Programme Manager - Strategic Initiatives Location: [Global] Category: Project Management *Position location to be determined by home country of successful candidate in a jurisdiction (country of US state) where WVI is registered to operate. PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Programme Manager provides programme and project management capability, as a member of the Private Funding leadership teams, to lead and support delivery of relevant WV Partnership Strategic Initiatives within the Global Resource Development (GRD) function. As such, the Programme Manager works with and is a key contributor to the Strategy Realization Office (SRO). The scope of this role includes leading and supporting innovation focused projects across multiple partnership entities, organization disciplines, stakeholders and geographies including Support Office marketing and product services functions, communications, IT and operations. This is accomplished through the influence of business leaders, project managers and staff across the partnership to achieve outcomes. The Programme Manager reports to the Partnership Leader, Strategic Marketing and the Senior Director, Sponsorship Marketing and Engagement, and is a member of their respective leadership teams. The role is responsible for setting up and managing a formal programme management discipline to support and ensure delivery of the partnership-wide Strategic Initiatives within GRD, including an array of current in-progress innovation co-investment projects. This programme of work forms part of the partnershipwide Partnership Strategy 2030. The Programme Manager will provide leadership and support in the development of all program management and innovation coinvestment project deliverables, from project initiation through close out, to support projects through the innovation lifecycle, from ideation through to successful launch and global scale out. This will include but not limited to project briefs, charters, business cases, plans, progress reporting, dependency, risk and issue management and escalation, budgeting and financial management, communications planning, procurement planning, all project monitoring processes and project close out. In addition, this role leads the development and support of all management reporting for effective decision making and delivery of all GRD SRO initiatives. As the programme management expert within GRD, this role also has responsibility to build staff capability across the project management discipline. The successful candidate will possess: a passion for project and programme management with people capability development; a

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic and Financial Planning, Management and Reporting: For the SRO Strategic Initiatives within the GRD function, leads the planning and reporting of the Innovation Fund projects and associated financial plans which roll up to the realization of Partnership Strategy 2030 outcomes. Maps GRD SRO portfolio project high level timelines, milestones and deliverables, their interdependencies and dependencies for management and executive review, guidance and action. Provides financial and management reporting to support management and accountability against established annual goals and targets. For Strategy Realization Office (SRO) Strategic Initiatives within GRD, provides guidance and promotes standards on project management and business process best practices: Lead, support and promote standards and best practices for project, programme and business process management as established by the Sponsorship Transformation Programme and in alignment with the SRO. Ensures continued refresh of tools based on feedback and lessons learned. Establishes and proactively monitors the GRD assets, ensuring availability for continuous improvement and accountability. Provide coaching, guidance and launch support for new GC CS initiatives as needed. For business process management, establishes standard tools and templates and works with teams to align all existing process maps to these standards. For specific initiatives, facilitates business process and/or project management workshops to provide focused capacity and capability for project teams.
Program Monitoring and Controlling: Ensuring that the delivery of outputs or services from the Innovation Fund projects supporting the SRO Strategic Initiatives measure up to defined quality, timing and budget commitments. Identifying, monitoring and driving resolution of all programme risks and mitigation plans. Building and managing the programmes budget, monitoring the one-time expenditures and recurring costs against budget as the programme progresses, reporting out regularly on actual costs versus budget. Resolving programme issues or conflicts by removing barriers, direct communication and escalation to the appropriate persons as necessary. Reporting status, progress, risks & issues of the programme at regular intervals to GRD Leadership. Creating simple and easy to understand reporting mechanisms. Monitoring the budget and reporting out for GRD Strategic Initiatives at regular intervals on all sub project cost center budgets. Initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the programme are identified or issues arise. Program Guidance and Collaboration: Working in partnership with the Child Sponsorship Leadership Team, who manage the national offices/field engagement for innovation scale-outs and multi-lateral tests. Working in alignment with, and with output from, the Innovation Fund Project Leads, whose role is to facilitate collaboration and ensure visibility of innovation projects within and between support offices for shared partnershipwide learning; and to project manage multi-lateral tests that involves participation by multiple support offices. Working in partnership with the Director, Innovation Fund Initiatives, whose role is to plan, monitor and report out on the realisation of resultant benefits/business value from all new delivered capabilities within the Innovation Fund Roadmap. Working in parallel with the Support Office Business Owners/Senior Users and Project Managers whose role is to embed the new capability into their office business operations, facilitating business changes to exploit that capability, and realise business value in their support offices context.
Develop and ensure timely and effective delivery of proactive communications to programme stakeholders. Working in partnership with, and with the output from, Global IT & Global Comms relevant projects. Other responsibilities as needed KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Masters degree in project management, business administration, management science or related field (or equivalent experience). Bachelors degree in related field. Must be highly self-motivated and driven to succeed in a fast-paced working environment. 6-8 years experience leading Global Programme and/or Project Management across multiple countries/project sites, and diverse range of project types (technology and business). Experience leading both operations and project-based teams in a global, virtual environment. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other members of the GRD leadership team, other Partnership senior leaders and their teams, third-party service providers and staff. Financial or economic analysis experience for feasibility study and decision management. Ability to lead through collaboration and influence the GRD leadership team to gain alignment and participation in planning and reporting out on achievement of objectives. Ability to build productive relationships with business stakeholders and external partners of varied backgrounds and experiences. Ability to manage expectations of business customers and senior management by proactive planning and frequent, intentional communication. Ability to maximize the effective allocation of resources and skills amongst work tasks and priorities as defined by the Strategic Initiatives within the Partnership Strategy.
Excellent interpersonal skills and virtual influencing skills. Excellent oral, written communication skills and ability to present well to a variety of audiences. A minimum of 10+ years of demonstrated work experience in project and operational leadership roles, including those directing and motivating complex physical and virtual project teams. Broad executive leadership and communications: works successfully with governance bodies, boards and executive decision-makers. Extensive international experience in working across cultures and within complex organizational structures. Broad knowledge and deep understanding of different aspects of sponsorship and its associated business processes within World Vision National, Regional and Support Offices. Proven ability to design and deliver complex portfolio of programs and projects across disciplines and cultures. Ability to scope projects and programs and manage/corral the associated executives on an ongoing basis. Prince2 Project Management Certification or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP). Excellent effective written and verbal communication skills in English for all organization level audiences. Preferred: Strong analytical and problem skills. Flexible and willing to travel per World Vision policy up to 30%. A passion for developing and promoting staff. An experienced learner who values curiosity over certainty. A bias toward continuous improvement. Work Environment/Travel: The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
