1 Class Title: FLSA Status: Exempt BRIEF DESCRIPTI: The is responsible for recruitment, placement, and retention of volunteers in support of City services and programs. ther duties include developing strong relationships with outside businesses, community leaders, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and schools to expand the number and duties of volunteers which will maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of City departments through volunteer services, and interacting with other City employees and citizens. Coordinates with City staff requesting volunteers for departmental needs. Work with departments in the development of short-term and long-term goals. 2 S Track and maintain applicable volunteer records, files, hours volunteered and assignments. 3 S Monitor and review volunteer assignments by contacting City staff and volunteers to determine suitability. 4 S Develops strong relationships with outside businesses, community organizations, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, community leaders, and serves as a liaison between the community and the City. 5 S utreach and networking by building networks within the community by attending seminars, reading available materials to increase knowledge concerning volunteerism. 6 S Retains present volunteers in the program through quality and customer service assurance. Performs exit interviews with volunteers at the conclusion of assignments. 7 S Assists with the implementation of internal and external publicity and marketing efforts for all volunteer programs. Creates promotional items for the volunteers program, including various website updates, public interest stories, aware Page 1
2 nominations, and newsletter articles for publications. 8 S Assists with developing, organizing, and implementing activities and action plans to achieve departmental goals and objectives. 9 S Maintains knowledge of current programs and trends in volunteer management. Page 2
3 JB REQUIREMETS: Formal Education / Knowledge Experience Certification and ther Requirements Reading Math Writing Managerial Budget Responsibility Supervisory / rganizational Control Complexity Interpersonal / Human Relations Skills JB REQUIREMETS Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, on-profit Management, or related. Two years of experience in coordinating volunteers which included experience in public relations, communications, or customer service. Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above minimum requirements is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements. Valid Texas Class C Driver's License. Certificate in Volunteer Management is preferred. Intermediate - Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. rdinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study. Intermediate - Ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. rdinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college.
