April 2017 ROW Tracker, June 2017 Product Differentiator No Motion Dampers, innovative self locking mechanism One of the widest tolerances to sloped lands Least number of child parts, very easy to install, saves install time and cost Cost competitive and Bankable (same bearings and controller variants of the IE verified Array Trackers) Having a mix of Row and Block Tracker, Scorpius is the ONLY company in the world to provide both tracker variants under one roof
April 2017 DESIGN VALUE ADDITIONS Understanding thedesign Goals 1. Get the maximum generation for available land? 2. Get maximum Generation for installed kwp? 3. Which trackertechnology to use (Horizontal Single Axis / 10 Deg Tilt / newcustomised concept) 4. What is optimum DC to AC ratio that the inverter will allow for that plant. This should be first priority as this will generate the max units possible when COMBINED with tracker. 5. Optimal spacing between tracker rows to make sure that the DC fits into the plot. Recommendation s to utilize the max DC to AC ratio (1.15 or 1.2 - whatever the inverter manufacturer allows) and use trackers for the additional gain at that DC to AC ratio AND at the max pitch possible for the available plot of land. INNOVATION in Design services 1. Civil foundations : faster installation protocols in ramming to save labor & time, Laser alignment 2. Civil Marking : using tools like a Differential GPS with direct Marker to CAD tools DESIGN scope 1. Plant Layout 2. Civil Foundation DesignandLayouts 3. Foundation Methodology : depending on soil, cost of labor, time available for install, plant size
Trackers will continue to be relevant for Solar PV due to design optimization leading to cost reduction. Trackers provide 100-150 bps increase in IRR despite the expected sharp decline in module prices (as low as 0.23$ per Wp) Solar trackers are being adopted worldwide on account of increased generation and improved IRRs Global Tracker Market in GW 37.7 5 2015 2021 E Source: GTM Research report The Global PV Tracker Landscape 2016 Global Tracker Penetration 25% 20152016 E 49% 20172018201920202021 E E E E E Tracking % of Ground Mount Over the past few years, the industry has begun to move away from fixed-tilt racking structures to trackers due to their higher energy yield. Horizontal, single-axis trackers are now the leading choice among trackers since they can deliver 20-30%* more energy without the added cost and complexities of dual-axis or azimuth tracking systems By 2018, the Asia-Pacific region will be the largest regional market for trackers, as the Indian utility market grows and the Chinese market matures The USA will remain the leading market for trackers through 2021 (>70% of US groundmount projects with trackers) The global value of tracker installations will top $4.9 billion (37.7 GW) in 2021 $ Bn Indian Market $ 480 Mn SCORPIUS : RELIABLE design, DURABLE for 35+ years, BANKABLE, proven TRACK RECORD 4.9 2021 1 2015 Source : GTM Research
Single Axis Trackers offer several advantages over Fixed Tilt systems Higher and more uniform Generation Solar PV system with Single Axis Trackers provides up to 20%* more generation compared to a Fixed Tilt Solar PV System. Fixed tilt system will need to be oversized to match the generation provided by tracker and inverter will clip the power output beyond a point in oversized systems resulting in clipping losses. The generation profile of a tracker based system is more uniform and flat providing higher generation during peak hours than a fixed tilt system which has a bell shaped generation profile peaking during mid-day Lower Grid Downtime Impact Generation Spread across Entire Day Lower O&M costs For the same required generation, the DC capacity of PV system with trackers will be lower than the DC capacity of Fixed Tilt PV system. Due to smaller system size, the Operations & Maintenance costs will be lower for system with trackers. Smaller system size will also mean that a smaller team will be required for O&M activity. Higher Return on Investment The cost of higher required DC capacity will increase EPC and land costs for Fixed Tilt systems which will offset the additional structural cost required for tracker installation. Also higher O&M costs will raise operating costs for Fixed tilt systems. The lower capital and operating costs for PV system with trackers will result in higher ROI.
RELIABILITY What is a Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory? Cutting-edge facility for wind tunnel testing and analysis methods that provides planners with solutions to complex wind engineering problems at the project design stage Examines the effects of wind on tall buildings, longspan bridges and multiple other structures Solves such environmental problems as wind-driven rain and predictions of the effects of severe wind storms, such as hurricanes ensuring safety parameters are met successfully Tested in Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel facility, certified for BANKABILITY Covers snow engineering, wind climate studies and analysis of pedestrian-level winds Click here for the video GOOD tracker designs are based on boundary layer wind tunnel data taken in an actual wind tunnel. Such designs consider DYNAMIC wind behaviour and AERO ELASTIC INSTABILITY
