POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Web Graphics Designer CATEGORY: Professional Support FLSA STATUS: Exempt GRADE: I (Technology Support) JOB SUMMARY: Contribute to all phases of the development and implementation of the College s websites including code and content materials for web consumption. Conceptualize, design, and produce creative communication materials that achieve departmental and College goals including websites, publications, newsletters and training materials. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Plan, design, implement, and maintain websites, using both technical and nontechnical skills to produce websites that meet the College s mission, goals, objectives and requirements; adhere to best practices and latest web technologies to produce responsive, efficient, and dynamic web designs. 2. Design and develop visual stunning concepts and layouts for a variety of web pages and print communications; create graphic images such as logos, banners, and newsletter layouts using a variety of mediums to achieve artistic and aesthetic designs; modify and correct photos and pictures to obtain superior results and frequently update needed website(s) content. 3. Provide quality control of all web pages and web content ensure all web and printed graphic image sizes and resolution requirements are correct in order to obtain superior results; exercise due diligence in troubleshooting, testing and analyzing codes and designs in all browsers before release to production and determining solutions. 4. Conduct and arrange for ongoing technical training for faculty, staff, and students by developing and designing training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials. 5. Collaborate with team members on strategy and web content development and layout; communicate website design strategies, guidelines, and workflows to team members and end-users; assist in insuring compliance with the College s standards relating to security and data protection. 6. Engage in professional development as needed to stay current in communication design, graphic design, related computer hardware and software needs; maintain awareness of emerging web, design, and social trends and techniques. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Webmaster ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor s Degree in Design, Media Advertising, Computer Information Systems or related field. EPERIENCE: Five (5) years of related experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Advanced computer skills specific to web technologies including strong knowledge of HTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jquery, REST, JSON, and ML; Comprehensive knowledge of ASP.NET, and related web services; Comprehensive knowledge of graphic design, concept development, layout composition, color theory, typography and publication production as well as marketing and branding strategies utilized in web media and in print; Demonstrated proficiency at a high level utilizing Adobe Creative Suite programs, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat; Exceptional organizational and planning skills, including rigorous attention to detail and follow-through; Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive productive environment; Ability to maintain confidentiality of work related information and materials; Ability to communicate and interact with individuals at all levels of the institution; Ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and inclusion. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer, imaging equipment, scanners, printers and a variety of equipment associated with a general office and client server environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of word processing and spreadsheets, database, e-mail, and presentation software in addition to Adobe Creative Suite programs, Adobe Creative Suite programs, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat.
