What is a Watershed Restoration Plan? A watershed-based plan designed to determine the course of action necessary through the identification of specific measures to be taken to restore impaired waters and to protect unimpaired waters

WATERSHED EDUCATION & OUTREACH PROGRAMS PROGRAM GOAL: Raise watershed awareness and promote the importance of local environmental stewardship

COMMUNITY STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM PROGRAM GOAL: To engage local community members in hands-on opportunities to protect, restore, and / or enhance their local watersheds.

AGRICULTRAL OUTREACH & ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROGRAM GOAL: To assist with promoting, planning, and implementing agricultural best management practices designed to improve existing natural resources

RIPARIAN ECOSYSTEM ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM PROGRAM GOAL: Implementation of riparian buffer restoration, floodplain enhancement, and vegetative streambank stabilization projects

STORMWATER OUTREACH & ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROGRAM GOAL: Implementation of stormwater management programs and improvement projects including rain gardens, infiltration, and bio-infiltration projects to reduce stormwater runoff to surface waterways

The Growth of the SCMUA-WRWMG-NJDEP Agricultural Cost Share Program

SCMUA-WRWMG-NJDEP Ag Cost Share Program This program provides 319(h) funding opportunities for Sussex County s agricultural community to implement various conservation practices, projects, which are intended to address surface water quality impairments. These funds will be used as leverage with USDA-NRCS Farm Bill funds to implement projects within the following watershed basins: Papakating Creek Watershed Clove Brook / Clove Acres Lake Watershed Upper Paulins Kill Watershed

Successful Implementation of a USDA-NRCS, SCMUA/WRWMG & NJDEP Agricultural BMP Cost-Share Project Wantage Township, NJ - 2013-2014

MANURE STOCKPILES: Manure Stacking Areas / Stockpiles have the potential to contribute excessive nutrients and pathogens as contaminated runoff or leachate into surface waterways and groundwater sources.

BARNYARD RUNOFF: Barnyards are places where livestock gather to eat, drink and eventually deposit manure. They can be a major source of where nutrients could leach or run off into the groundwater or surface waterways.

UNRESTRICTED LIVESTOCK ACCESS TO A SURFACE-WATERWAY: Unrestricted livestock access to streams is associated with many negative effects. Livestock defecating in streams may deposit harmful pathogens and excessive nutrients in streams. Degraded streambanks may result in increased nutrient and pathogen loading as well as elevated water temperatures.
