About UITP Asia Pacific Training Programmes UITP has set up the Asia Pacific Centre for Transport Excellence with the objectives of consolidating knowledge in the Asia region. These Training Programmes would assist in the growth of Public Transport by building a capacity of solid knowledge in our sector. A wide spectrum of Training Programmes is planned for in various Asian cities. These programmes are in partnership with various UITP members. Through such partnership, these programmes would guarantee the best level of trainers and content are equipped. The programmes are suitable for transport planners, city authorities, operators middle level management, financiers, and other parties who have vested interests in the development and growth of Public Transport in the region. 10 12 December 2014 Seoul, Korea Urban Rail Operation and Maintenance This training programme is partnered with Seoul Metro, with an aim at helping relatively un experienced stakeholders to understand the whole process as straightforward and logical as possible, and to identify and recognize planned and unexpected operation mishaps that will occur during several decades after system opening as well as mitigation strategies and measures. Especially fixed assets maintenance tends to be overlooked during scheme planning stage. Maintaining assets in safe and good conditions is a crucial and costly activity that should be recognized early in the process with a TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) or LCC (Life Cycle Cost) approach. (on or before 10 November 2014) UITP member EUR 800 EUR 1,000 Non member EUR 1,100 EUR 1,400 21 23 January 2015 Hong Kong, China Marketing and Branding for Public Transport This training programme is UITP s newly developed course, launching in Asia Pacific. Partnered with MTR Corporation, to bring expertise from PT authorities and operators on the aspects of customer service, marketing and branding for the last two decades. The training is designed as a practical manual for those authorities and operators which dedicate to the provision of customer centric service, willing to devote energy to build the PT brand in the local city/country, and have a desire to excel marketing innovations. The primary purpose is to provide general understanding to the customer service, branding and marketing projects set up and management, in order to complete the planned scheme on time and budget. (on or before 22 December 2014) UITP member EUR 600 EUR 750 Non member EUR 800 EUR 1,000 9 11 February 2015 LTA UITP Training: Public Transport Fundamentals Training The aim of this programme is to provide fundamental knowledge on public transport and sustainable urban mobility, emphasising the importance of public transport. Tailored to be experiential, the programme includes lectures, discussions and illustrates theories and concepts using practical examples and on the ground sharing of operational experience. The course also provides networking opportunities and allows participants to participate in interactive discussions, sharing their experiences from the countries /regions they represent. This programme is jointly organized by LTA Academy and UITP Asia Pacific. Billing and payment in published SGD. 30 March 1 April 2015 Seoul, Korea Transport Planning and Scheduling This training programme, partnered with Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI), targets city authorities, planning department middle level management, transport planners and those who are interested to master the art of transport planning and scheduling using innovative tools. The course aims to provide basic knowledge on public transport scheduling and planning and presents sophisticated tools, such as Enhanced Location Systems and Intermodal Transport Control System (ITCS) used in transport planning and scheduling of various modes of transport. This training will also demonstrate the use of smartcarddataasatransport planning tool, and its applications in Seoul city. 15 17 April 2015 Hong Kong, China Bus Planning and Operations This UITP s proprietary training programme, together with The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd., aims to provide participants a general overview of the complex and transformative process, and advice on planning, technical, design, legal and funding issues that will be encountered by any scheme promoter. This training cumulates expertise of bus operators across all continents to provide a practical manual for those authorities considering bus system planning and operation; and to equip middle level staff of bus operators the general knowledge of project set up and management in planned scheme of operations. (on or before 16 March 2015) UITP member EUR 800 EUR 1,000 Non member EUR 1,100 EUR 1,400 27 29 April 2015 LTA UITP Training: Contracting in Public Transport Developed and organized by LTA Academy and UITP Asia Pacific, Contracting in Public Transport is designed to introduce participants to key regulatory models and market types (regulated & deregulated markets, the use of competitive tendering) and in particular the use of contracting as a way to regulate public transport services (contract management, bidding, use of incentives etc). The programme combines UITP s international knowledge with LTA s experience as a contracting authority of public transport in. Billing and payment in published SGD. 8 10 July 2015 Hong Kong, China Market Research, Data and Intelligence for Public Transport This training programme is UITP s newly developed course, launching in Asia Pacific. Partnered with MTR Corporation, to provide from basic to middle level marketing research techniques which are appropriate to the public transport sector, taking into examples and best practices from around the world and the region. The role of research in public transport management is manifold to assist in service planning based on demographics, economic and social data, to measure customer satisfaction and to set KPIs for management, to measure how the brand is performing, or to test concepts on new service launches on an ad hoc basis. This training will discuss the different methodologies in data collection that will assist authorities and operators to establish gaps and rolling trend reports for forecasting. (on or before 8 June 2015) UITP member EUR 600 EUR 750 Non member EUR 800 EUR 1,000 Week of 17 August 2015 LTA UITP Training for Managers in Public Transport In partnership with LTA Academy and targeting high potential managers with responsibilities in the administration and operation of public transport, this exciting new 5 day programme aims to provide participants with an advanced, in depth and specialised knowledge of public transport management. Topics include operational management, financing and procurement processes,service contracting, human resources, information technology and security. Details and Programme Fees to be announced soon.

2 4 November 2015 LTA UITP Training: Bus Planning and Operations Jointly organized by LTA Academy and UITP Asia Pacific, this programme seeks to provide participants an overview of the complex and transformative process of bus planning and operations, as well as knowledge on planning, technical designs, legal and funding issues that will be encountered by scheme promoters. This training draws on the best practices and expertise of bus operators from around the world to provide practical knowledge and know how for authorities involved in bus system planning and operations. The training also equips middle level staff with general knowledge of project setup and management for operations.
