JCN: 160 EXEMPT FRESNO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION MANAGEMENT POSITION Effective: July 1, 2010 Revised: March 18, 2014 CLASS TITLE: COORDINATOR II CURRICULUM/EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, plan, organize, coordinate and implement the operations and activities of the California PASS Program, function or instructional area to enhance educational effectiveness for Migrant Education Students; coordinate communications, information and resources to assure smooth and efficient activities of assigned area; serve as a technical resource and provide training statewide for schools participating in the PASS/Cyber High Program. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Plan, organize, coordinate and implement the instructional area to enhance educational effectiveness and efficiency of the California PASS Program; assist in assuring that related activities comply with established California State Curriculum Standards and Federal initiatives governing the education of Migrant students. Coordinate communications, information and resources to assure smooth and efficient activities of assigned area; collaborate with administrators, personnel, outside agencies and others in the development and implementation of related programs, functions, goal, objectives, guidelines and activities; coordinate and conduct a variety of special projects. Maintain professional competencies/knowledge in job related areas and information about changing trends in educational technology. Serve as a technical resource concerning assigned program, function or instructional area; visit Migrant Regions to assist personnel as assigned; respond to inquiries and provide detailed and technical information concerning related functions, activities, standards, requirements, time lines, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Plan, develop, implement and conduct training sessions and other staff development activities as assigned and specifically prepare and deliver oral presentations; prepare, develop and distribute related training and support materials; assist in coordinating meetings, committees and special events as assigned. Monitor and assess operations and activities of assigned program, function or instructional area for educational effectiveness and operational efficiency; receive and respond to staff and public input concerning related needs; assist in the development and implementation of programs, functions, policies and procedures to enhance educational opportunities for Migrant students. Plan, coordinate and oversee operations and resources to enhance administrative, faculty and staff understanding of educational practices, curriculum standards, guidelines and requirements related to assigned program, function or instructional area.
Coordinator II Curriculum/Educational Technology Page 2 Research, compile, assemble and evaluate a variety of technical information related to assigned area or program; participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of program and educational documents; prepare and distribute related correspondence and informational materials. Compose and prepare agreements and contracts in the areas of curriculum design and development for independent authors in accordance with Fresno County Legal Department. Serve as a liaison between California PASS Program/Cyber High administrators, personnel, outside organizations and the public concerning assigned area; contact individuals to promote programs, functions, activities, goals and objectives; coordinate and arrange for advertisements and other publicity as assigned. Provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnel in the Migrant Regions when requested; assign duties and review work to assure accuracy and completeness; provide input concerning employee interviews and evaluations as requested. Prepare and maintain a variety of narrative and statistical records, reports and files related to the programs, functions, instructional areas, staff development and assigned duties. Provide technical information and assistance to the assigned supervisor regarding needs, issues and progress related to assigned program, function or instructional area; assist in the formulation of new curriculum development in both traditional paper format and Internet based delivery systems. Assist in the development and preparation of the annual preliminary budget for assigned program or area as assigned; review and evaluate budgetary data in curriculum development and assure expenditures are in accordance with established limitations. Communicate with County Office administrators, personnel, outside organizations and the public to coordinate activities and programs, exchange information and resolve issues or concerns. Operate in an environment of high technology such as computers and assigned software develop by the private sector as well as locally produced; drive a vehicle to conduct work. Attend and participate in a variety of assigned meetings, committees, conferences, in-services and special events; present information concerning curriculum content and the use of educational technology. Adhere to the schedules, policies and procedures as determined by the Fresno County Office of Education. Curriculum interpretation and application in assigned program or instructional area. The theoretical and philosophical foundation of the California Content Standards and Frameworks, Assessments and California High School Exit Exam. Program dissemination in the area of Internet based curriculum. Policies and objectives of assigned programs and activities. Practices, procedures and techniques involved in the development and implementation of staff development activities. Basic budget preparation and control. Research methods and report writing techniques. Electronic record-keeping techniques. Principles of training and providing work direction. Public speaking techniques assisted by technology processes to increase participant interest. Applicable sections of the State Education Code, Local, State and Federal laws, codes, regulations and requirements as related to assigned activities and/or instructional area. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary in all forms of communication. County Office organization, operations, policies and objectives. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, flexibility, and courtesy. Serve as a technical resource to inform the Director of current trends in educational technology and help coordinate the acquisition of modern equipment to accommodate increasing numbers of student participation. Work directly with the Information Technology Department and the program s programmers to assure the integrity of the hardware and software required to deliver curriculum via the Internet. Work independently with little direction. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: EDUCATION: Bachelor s Degree. Master s Degree in curriculum and Instruction or related field may be substituted for a Valid California Teaching Credential or Services Credential requirement. EXPERIENCE: Three years experience developing, writing or coordinating the development of high school level curriculum. Knowledge of Information Age methodologies of instruction preferred. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California Teaching Credential; Valid California Administrative Services Credential. The Valid California Teaching Credential or Services Credential requirement may be substituted for a Master s Degree in curriculum and Instruction or related field. Valid California driver s license, incumbent must be insurable at the standard rate by the employer s insurance carrier at all times while employed by the Fresno County Office of Education. This position requires the incumbent to enroll in the Department of Motor Vehicles Government Employer Pull Notice Program at time of hire.
