> GRouTING systems The experience and expertise to deliver the right grouting solution for the job Grouting is the most diverse of all specialty geotechnical disciplines. It encompasses a range of individual techniques to cater to a broad spectrum of soil or rock applications and challenges.

The Moretrench Advantage ADVANTAGE Moretrench encompasses a range of specialized service divisions, each staffed with highly skilled and experienced personnel. When the project calls for more than one of the services that we offer, our divisions work as a closelyknit team to develop and deliver a coordinated approach that often enhances the overall construction schedule. Whether it s a small job or a multi-million dollar project, unit price or turnkey, Moretrench has the technical capability, the equipment resources, and the bonding capacity to undertake private or public sector projects nationwide.

> EXPERIENCE is FLEXIBLITY From simple void filling to the complex and challenging protection of historic and sensitive structures during soft ground tunneling beneath, grouting plays an important role in many construction projects. Selection of the most appropriate grouting method and type of grout is a function of the geotechnical conditions and the project objective. Moretrench has the technologies, resources and expertise to design and to implement the optimum grouting program and has provided site-specific solutions for such diverse clients as homeowners, commercial and residential property owners and developers, industrial manufacturers, dam and reservoir owners, power plant owners, State and Federal transportation authorities, and waste-water treatment plant owners. Whether the grouting program is part of planned construction or in response to an emergency situation, Moretrench has the experience to deliver the solution you need, when you need it.

> Grouting techniques Low Mobility Compaction Grouting Low mobililty grouting (LMG) is the pressurized injection of the in situ soil with a relatively stiff, low slump grout. The grout does not permeate the soil matrix but rather forms a bulbous mass around the point of injection. LMG can be used to meet a range of project objectives. When the intent of the grouting program is to displace and densify the surrounding soils, LMG is better known as compaction grouting. The technique can be accomplished in low-headroom or restricted access conditions, often with minimal disruption to normal facility activities. Bearing capacity improvement Foundation settlement control Liquefaction potential mitigation Sinkhole remediation Karst stabilization Area pre-treatment Fracture & Compensation Grouting Fracture grouting is the intentional fracturing of the ground by high-pressure injection of a cement-based grout, creating intertwined lenses or veins of grout in order to provide reinforcement and improvement of the soil matrix. Grouting is performed through sleeve port pipes in several phases, with repeat injections at each port to ensure the formation of multiple fractures through the soil. Compensation grouting is accomplished utilizing the fracture grouting technique but with the specific design intent of inducing tightly-controlled ground heave to compensate for potential structural settlement or to control/reverse ongoing settlement. Structural settlement control Soil reinforcement Increased stand-up time in fine soils Prevention of anticipated settlement during shallow soft ground tunneling Permeation Grouting Permeation grouting, typically accomplished with sleeve port pipes, is the injection of low-viscosity grout (sodium silicate, acrylate or polyurethane) into the pores of granular soils without displacing or changing the soil structure. The characteristics of the ground are modified with the hardening or gelling of the grout. Permeation grouting is used to either increase the strength and cohesion of the soil or to decrease its hydraulic conductivity for groundwater control. Groundwater cut-off Soil stabilization for excavation support Contaminant containment or exclusion Bathtub window or gap closure Sealing of high permeability backfill

> GRouTING TEChNIquEs I continued Structural Seepage Grouting Structural seepage grouting is the sealing of flowpaths by grouting directly into defects (cracks, joints or open separations) in the floors, walls or roof of a structure. Since the work is typically accomplished under flowing water conditions, quick-acting, water-reactive polyurethane grouts are typically used. Wet basements Underground parking level Underground chambers Slurry walls Steel sheeting Mud slabs Hot Bitumen / High Inflow Grouting Hot bitumen grouting is the injection of a very fluid bitumen grout to plug high-volume water flowpaths through rock formations. As the bitumen comes into contact with water it loses heat, rapidly becoming extremely viscous and resistant to washout. Injections are repeated until full closure of the flowpath is achieved. Cut-off of highvolume water inflow into quarries and dams Jet Grouting Jet grouting is accomplished with high-pressure, high-velocity jets located on a drill-mounted monitor. Simultaneous jetting and grouting hydraulically erodes, mixes and partially replaces the in situ soil or weak rock with cementitious grout slurry to create an engineered soil-cement product of high strength and low hydraulic conductivity. Jet grouting can be performed above or below the water table and in most subsurface stratigraphies from cohesionless soils to plastic clays. Groundwater control or cut-off Structural underpinning Utility support Excavation support Soft soil stabilization Slope stabilization Hazardous waste containment Rock Curtain Grouting Rock curtain grouting is the filling of fractures and fissures in rock with a balanced stable cementitious grout mix to reduce hydraulic conductivity, strengthen or stabilize the rock, or both. The grout curtain is constructed by the drilling and grouting of closely spaced holes oriented to optimize the intersection of rock joints. Dam seepage / pressure control Permeable rock pre-treatment or seepage control Grouting of a waterbearing zone to facilitate shaft excavation
