Park is expected to result in: A Site Master Plan that integrates sustain- ability aspects (e.g., social, economic and environmental considerations). Innovative and viable technical solutions in areas of waste water, storm water, wastes, ecological landscapes, energy efficiency/renewable energy, green buildings etc. for upcoming industrial parks. Address issues of environment protection, climate change, resource efficiency and renewable energy & energy efficiency. Integrate cost effective common infra- structure and services in the Industrial Park. Use management structures for collective resource and service management within the industrial park.

BENEFITS OF GREEN INDUSTRIAL PARKS Cost Savings, Shared Services Cleaner, Healthier environment, an attraction for recruitment Reduces conflict between industry and environment Increased use of renewably energy Waste Management: Economic dimension:- Cost Reduction in waste disposal Waste can be converted in to wealth Environmental dimension: Recycled water can be utilized for various purposes Reduction in quantity of water disposal Social Dimension: Life style of the villagers will improve by providing jobs. The park and the society will prosper bilaterally Keeping view of the today s environmental issues, we have created this Green Industrial Parks not only to tackle environment issues but also to build a product brand that leverages international market for women entrepreneurs.

ALEAP INDUSTRIAL PARKS ALEAP has developed the first Women Entrepreneur's Industrial Estate in India at Gajularamaram, near Hyderabad in Ranga Reddy District of Telangana. ALEAP has developed another multi product Industrial cluster for women entrepreneurs with a thrust in Food Processing at Nunna near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. ALEAP Industrial Estate at Bodduvanipalem, Nellore. ALEAP Industrial Estate at Balabadrapuram Village, Rajahmundry. Industrial Estate, Hyderabad Industrial Estate at nunna, Vijayawada

ALEAP GREEN INDUSTRIAL PARKS A-GRIP- A Green approach towards infrastructure ALEAP has gone into development of a new industrial park i.e., Green Industrial Park with the support of GIZ. A-GRIP at Nandigama is envisioned to provide an environment conducive for women entrepreneurs and employ state-of-the-art technologies, including clean technologies, renewable energy technologies, environmental technologies and cost-effective common infrastructure.

SITE MASTER PLANNING Site master planning was made in collaboration with GIZ.

ALEAP Interventions for enhancing employment through entrepreneurship - Hub & Spoke Model An MOU has been entered with M/s. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited to create quality standards in the Garments making and set benchmarks for others to emulate. ALEAP intends to develop one HUB unit &20 Spoke units. ALEAP being HUB also called as mother unit, in which the sophisticated machinery is installed, will undertake cutting in bulk, small part making finishing of fashion garments using the said machinery. and The Spoke Units also called as Ancillary units consisting of skilled women drawn from SHGs and trained by ALEAP as per the required quality standards, will attend to works such as attaching the cut pieces.

Training Programme in Industrial garmenting skills equips the learners with the ability to acquire the requisite knowledge and skills to manufacture the garments at corporate standards. Creation of employment to around 1000 SHG members Skilled trainees will be employed in the Hub for 200 women & Spoke units for 800 members (40 members in each spoke unit ).
