This document covers how to install, configure and use the device with Cash Register Express.

The device will not recognize the alternative SKU as an item in your inventory. As of 12.8021 and newer, the Discrepancy Report button has been added to the Inventory Transfer Screen. This allows you to check the changes that will be made before saving a Physical Count.

Installing the Cable Driver Before installing the cable driver, leave the cable DISCONNECTED. To download the Cipher Lab 8200 cable driver, click here. 1. Locate the downloaded file named CP210x_VCP_Windows_v6.7.zip 2. Right click the file and select Extract All 3. Put a check in Show Extracted files when complete 4. Select Extract 5. Double click the folder named CP210x_VCP_Windows_v6.7 6. Right click the file and select Run as Administrator CP210xVCPInstaller_x86.exe(for 32bit windows systems) CP210xVCPInstaller_x64.exe(for 64bit windows systems) 7. Click Next

8. Click I accept this agreement 9. Click Next 10. Wait for the driver to finish installing 11. Verify the status of the Driver is Ready to Use 12. Click Finish 13. Connect the cable to the computer 14. Access Control Panel 15. Click Hardware and Sound 16. Click Device Manager 17. Select Ports 18. Look for Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge 19. Record the assigned COM number to the port 20. Close Device Manager and Open Cash Register Express If you do not see the COM port # in the title, see below for instructions on how access the advanced settings to see the com port #.

Finding the Com port in Advanced Port Settings Right Click Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge and select Properties Select the Port Settings tab Select Advanced Record the Com Port Number, click cancel. Close Device Manager and Open Cash Register Express

Configuring CRE to connect to the Cipher Lab 8200 1. Select Options or Manager 2. Enter the appropriate credentials 3. Select Tools 4. Select Inventory Transfer The employee needs to have the * permission to use the Inventory Transfer Screen 5. Select Configuration 6. Select the COM # that is the same as the COM # you recorded in the earlier section. 7. Select Test Device

If you receive the Prompt Connection Successful. click ok and continue If you receive the prompt Connection Unsuccessful. Click ok & close CRE. Go back to the previous section to confirm the COM port # 8. Click Save

Loading the CRE Inventory Transfer Application to the Device Now that the CRE is configured to communicate with the handheld, we can load the Inventory transfer application to the handheld. Be sure to have the device in the cradle or have the cable connected to the device. 1. Select Utilities by pressing the 3 on the number pad 2. Select Load Application by pressing the 6 on the number pad 3. When the screen displays Trying to connect

4. Open Cash Register Express 5. Select Options or Manager 6. Enter the appropriate credentials 7. Select Tools 8. Select Inventory Transfer The employee needs to have the * permission to use the Inventory Transfer Screen 9. Select Configuration 10. Select Application Load

11. When the prompt Is the device ready? appears, Select Yes 12. The screen will display Now downloading wait for the download to finish. 13. When the download has finished, the device will return to the main menu.

Exporting your CRE Inventory to the Cipher Lab 8200 1. Select Utilities by pressing the 3 on the number pad. 2. Select Export from POS by pressing the 8 on the number pad. 3. When the screen displays Trying to connect return to CRE.

4. Select Options or Manager 5. Enter the appropriate credentials 6. Select Tools 7. Select Inventory Transfer 8. Select Export to device 9. Choose how you want to specify what will be exported to the device If you want to export your entire inventory, chose All Departments. If you to export a single department choose Select Department If Select Department is chosen, then a dropdown menu will appear, select the Department ID you want to export to the device. 10. When the prompt Are you sure you want to export inventory? appears, Select Yes

11. The screen will display Now downloading wait for the download to finish. CRE will display Sending Data ***Note: The data that has been downloaded to the device will overwrite the previous data. For example, if you exported your entire inventory from CRE to the device, then you exported a single department from CRE to the device, only the items from the exported department will be available for stock changes on the device, all other departments will be removed. 12. When the download has finished the device will return to the main menu.

Changing the Stock Level of an Item with the Cipher Lab 8200 Note: As of CRE version 12.8024 and above step 2 is required. 1. Select Collect Data by pressing the 1 on the number pad. 2. Select Inventory Update 3. When the screen looks like the image to the left, the device is ready to scan a barcode of an item 4. Press the Yellow button on the keyboard or use the trigger from the pistol grip accessory to scan an item.

5. When an item has been scan the screen will change to show the item #, it s description, the price, the Old Quantity (last stock # that was exported) and the New Quantity 6. Use the number pad to enter the new quantity 7. Use the selection key, either to the left or right on the yellow button to confirm the new quantity. 8. The screen will change back and it is ready to scan the next item. 9. When you ve finished scanning your items and are ready to begin the export to CRE, press the ESC key.

How to use the Check Price feature This feature is available on CRE 12.8024 and up. 1. Select Collect Data by pressing the 1 key on the number pad. 2. Select Check Price by pressing the 2 key on the keypad. 3. Scan the Item or enter the item # with keypad and press the selection keys to enter the item #.

4. After the item is scanned or entered, the Name, Price, and In Stock Quantity associated with the item will appear on the device.

Importing the stock changes from the Cipher Lab 8200 to CRE 1. Select Send Data to POS by pressing the 2 on the number pad. 2. Use the up and down buttons around the scan button to highlight 1st lookup file option and use the selection keys to select it. 3. When the screen displays Trying to connect return to CRE.

4. Select Import from device from the Inventory transfer screen. CRE will display the Receiving prompt, wait for CRE to finish receiving the export. You can select the Discrepancy button to view a discrepancy report to verify the changes that will be made. This is useful to see the changes in stock levels that will be made from the current stock levels to the new stock levels that will be entered in from the Inventory Update. 5. The screen will update with a list that shows the items that have a new stock amount. Press Save Inventory Count to confirm these changes to CRE s inventory. 6. Open Inventory Maintenance and lookup the item to confirm that the # in stock has changed to the correct amount.

Installing the Cipher Lab Forge Utility To change how the device reads barcodes you must use the Forge Utility to change the application file and reload the CRE Inventory Application to the device. Download and extract the setup files, click here to download the files. 1. Locate the extracted file Forge_Batch_Install_xxxxxxx and right click the file and select Run as Administrator 2. Select Next 3. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement. 4. Select Next 5. Select Next

6. Select Next 7. Select Install and wait for the program to finish installing. 8. Select Finish

Starting the Forge application 1. Navigate to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\cre.net\forgeutilities 2. Right click the InvTransfer.AGX and select Run as Administrator ***NOTE: If the InvTransfer.AGX is not selected before making your changes and the file is saved, the Forge Utility s default settings will OVERWRITE CRE s application settings. This may cause unintended changes to the functionality of the device. 3. Select the Symbology under the Application Template Or Select the Symbology Folder 4. Use the Barcodes & Parameters section to enable the barcode types you want to be able to scan by putting a check in the box next to each type. See below for more details on configuring each barcode type.

Configuring the Cipher Lab 8200 Barcode Reader UPC-E With Transmit Check Digit enabled it will record the last # of the scanned barcode 1. To enable scanning of UPC-E barcodes, put a check in the box next to the desired barcode type. 2. To configure other parameters of the enabled barcode, such as including check digits, select the more button. With Transmit Check Digit disabled it will not record the last # of the scanned barcode Scanned: 02100074 Scanned: 0210007 With Transmit System Number enabled it will record the first # of the scanned barcode With Transmit System Number disabled it will not record the first # of the scanned barcode Scanned: 02100074 Scanned: 2100074 ***NOTE: When you enable UPC-E1, the Check Digit and System number parameters for UPC-E are automatically applied to UPC-E1 barcodes.***

EAN-8 With Transmit Check Digit enabled it will record the last # of the scanned barcode 1. To enable scanning of EAN-8 barcodes, put a check in the box next to the desired barcode type. 2. To configure other parameters of the enabled barcode, such as including check digits, select the more button. With Transmit Check Digit disabled it will not record the last # of the scanned barcode Scanned: 09780972 Scanned: 0978097 EAN-13 With Transmit Check Digit enabled it will record the last # of the scanned barcode 1. To enable scanning of EAN-13 barcodes, put a check in the box next to the desired barcode type. 2. To configure other parameters of the enabled barcode, such as including check digits, select the more button. With Transmit Check Digit disabled it will not record the last # of the scanned barcode Scanned: 9780978945619 Scanned: 978097894561

UPC-A With Transmit UPCA Check Digit enabled it will record the last # of the scanned barcode 1. To enable scanning of UPC-A barcodes, put a check in the box next to the desired barcode type. 2. To configure other parameters of the enabled barcode, such as including check digits, select the more button. With Transmit UPCA Check Digit disabled it will not record the last # of the scanned barcode Scanned: 021000758968 Scanned: 02100075896 With Transmit UPCA System Number enabled it will record the last # of the scanned barcode With Transmit UPCA System Number disabled it will not record the last # of the scanned barcode Scanned: 021000758968 Scanned: 21000758968

Saving the Configuration changes to the Cipher Lab 8200 Device 1. When you ve finished making your changes, Select Save 2. Close the Forge Application 3. Select Utilities by pressing the 3 on the number pad 4. Select Load Application by pressing the 6 on the number pad 5. When the screen displays Trying to connect

6. Open Cash Register Express 7. Select Options or Manager 8. Enter the appropriate credentials 9. Select Tools 10. Select Inventory Transfer The employee needs to have the * permission to use the Inventory Transfer Screen 11. Select Configuration 12. Select Application Load

13. When the prompt Is the device ready? appears, Select Yes 14. The screen will display Now downloading wait for the download to finish. 15. When the download has finished, the device will return to the main menu. 16. Perform an Inventory Export to the device and test scanning your items to ensure the barcode reader parameters was configured correctly.

Performing a Physical Count As of version 12.8021, you can perform a physical count of your inventory right from the Inventory Transfer Screen. NOTE you can t reverse the changes made by a physical count, it is highly recommended that you make a backup of your database. To learn how to create a backup of the database, click here. 1. Open Cash Register Express 2. Select Options or Manager 3. Enter the appropriate credentials 4. Select Tools 5. Select Inventory Transfer 6. The employee needs to have the * permission to use the Inventory Transfer Screen 7. Select Start New Physical Count 8. Select Yes

9. A list of the items in your inventory will appear. 10. Select the cell in the counted stock column in line with the item whose # in stock you d like to update. 11. Enter the new # in stock amount for the item NOTE: any of the items that were NOT given a new # in stock amount will not be updated to 0, they will have the same # in stock amount as before the physical count. 12. You can select the Discrepancy button to view a discrepancy report to verify the changes that will be made. This is useful to see the changes in stock levels that will be made from the current stock levels to the new stock levels that will be entered in from the count. 13. When you ve finished updating the # in stock for your inventory items select Save Inventory Count 14. Select Yes to confirm the changes you ve made to the inventory. The changes to the # in stock for your items will be saved to the inventory.
