Importance of Training Training is one of the critical components in the framework of Human Resource Development Training enhances the efficiency, growth, quality of skill of new entrants and working employees as well. Increasing the potential of human capital MANDATE OF NASA National Academy of Statistical Administration (NASA) established on 13 th February, 2009 with the following mandate Training on official Statistics and related discipline to the statistical personnel of the Central/State Govt./PSU and neighbouring/ developing countries.
VISION of NASA To be a Centre of Excellence in imparting training on Official Statistics & Related Methodology and undertaking research activities thereto AIMS & OBJECTIVE To strengthen the statistical system by creating trained manpower in theoretical and official statistics in order to manage statistical functions relating to skill development in the field of data collection, compilation, analysis and data dissemination; To create a pool of trainers; To facilitate and organize international training programmes; To assess training need and also develop strategies for capacity development of central and state Governments statistical personnel; To promote and undertake research in official statistics;
Type of Training Progarmmes Domestic: Induction Training Programmes Refresher Training Programmes i ) Mandatory and Domain Specific Trainings Other Training Programmes include: (i) Need Based Progarammes (ii) Awareness Programmes, (iii) TOT programmes and (iv) workshops International Training Progarmmes: INDUCTION TRAINING PROGRAMMES For Indian Statistical Service Officers (ISS) - One and half years and six months on the job training - total of 2 years For Promotee officers from SSS cadre to Junior Time Scale of ISS 6 weeks ( 2 weeks on IT module, 2 weeks on official statistics and Basic Statistics, 1 week on Office Procedures and Communication Skills and one week for field visit) For Subordinate Statistical Personnel (SSS) 6/7 weeks 3 weeks at NASA ( Basic Statistical Techniques & Official Statistics and one week sample survey techniques) and 3/4 weeks at Zonal Training Centres of FOD covering one week on office procedures and two weeks on Computer & its Applications and additional one week on field training for nonfod officials.
REFRESHER TRAINING PROGRMMES Mandatory Prammes for ISS in service Officers- on an average 5 programmes Domain Specific Training Programmes: For (i) ISS officers at lease 6 programmes, (ii) SSS officials -10 programmes of one week duration and (iii) State Statistical Officers from DES 6 programmes with one/two week duration OTEHR TRAINNG PROGRAMMES Training Programme for M.Stat students of ISI- 3 week training on official statistics one week class room lectures and two weeks on project work Training Programmes for popularizing Official Statistics (i) One week programme on official statistics for Heads/Senior Professors of the Departments of Statistics as TOT programme

RESOURCE PERSONS Apart from regular faculty,nasa draws faculty from various Ministries; Invites senior professors from Universities and teaching and reseach institutions. NASA is in collaboration with specialized institutions of national and international repute namely IIMs, Indian Statistical Institutes (ISI), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), IASRI, NIFM, IIPA, IIPS, Labour Bureau, VV Giri National Labour Institute etc Core Statistics: AREAS OF TRAINING Demography & Population studies Index Numbers, Concept of Composite Index, Development Indices; Sample Survey Methodology and designs Designing and Organizing large scale sample survey with focus on NSSO surveys; Data Processing : Data validation, imputation of missing data technique, Analysis and Interpretation of Data and Preparation of Survey Reports; Statistical Methods: Measures of Central Tendency, dispersion, correlation regression, time series, sampling methodology, basics of probability distributions, testing of hypothesis; Applied Econometrics including Time series Analysis and Forecasting (exponential, regression, ARIMA & GARIMA, ARCH & GARCH Models with the help of SPSS and / or STATA and E- views);
Official Statistics AREAS OF TRAINING Fundamentals of Official Statistical System; System of official statistics - Agriculture, Agricultural Census, Irrigation Statistics, Crop Forecasting and Crop Estimation, Land Use and Area Statistics, Animal Husbandry Statistics, Industry, Education, Labour, Health, Environment Statistics, MDG and its monitoring; Financial Statistics including Insurance, Taxation, Banking, Trade- International & internal, BOP, Industrial, Trade Service Statistics; Understanding Budgeting Process in India; Environment Statistics & Natural Resource Accounting; Gender Statistics; System of National Accounts; Planning process, Monitoring & Evaluation of programmes, Poverty and Inequality Estimation; AREAS OF TRAINING IT Related: Basic IT Module (MS Office, Internet & RDBMS); Advanced Training in IT (C ++, Oracle, dot.net, asp.net, visual basic etc.) Module on the use of IT Tools like SPSS, STATA, SAS, R software.;

HOSTEL / RESIDENTIAL BLOCK Hostel Block: 40 single, 30 double bedded AC rooms Total Capacity 100 persons 6 VIPs suites/guest Rooms Common Canteen, Air-conditioned Dinning Hall, Lounge with TV and other entertainment facilities Facilities for indoor and outdoor games, Yoga Centre, Gym to be developed Computers with internet lounge (Planned) Residential Block: 20 residential quarters for officers & staff. Way Forward NASA is going to organize training on official statistics to the other in Service Officers ( IAS, IFS, IA &AS, IRS etc) NASA will be bring out an Annual Journal on Official Statistics NASA will set up research and consultancy wings to enhance the activities of Research NASA is planning to enhance its infrastructure facilities in order to accommodate more national as well as international training programmes.
