Position Reports to Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader Services Manager Company Synlait Milk Ltd Date: March 2015 Location 1028 Heslerton Road, Dunsandel, Canterbury Purpose The key purpose of the role is to ensure mechanical maintenance is carried out by staff and contractors in an effective manner to enable maximum availability of operational equipment. Key Performance Areas Documentation Completes all required paperwork including Daily and Weekly Schedules and Work Orders Leadership Identifies training needs within the team and ensures that training occurs to close any gaps Ensures workforce effectiveness by eliminating potential for delays and by setting expectations for quality and expected duration and providing feedback to trades people Matches trades people with skills required to do the work Assign tasks to develop job skills Consider suggestions for improved equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency issues, putting suggestions in place where appropriate and providing feedback when another option is more appropriate Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader PD March 2015 Page 1 of 7
Key Performance Areas Management Ask questions of emergency work that differs from the daily schedule Have regular conversations with staff around productivity and outputs, encouraging a culture of accountability Provide regular on-site support and technical assistance to staff to ensure the job is progressing as planned Listens to any concerns trades people may have and act accordingly Allocates resources to ensure repairs are completed effectively and efficiently Manage overtime and make overtime assignments Identify ways to reduce maintenance costs Maintenance Scheduling Schedule daily activities for the area crew Issue printed work orders to the crew for scheduled work Ensure the daily maintenance schedule and work orders are posted by 3pm the previous work day Develop, coordinate and execute plans for emergency work Follow up on job overruns and interruptions and communicate any barriers which may affect the weekly schedule Reallocate resources among the group as needed Review shift logs for action items and communicate with Operations to progress Team Work Develop strong relationships with operations and attend daily Operations meeting to identify potential maintenance issues Works with the Maintenance Planner to keep the PM system functioning properly Work with others to contribute to team and group outcomes Demonstrate active support of Synlait Milk values and exhibit behaviours that are consistent with them Keep up-to-date with business developments in the company and gain an understanding of the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader PD March 2015 Page 2 of 7

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Qualifications: Engineering trade qualification as a minimum, with a preference towards an advance trade certificate or higher Experience: Currently employed in a supervisory position 5 years post training experience in a food manufacturing plant, preferably with dairy experience Skills: Have enthusiasm, drive and determination to lead a small team to achieve mechanical maintenance best practice for Synlait Well organised with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively Excellent communication skills The ability to work well under pressure and to remain calm The ability to build strong relationships with team members bringing credibility and respect Health & Safety 1.
