TRAFFORD COLLEGE JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Course Co-ordinator Psychology, maternity cover with an anticipated end date of 01.04.13 UPDATED: December 2011 JOB PURPOSE: RESPONSIBLE TO: To manage the designated learning programmes so that students achieve their expected learning outcomes Head of Department A Levels MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Co-ordination Responsibilities 1. To agree with the relevant Programme Quality Leader appropriate targets for retention, achievement and success rates 2. To liaise with the Head of Department and appropriate Programme Quality Leader to ensure that all required submissions are made to the relevant awarding body 3. To regularly monitor MIS data to ensure all transfers and withdrawals are up to date and that students are entered for appropriate examinations. 4. To take an active part in the Course Review and Self assessment processes 5. To chair and/or contribute to team meetings as appropriate 6. To ensure that the verification processes meet the requirements of external moderation 7. To liaise with employers 8. To contribute to the Departments apprenticeship programmes Teaching and Learning 1. To effectively plan, prepare and teach on a Psychology courses within the section and mark and assess students work, including examinations, contributing to the management of the utilities curriculum programmes. 2. To complete necessary registration of attendance documents and provide other relevant data as required. 3. To be a personal tutor to designated groups and implement an appropriate induction programme 4. Ensure that full schemes of work and assessment schedules are in place for each unit of the learning programme 5. To assess student development through individual action plans, records of achievement and student profiles and act on the information as appropriate. 6. 2 7. To supervise student visits and work placement programmes. 8. To undertake work in connection with enquiries, student admissions and educational advice, guidance and counselling and marketing activities. 9. To contribute to the day to day organisation, running and administration of the Section and ensure schemes of work and syllabus files are kept up to date. 10. To maintain student discipline, taking full regard of the requirements of the College s Health and Safety Policy and Equal Opportunities Policies. 11. To contribute to the cost effectiveness and efficiency of the programmes. 12. To maintain awareness of development trends within teaching practice, and be committed to professional / vocational development, participating in training and development activities as required. General 1. To undertake such other duties that may be reasonably required by the Principal commensurate with grade at the initial place of work and at other locations within the College catchment area. 2. 5 TERMS AND CONDITIONS Course Co-ordinator Psychology Salary - 32,121.00-33,252.00 pa Working Hours - You will be expected to work such hours as are reasonably necessary for the proper performance of your duties and responsibilities, normally 35 hours per week. You may from time to time be required to work on a Saturday, providing adequate notice has been given. If you are required to work regularly on a Saturday arrangements will be made to allow you to have two consecutive days off in the following seven-day period. Holidays - Annual leave is 55 working days inclusive of Bank and Public Holidays (based on a 5 day working week). You will be required to use up to 5 working days of your holiday entitlement on days when the Corporation s activities are suspended. Payment - Staff are paid monthly in arrears by credit transfer. Probationary Period - The successful candidate will be required to complete a probationary period of six months. Notice - The appointment will be terminable by three months notice in writing on either side. Smoking - The College operates a no smoking policy. General - The successful candidate will be required to complete medical forms and undergo a full medical examination. - The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of eligibility to work in Great Britain in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, before employment may commence and undertake a CRB disclosure if not already completed. For staff who do not possess the required teaching qualification, the appointment will be subject to successful completion of the teaching qualification within two years of the first suitable course start date. This position is offered on a fixed term basis to 1 st April 2013 as a result of the maternity leave of the current post holder.
