Job purpose Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as an integral member of the UK leadership team, the Director of Finance and Operations will be responsible for the development and implementation of Mary s Meals financial management and operational strategy and contribute to the development of the organisation s strategic goals. In addition to the strategic components, the Director of Finance will be charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and procedures in the finance. Key activities To contribute to organisational strategy and growth as part of the leadership team To develop and implement financial planning to support all Mary s Meals activities in the UK To oversee the financial control of the charity and all matters relating to income, expenditure and value for money, as well as the preparation of budgets and forecasts as required To advise the Executive Director on organisational and financial performance as required To ensure that an appropriate financial policy framework is in place to guide the charity's financial decision making To ensure the appropriateness of the key assumptions included in the charity's medium term financial plan and annual budget proposals. Provide advice to senior colleagues on these matters To contribute to and co-ordinate the preparation of the charity's strategic plan and the monitoring and reporting of progress against organisational goals and objectives. Ensure preparation of the annual budget and forecasts are completed to required schedule Ensuring the provision of regular and effective management information in support of board and leadership team To service the trustees' audit and risk committee To maintain records to meet legal and tax requirement and to measure both the inputs and the outcomes of the charity's operations To ensure that the statutory annual accounts and Directors Report are prepared and submitted to plan To keep abreast of developments across the charity sector by liaising with senior finance and operations staff in other charities Ensuring effective and compliant HR policies and systems are in place to guide and inform the organisational development and direction Provide appropriate oversight, strategy and direction to the UK retail operation Provide oversight to the UK material aid programme and delivery To ensure the effective management and development of the organisational systems including supporter database To continually demonstrate, promote and protect Mary s Meals values within the organisation and with external stakeholders To support the company secretary to continue to develop the governance of the organisation To ensure the organisation works within the regulations in force, including company law, charity law, equal opportunities, data protection and promote good practice in all areas To troubleshoot and develop strategies to address departmental challenges Job description: Director of Finance and Operations 2

Qualifications, skills and experience Essential Desirable CCAB qualified, with a significant post qualification experience Experience of negotiating and influencing at a strategic level, and building relationships and partnership Experience of working with and providing operational reports to Chief Officials and/or Board level Experience of managing relationships with external service providers, including auditors and advisors Has proven ability and experience to lead, build and continue to develop the capabilities of driven, bright and diverse teams Has demonstrable experience of an ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom and judgement Has experience of networking, interpersonal and collaboration skills and experience of effective partnership working Well-developed individual and team leadership, management and coaching skills Exceptional communication skills to build relationships with key stakeholders and able to influence and challenge as necessary Be able to effectively lead and manage continuity, change and transition.
