FM0030-S02-RM1642-20140414exp20140730 15/04/2014 page 2 of 3 Intended Use Microbiological reference material for routine quality control purposes Instructions for Use Shake container well before opening. Use aseptic technique at all times. Follow directions below for relevant applications. Reseal container after use and store at 3 C - 5 C protected from light. Quantitative applications Semi-quantitative applications Weigh 10 g reference material and accurately prepare a 1:10 dilution with 0.1% microbiological peptone water. Mix well to dissolve powder. Store protected from light at 3 C - 5 C when not in use. Shake well before each use. Use within 6 hours. Calculate the result obtained per gram of original powder. When removed without compressing the powder, 1 level scoop delivers approximately 3 g of reference material. This enables a convenient method of obtaining semi-quantitative levels of micro-organisms for parallel tests, checking media recovery and similar applications where the required number of organisms is not critical. The number of scoops used and volume of diluent in which the material is dissolved may be varied to suit the number of target organisms required. The example in the below table for semi-quantitative applications applies to 1 scoop dissolved in 50 ml of diluent. (5% error is allowed.) We recommend using 0.1% microbiological peptone water, but other non-selective diluent solutions may also be used. The semi-quantitative solution may be stored protected from light at 3 C - 5 C for 30 hours. Internal validation checks should be conducted before extending this time. Shake well before each use. Values quoted in this certificate do not apply when the reference material is used in a manner contrary to the instructions. Values quoted have been statistically verified using the instructions described above. The weight specified in the instructions is the minimum sample size required to yield the results stated in the table of certified values. Functional Expiry Use within 4 months of purchase. Certified Values & their uncertainties* Not included in scope of accreditation. Data was log transformed prior to applying statistical processes. The expeccted value is the average of results on the declared day of test. The upper and lower limits reflect the ranges of results determined by application of uncertainties due to sample inhomogeneity, laboratory measurement uncertainty, transit and natural product shelf life, in accordance with ISO G34.
