2 2 POSITION IN ORGANISATION: Scotland Director Head of Fundraising & Marketing Scotland Area Fundraiser South Area Fundraiser North Fundraising Events Manager Individuals and Trusts Fundraising Manager Fundraising and Events Assistant The post holder will report to the Head of Fundraising and Marketing Scotland, and also work closely with the following: Staff within the fundraising department (UK Wide) Non-fundraising staff throughout the MS Society MS Society Branches and volunteers Existing and prospective supporters External fulfilment agencies This position will line manage the Fundraising and Events Assistant. 3 SCOPE OF JOB: Strategic development Operational delivery Financial management To lead on the development, delivery and promotion of event fundraising in Scotland - 60% Fundraising Events Manager Scotland JD Jan 2013 v3-2 -

3 Staff Management 4 DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY: Operational decisions on the development and delivery of income through a portfolio of fundraising events. 5 QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS LEVEL: Person Specification Qualifications Educated to Higher level or equivalent qualifications Full driving license Certificate in Fundraising (desirable) Experience Proven experience of working in an events or community fundraising environment Project management experience Experience of setting and working to targets, budgets and deadlines Proven experience of increasing income from marketing/sales/fundraising activity Proven experience of identifying opportunities, planning new activities and managing change Experience of cultivating supporters Experience of marketing fundraising activities to cold and warm supporters through a range of different channels inc through new media Experience in working with and motivating volunteers Experience of building relationships within the team and across the organisation s functions to support the delivery of departmental plans and objectives Experience working with external agencies (desirable) Knowledge and Skills Knowledge other charities fundraising events in Scotland Ability to research and make a business case for the introduction of new events with projected income and expenditure Fundraising Events Manager Scotland JD Jan 2013 v3-3 -

Strategic development - 10% Input into UK wide community and event fundraising strategy and ensure Scottish strategy reflects key activities and priorities Promote and support UK Wide community and event fundraising initiatives locally To develop and deliver the strategic direction for events fundraising in Scotland and to ensure sustainable growth in net income To communicate strategy across fundraising staff and volunteers, engaging all in the delivery of activities To develop the strategy to keep abreast of changes within the sector and our audiences to keep the programme of activities modern and engaging To ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and Fundraising Standards Board requirements 2. 5 To be creative in seeking new event fundraising opportunities and to test new activity within agreed parameters of risk To research and propose new event fundraising opportunities with projected costs, income and timescales Plan, test, market and manage new event fundraising activities Oversee the stewardship of community fundraisers to identify trends and opportunities for future events Work with agencies and other team members to design, print and distribute event marketing materials Write copy for promotional materials, enewsletters, website content, mass supporter s/mailings etc Provide excellent supporter care to ensure long term commitment to the organisation To take responsibility for related data management including data input, amendment, running reports and creating data queries as necessary 3. Operational delivery - 10% To break down the strategy into operational and personal work plans Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate a broad range of activities, projects and promotions to maximise income into the MS Society To work across the organisation with volunteers and staff in fundraising to deliver a range of community and event activities To ensure the timely and effective marketing of all event fundraising activities to maximise participation using a variety of channels To ensure that the highest standards of customer care are provided including suitable recognition to supporters To work with colleagues to ensure that fundraising is acknowledged as an integral part of service delivery 4. Financial management - 10% To set income and expenditure budgets for community and events fundraising activity including projections for new activity To monitor progress against budget and reforecast income and expenditure as required To achieve or exceed targets by managing the resources within the agreed budget and ensuring value for money To analyse results appropriately including by ROI and to feed conclusions into plans going forward Fundraising Events Manager Scotland JD Jan 2013 v3-5 -

Staff Management 10% To line manage and review the performance and development of the Fundraising & Events Assistant Other Duties The post holder should be prepared to attend MS Society meetings in different parts of the UK. Some meetings may be during evenings or weekends. The post holder will be working in a developing environment and he/she will therefore be expected to undertake other appropriate duties as required for the effective operation of the MS Society. 1.
