Position Description Carers Victoria General Manager Business Support The Position Carers Victoria is seeking to appoint an ideal candidate to the role of General Manager Business Support to direct and manage innovative business development and commercial support across the organisation. The incumbent has direct responsibility for Finance, Payroll, Procurement, ICT, commercialising products and Sales. The position will be responsible for implementing commercial business development and entrepreneurial initiatives and projects to improve performance, productivity and revenue diversification across all functions of the organisation. As such, the incumbent will have a major role in implementing the strategic and operational plans of the business in collaboration with the CEO. Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager Business Support will establish and further develop key strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Finance, Payroll, ICT and Procurement departments are adding value to the business. The General Manager Business Support will provide appropriate advice and support on all commercial and financial matters. The incumbent will deliver a range of commercial and financial outcomes including, but not limited to: strategic business planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting, new business modelling and commercial initiatives, and operational improvement such as providing advice and support in managing and improving business processes and systems. The incumbent will be expected to apply their significant commercial acumen and experience in the delivery of business goals and objectives, budget targets and reporting requirements through the ongoing development of sophisticated commercial modelling and analysis, to provide strategic commercial and financial advice and support to the CEO. The position has direct responsibility for the organisation s purchasing and finance functions and will work as part of the Leadership team. The major challenges for the role in the first 12 months will be as follows: Supporting the development of a commercial Business Strategy Developing an ICT Strategy to support the new Strategic Plan, including ongoing evaluation of the organisation wide integrated carer IT system Supporting the success of the Fundraising Strategy Developing unit costing for our services and educating the organisation on its value and usage Supporting service reviews and new business opportunities with financial analysis Supporting the implementation of organisation wide KPIs Implementing our Investment Strategy Enhancing the Financial and Reporting systems Supporting the development of an online service delivery capability for carers Reviewing all areas of Business Support to ensure efficient and effective practices are implemented. Sourcing and maximising business development opportunities, for example proactively sourcing new funding partnerships for service innovations and growth Strategic projects and reporting Coordinate and lead the development of reports to the CEO and Board on organisation performance against the strategic, business and budget plans and ongoing service performance. Provide advice to the CEO on key business and commercial risks. Analyse sales and operational opportunities and recommend implementation and margin improvement initiatives that will diversify funding streams Development of commercial feasibility assessments, business plans and business cases, preparation of financial assessments, including identification and analysis of financing options, development of financial models, prepare strategic and risk assessments and conduct of revenue and expenditure analysis Continually analyse current operational and infrastructure costs to identify savings Benchmark the commercial operations to identify future business initiatives and cost savings Participate in tenders for new or existing business, as well as commercial development/s and project/s on an as required basis. Financial management Accountable for the optimal utilisation of the organisations resources to achieve goals and objectives Manage the functional work areas including; Finance, Assets, Business Intelligence and projects, Business Analysis and future enterprises. Within prescribed authority limits, approve expenditure of budget items Budget management including whole of organisation budget development, planning, forecasting, variance and performance reporting Procurement Manage, plan, direct, and oversee the purchasing function including procurement, inventory management, and cost control of purchased goods and services Information and business systems Provide leadership and management oversight to the ICT function. Department management Oversee the management of recruitment for the Finance, Payroll, ICT and Purchasing functions Monitor procedures for communication with staff under supervision including, annual staff appraisals Develop training plan to ensure staff have and maintain appropriate skills. Ensuring that all relevant Policies and Procedures are maintained and documented. Ensuring that all employees working in the business unit are cognisant of the procedures which may be involved in their job Lead and provide support to the Business Support staff in the achievement of organisational and Departmental tasks and priorities. Set clear key performance indicators for Business Support staff and ensure regular performance feedback. Implement, monitor and report on strategies that ensure the highest level of customer support and service is available from Business Support to internal and external clients. Key Selection Criteria In order to be shortlisted for this role you will need to fulfil and provide examples in each of the following: Essential: Desirable: CA or CPA, with appropriate tertiary qualification in business and/or commerce, ability to demonstrate innovative and successful experience in a similar commercial position in the for purpose sector. have a minimum of 5 years experience at a senior management level, reporting directly to a CEO. have recent commercial accounting experience which involved budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting and decision support for the business. have modelling level MS Excel skills. have demonstrated in your career that you are organised, productive, driven to achieve goals and add value. be a confident communicator who can demonstrate through your experience that you can build relationships, conceptualise commercial ideas into financial models and prepare effective presentations to a variety of audiences.
