It offers virtually unlimited design options, yet fully complies with Section 102219 of AIA s MASTERSPEC and the NAICS Code 337214 for unitized panel partitions. In new or retrofit applications, the FC-300 system is easily managed and moved by in-house personnel. M/W International Inc. guarantees product rematch and rework for the life of the building. GSA Schedule 711-13 1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Demountable Partition System: All-steel, modular width panels with recessed vertical joints, complete vertical adjustment, telescoping end fillers, accessories and trim. A. System design: 1. Non-progressive panel assembly, permitting extensions of 2-, 3-, and 4-way junctions without removing adjacent units and easy rearrangement with 100 percent re-usability of all parts. 2

2. Panel height: Full-height to ceiling; up to 10-6. 3. Panel Widths: As indicated on drawings. 4. Vertical joint width: 5/8 inch. 5. Vertical assembled joint width: per joint, + or 3/64 inch. 6. Horizontal element alignment for slotting, glass mullions and overall panel height: + or 3/64 inch. 7. Electrical: Provide an electrical raceway from floor to ceiling and at partition base through each partition run. 8. Weight: Each wall panel shall weigh no more than four pounds per square foot. B. Performance Requirements: 1. Sound control: Meet or exceed 42 to 46 STC rating when tests are conducted under ASTME E 90 without field packing cavities. 2. Fire retardant of all components: ASTM E 84 Class A Flame spread less than 10, smoke developed less than 10. Toxicity reports shall be available upon request. 3. Load and endurance performance: Comply with ANSI/BIFMA X5.6. 1.5 SUBMITTALS Submit under provisions of Section 013300. Product Data: Manufacturer s catalog data and installation methods. Shop Drawings: Show layout of panels including plan views, elevations, horizontal and vertical section drawings. Selection Samples: Complete range of color and pattern options. Verification Samples: Manufacturer s finish and color samples, to verify ranges & types. Certificates and test reports. 1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE Testing: Test partition system to substantiate compliance with specified performance requirements. A. Sound control: Perform test without packing cavities in the field; provide test data obtained by a qualified independent testing agency. B. Fire retardant: Provide rating certificate of a nationally recognized testing and labeling service, such as Underwriters Laboratories. 3

C. Load and endurance performance: Provide test data obtained by a qualified independent testing agency. D. Obtain all components of partition system from one manufacturer, excluding fasteners and non-metallic parts. E. Installer Qualifications: Minimum of five years experience on completed jobs of similar size and scope; qualified and certified by the manufacturer. 1.7 DELIVERIES, STORAGE AND HANDLING Deliver pre-finished materials to the project site in original, unopened cartons or other packaging materials necessary to protect finishes. A. Label packages clearly with manufacturer s name and item description. B. Materials to be stored in such packaging until installation. C. Components to be stored in vertical position with adequate support to ensure flatness and to prevent damage to pre-finished surfaces. 1.8 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Do not deliver materials or begin work until building is enclosed with complete protection from outside weather and temperature within building is being maintained at a minimum of 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not subject components to temperature, moisture or humidity extremes. All other construction activity to be completed and cleared of any construction debris, before installation of partition system can begin. 1.9 WARRANTY MWI manufactured products are warranted for Ten (10) years from date of purchase 1.10 MAINTENANCE MATERIALS Recommended Extra Components: A. Provide: 1. Extra panels of each type. 2. Extra end filler panels. 3. Extra doors and frames. 4. Extra layout materials 4

PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURER Provide the FC-300 Demountable Partition System manufactured by: 2.2 MATERIALS M/W International, Inc. 1019 Evans Ave Akron, Ohio, 44305. A. Exposed Steel: Galvanneal, commercial quality furniture stock, properly annealed and leveled to provide a smooth and defect-free surface. Finish on All Exposed Steel: Baked-on or powder coated finish coats, alkyd resin-aminoplast resin coated hybrids; resultant film hardness complying with ASTM D 3363 2H pencil hardness test. 1. Color: 2. Color(s): As selected by Architect from manufacturer s standard range. B. Fasteners for Connection to Floor, Ceiling, and Building Structure: Concealed, nondestructive, and non-marring. 2.3 PARTITION COMPONENTS A. Ceiling channels: 18 Gauge steel, recessed or flush with panel face sheet, engaged by top of panel units, holding panel tops rigid against lateral movement, and providing continuous light and sound seal at ceiling. 1. Height: Approximately 2 to 3 ½ inches 2. Fasten securely to suspended ceiling using non-destructive locking ceiling grid twist clip fasteners. B. Floor Channels: 18 gauge steel, unitized with vertical flanges 1-5/8 inches high to permit overlap of base trim covers. 1. Optional: inverted channel carpet gripper to prevent lateral movement of partition and provide continuous sound and light seal. C. End Fillers for Wall Connections: 20 gauge steel, with telescopically adjustable wall starter, to compensate for fixed wall irregularities from 1 to 12. 1. Make end filler faces flush with adjacent panel faces. 2. Join to adjacent panels with standard vertical joint. 3. Fill with acoustical insulation before installation when required. D. Electrical Raceways: Factory installed, conforming to UL 183. 5

E. Slotted Support Channels for Accessories: Compatible with Genesis Stackable office Furniture and all major manufacturers open plan furniture. 1. Make provision for changing slots in the field. F. Base Trim: 20 gauge steel, nominal 4 or 5 inches high; flush, recessed with or projecting from panel sheet, flat and continuous without plinths or panel unit width with plinths. 1. Make provision for base trim to be independently removable from either side of partition to permit lay-in electrical and communication wiring into empty UL compliant raceway. 2. Make provision for base covers to be field modified for custom or continuous location access of data and power porting. 2.4 ALL PANELS (INCLUDING DOOR FRAMES): A. Steel panels: Provide 20 Gauge concealed inner roll formed or brake formed reinforcement channel mechanically locked to integral vertical formed edge of panel sheets and at each panel intersection. Reinforcement channels shall extend the full height of the partition completely concealed within panel. 1. Join panel units together at outer slotted verticals by means of external recessed PVC extrusion. 2. Slotted outer verticals are attached with fasteners or spot welding. 3. Standard ¼ x 5/8 slots, 1 on center, are used to hang office furniture components. i. Custom slot patterns available when specified. 3. Provide screw levelers for vertical panel adjustment on all partitions and door frames. B. Solid Panel Units: Flush steel sheet faced, factory assembled into complete units with a 20 Gauge roll formed or break formed concealed inner vertical. C. Panel faces: Stretcher level quality 20 gauge furniture stock with edges formed and locked to inner vertical. 1. Layer internally with structural hexacomb and acoustical insulation. 2. Thickness: 2-5/16 inches (60mm). 3. Face finish: Powder coat with color(s) as selected by Architect. 4. Face finish: Fabric backed heavy-duty vinyl wall covering as selected by Architect. 5. Face finish: Fabric as selected by Architect. 6. Face finish: Enameled steel chalkboard; color:. 7. Face finish: Stainless steel Type 304, No. 4 satin-brushed finish. 8. into complete units. 1. Horizontal rails: One-piece, 20 Gauge Galvanneal steel. 2. Provision for glazing: Provide recessed glazing groove; do not use top-or surface applied glazing moldings or stops; do not use exposed screws. 3. Mullion width: 1 ½ to 2 ¼ inches. Glazing: All glazing factory installed; furnish glass to manufacturer for installation. 1. Glass: 6mm to ¼ inch clear laminated safety glass, with safety glazing label or certification supplied separately. 2. Glass: 6mm to 3/8 inch obscure fully tempered insulated units, with safety glazing label. 3. Glass: Type(s) as indicated on drawings. 4. Glass: as specified. 5. Glazing strips: PVC. 6. Do not use exposed screws or moldings to secure glazing. E. Wall panels to accommodate standard electrical boxes or 8-wire plug and play system. 2.5 DOOR and DOORFRAME COMPONENTS A. Doors Partition (manufacturer s standard hollow metal): 1. 18 gauge steel faces and edges, reinforced for hardware, and layered with hexacomb liner. 2. Hinge reinforcement: 14 gauge steel. 3. Closer reinforcement: 16 gauge steel. Doors Partition (manufacturer s standard hollow core): 1. 18 gauge galvanneal steel with hex-a-comb core and 14 gauge hinge and strike reinforcements. 1. Thickness: 1-3/4 inches 2. Clearances: 1/8 inch at jambs and head. 3. Glazed lights: Use safety glazing for lights over 9 inches in any dimension. Secure glazing without the use of screws or surface applied moldings. B. Doors Partition (manufacturer s standard solid particleboard core, wood-veneer faced, with internal blocking for hardware.) C. Doors Partition (manufacturer s standard solid particleboard core, high-pressure plastic laminate faced, with internal blocking for hardware and hardwood edges.) D. Door Frames: Unitized, welded 18 Gauge steel with continuous side and head jamb strike and resilient sound seals. 1. Height: Full height of the partitions with telescoping channel to accommodate changes in the ceiling height without field cutting. 2. Anchors: Anchor frames to the floor using jamb plates, which are fastened to the adjacent floor channel. 7

3. Make provision for an electrical light switch in each doorjamb; see drawings or Division 16 for type of switch required. E. Doors and doorframes available in double door configurations. F. Single and Double Doorframes available with all steel or all glass transoms. G. Door Hardware: See Section 087111- Door Hardware. PART 3 EXECUTIONS 3.1 EXAMINATION Before installation, examine the site to ensure that no defects or conditions exist, which would result in an unsatisfactory installation of the partitions. Take field measurements at this time to ensure correct installation. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. All other construction activity to be completed and cleared of any construction debris, before installation of partition system can begin. B. Install partitions after floor coverings and acoustical ceilings have been installed. C. Anchor partitions to floor and ceiling using concealed, non-destructive fastening devices. D. Install partitions rigid, level, plumb and straight in alignment with other components, in accordance with manufacturer s instructions. Leave partitions complete, clean and free from defects in workmanship. E. Install doorframes, doors and door hardware. 3.3 CLEANING Thoroughly adjust and lubricate doors and hardware for proper working condition.
