OUR COMPANY IN BRIEF AT A GLANCE Aqua Engineering has started as an engineering firm and soon developed into an EPC contractor for turnkey water treatment systems in the fields of industrial process water, conventional and advanced municipal drinking water and sewage treatment plants and membrane desalination systems for saline water and seawater. First experiences with membrane based desalination was made back in 1986 and the first major contract in seawater desalination was booked with Abu Dhabi WED in 1988, marking also the beginning of a success story in desalination in the Gulf Region and particularly in the United Arab Emirates. Many turnkey municipal water systems were successfully delivered using various processes with the majority of such plants supplied to City water works in China, combined with financing, as well as Eastern European cities. HISTORY Aqua Engineering has installed more than 100 projects worldwide with over 50 large scale municipal drinking water, sewage treatment and desalination plants. The main areas of operation were traditionally Europe, China and the Middle Eastern countries. Aqua Engineering was first established in 1963 and made in 1981 into a subsidiary of the German based THYSSEN AG, was part of Austrian based BWT Group and later CHRIST WATER, was taken over by Canadian GLV and became a part of OVIVO Water Group. After demerger from Ovivo, Aqua Engineering is under its original brand name.

OUR CUSTOMER SUPPORT TECHNICAL CUSTOMER SERVICE Supported by experienced staff, Aqua Engineering offers its customers a complete concept of process technology starting at the point of basis design all the way to production, start-up, operator training and customer services. PLANT OPERATION & MAINTENANCE Professional and process oriented operation of a water treatment plant, particularly of membrane based systems being UF and RO solutions, is a must for the plant owner to protect the asset value of plant investment and utilize water production over design plant lifetime. With our experienced technical staff we are in position to provide both plant operation and maintenance on a contract base or technical operation and maintenance management and support services.
DESALINATION BUSINESS HISTORY Aqua Engineering has entered the membrane based desalination business as a pioneer in 1985 and has received its first major contract from former Abu Dhabi WED in 1989 for delivery of 8 seawater reverse osmosis desalination plants from ¼ to 2 MIGD. Since then, AQUA ENGINEERING has successfully executed over 25 projects in the UAE, Oman, KSA, Egypt, Taiwan and other countries and turnkey delivered SWRO plants up to 91,000 m 3 /day (20 MIGD) drinking water from the sea. KEY INSTALLATIONS Federal Electricity & Water Authority, UAE (turnkey SWRO plants of 13,620 m 3 /day (3 MIGD), 27,240 m 3 /day (6 MIGD) and 45,400 m 3 /day (10 MIGD) Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority, UAE (turnkey SWRO plant of 91,000 m 3 /day (20 MIGD) TECHNOLOGIES Aqua Engineering has successfully supplied active and passive intake solutions, conventional and advanced pre-treatment incl. DAF, media filtration, UF, RO systems with various energy recovery systems and all auxiliary units for a reliable desalination system solution. DRINKING WATER BUSINESS HISTORY Aqua Engineering has constructed many municipal drinking water plants from containerized scale to large stationary scale in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and predominantly China. Since then, Aqua Engineering has successfully delivered close to 50 plants with a total capacity of over 3,000,000 m 3 /day (661 MIGD) of purified drinking water production. The largest plant capacities are installed in China with a 400,000 m 3 /day (88 MIGD) production plant for the City of Shantou. KEY INSTALLATION Vodoopskrbni Sustav Istre Vodovod Butoniga (turnkey plant of 86,400 m 3 /day (19 MIGD) TECHNOLOGIES Aqua Engineering has employed processes ranging from conventional up to advanced systems using DAF, slow sand filtration with ozonation, membrane filtration and others to guarantee the appropriate technical solution for the site specific raw water quality, tailored to given drinking water directives in place. WASTE WATER BUSINESS HISTORY Aqua Engineering has constructed many municipal sewage treatment plants for cities in Europe, Africa, and China. Since then, Aqua Engineering has successfully delivered more than 20 larger scale plants with a total capacity of over 2,000,000 m 3 /day (441 MIGD) of treated sewage to clean effluent. One of the most advanced plants was installed in Ljubljana, Slovenia with a treatment capacity of 360.000 population equivalents (PE), including sludge drying, biogas to power system and plant operation. KEY INSTALLATION Vodoovod Kanalizacija d.o.o., City of Ljubljana, SLO (turnkey plant of 103,500 m 3 /day (23 MIGD) TECHNOLOGIES Aqua Engineering has employed processes ranging from conventional continuous activated sludge process, sequence batch reactor systems and other, often including sludge processing up to drying and biogas handling solutions. Employed processes were tailored to meet local government effluent quality criteria for safe discharge to environment or re-use in agriculture and other purpose. INDUSTRIAL PROCESS WATER BUSINESS HISTORY Aqua Engineering has entered the market of industrial water treatment with membrane based desalination and de-mineralization solutions already in 1985 and has recently successfully executed projects in UAE and Oman for high purity industrial requirement and turnkey delivered process water plants for boiler feed water quality with raw water from the sea. KEY INSTALLATIONS Emirates Aluminium, UAE (turnkey 21,000 m 3 /day (4.6 MIGD) SWRO & Demineralisation plant) Sohar Aluminium, Oman (turnkey 3,360 m 3 /day SWRO & Demineralisation plant) TECHNOLOGY Aqua Engineering has successfully supplied and integrated conventional and advanced pre-treatment incl. DAF, media filtration, UF, RO systems with various energy recovery systems, ion exchange and EDI systems and all auxiliary units for a reliable process plant solution. Technologies applied are designed for various raw-water sources and tuned to produce process water quality in softened, demineralised or high purity water for steam applications. OTHER WATER BUSINESS HISTORY Aqua Engineering has delivered under the Austrian Soft loan Program several projects several projects focusing on special environmental education, training and capacity building for customers in China. Such projects have been tailored to customer needs and mobile test and simulation units have been developed, delivered and commissioned with the relevant schools, under a technology transfer and vocational training program. Extensive training was provided to ensure sustainable use of equipment in school laboratories and for field services. KEY PROJECTS Jinan and Rizhao Vocational Training & School Projects, China Containerized Drinking Water Stations in Iraq OTHER SERVICES Aqua Engineering has provided mobile and modular containerized systems for emergencies in water supply for municipalities, civil defence authorities and other governmental bodies to deal with clean drinking water supply to victims of disasters of both natural and manmade industrial disasters. Such systems are based on a robust, highly effective, safe and reliable design concept that can operate standalone in the field under critical conditions. With selected strategic partners, Aqua Engineering also provides flexible and tailored solutions for water resource management and water distribution network services modelling, operation & maintenance, leak detection, smart metering, etc. for communities as extended service both up-stream and down stream of water treatment plants. It is fact that water will also play a significant role in Smart Cities development, so Aqua Engineering is ready to provide smart solutions for the production, management and recycling for water reuse integrated with other services, such as power supply from renewable sources.
