Biogas Technology Landfill environmental management. Taking responsibility - meeting your obligations.
Landfill aftercare Our core business Biogas Technology Established in 1988 Biogas Technology Limited brings together the resources and expertise needed to lift the burden of risk, liability and finance faced by landfill operators, and to help you capitalise on commercial opportunities. With many overseas projects and having worked on over 80% of UK landfill sites we are the largest landfill aftercare company within the UK. Our expertise and in-house services enable us to offer a complete range of integrated aftercare options for landfill sites, developed as individually tailored long-term contract schemes. Operating a Landfill site As the owner or operator of a landfill site you have to run the site as a successful business, managing overheads, avoiding over expenditure, meeting and keeping abreast of legislative requirements, finance projects from conception to completion (an unspecified period of time) whilst making the most of the asset potential. Additionally, you must control and manage any risk or liability associated with the toxic gases that are produced by the site. As the owner / operator you are directly accountable for any pollution off site. To do this successfully involves a lot of work from specialist people - which can be a huge burden on internal overheads. Alternatively, to manage this process some sites subcontract services to external companies, however not only do you have to trust the people you employ to maintain your reputation, co-ordinating external resources can be just as time consuming, and costly. This is where Biogas Technology can help
www.biogas.co.uk The Biogas Technology Approach Until recently there has been no simple route to tackling these diverse problems in a cohesive and cost effective way. In effect we take on your day-to-day responsibilities for the ongoing care of the site, monitoring and managing gas and leachate as appropriate to ensure compliance with licence requirement. At Biogas Technology landfill aftercare is our core business - which allows you to get on with yours. The benefits This unique initiative from Biogas Technology offers site operators and local authorities considerable savings in time and money whilst providing constant peace of mind. Project implementation Assessment and recommendation The process usually starts with a site survey, including a desktop study of relevant information, and assessment of the performance of any gas and leachate control measures. This then leads to our recommendation for the management of gas and leachate and preparation of the aftercare plan. Project implementation The Contract Site Aftercare Plan from Biogas comprises of three stages: assessment and recommendation, system design and installation and ongoing environmental management. The aim of the plan will be to provide reliable and cost effective compliance with all licences and regulatory requirements such as ATEX Directive, PPC Compliance and Environment Agency compliance, whilst optimising activity within the site to shorten the time until it is rendered inert. System design and implementation Once the aftercare plan has been agreed with all the relevant parties the next step is the detailed design of any systems required for the effective control and monitoring of gas and leachate, or upgrade of existing facilities as appropriate.
www.biogas.co.uk Aftercare Management The rigorous implementation of a monitoring and maintenance programme for the site and the systems is then installed in order to ensure their continuing effectiveness throughout the contract period. Our methods ensure the optimum performance of the site with adjustments made on a regular basis, which can be carried out either remotely or manually by our team of experts in response to changing conditions. We then communicate our performance by providing regular reports on site activity so you can be rest assured the site is in good hands. Renewable Energy Systems Landfill gas is a resource, which should be profitably harnessed - essentially combining utilisation with effective gas management. The methane produced by landfill sites is used as a fuel driving a generator to produce renewable electricity. Turning a potential liability into a lucrative resource. Our sister company ENER. G Natural Power is the UK s leading independent expert in the exploitation of landfill gas and has a strong track record in delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions for its customers.
www.biogas.co.uk This electricity qualifies internationally for Government incentives, developed to encourage the generation of renewable power by issuing green certificates (financial incentives on the value of green energy). We have implemented this technology on many sites and are able to expertly guide you through the process. For more information on our renewable energy systems and to find out how you can realise the revenue potential of your site - without capital investment please contact us on 01487 831 701.
