4 Underground Construction Gulf Rock offers a complete range of main contractor underground excavation and rock support services. This diversity allows Clients requiring underground space, a direct project partner who is capable of providing all aspects from site investigation to final hand-over. Prescribed rock support is installed using in-house modern shotcrete spray methodology, rock bolting, spiling, forepoling, pre-injection grouting and steel arch support. Waterproofing and final concrete lining scopes are also offered to supply a complete structure. Gulf Rock is specialised in drill & blast as well as mechanical NATM excavation techniques. The formed cut profiles are continuously monitored by laser scanner and photogrammetry methods and are analysed by task specific software. This allows full control of the as-built environment and helps define design parameters for the next advance. With experienced personnel and a fleet of purpose built equipment, Gulf Rock is one of the region s leaders in the underground construction of tunnels, shafts or any required void in rock formations. 5 Rock Supply Gulf Rock offers a broad selection of limestone rock products in bulk from it s own quarry: Crushed rock aggregates and sands produced to BS 882 for ready mix concrete, precast concrete, water filtration and construction applications. Low silica limestone coarse aggregates for use in the steel industry. Feedstock for cement manufacture. Manufactured fine sand gradings for mortars and pipeline bedding. Selected marine gradings including hearting, rip-rap and rock armour made to CIRIA specifications. High capacity loading machinery combined with a central quarry location ensures a low delivered cost per ton to the customer. 6 Civil Engineering Projects With numerous major infrastructure projects to its credit, Gulf Rock is equipped to tackle any earthworks assignment requiring rock excavation and formation of a compacted fill embankment to a specific design profile. Laser surveying techniques control the as-built cut profile and aid geotechnical assessment. Designed rock support for slope stabilisation can be installed simultaneously with the cutting operations, or remotely using cranes from the final road or platform formation level. Gulf Rock has had a long involvement in civil engineering projects ranging from road cuts to dam spillways and its work is visible all over the Gulf region. MARINE WORKS Gulf Rock has completed a variety of coastal structures such as marinas, breakwaters, coastal revetments & onshore slope protection works. 7 Civil Engineering Projects CONTRACT SERVICE Gulf Rock provides contract rock drilling & blasting services to a variety of quarries linked to cement and construction material production throughout the region. On-site blast design and quarry layout are constantly reviewed with the Client in order to ensure optimum fragmentation and profitability, as well as full compliance to local and federal rules and regulations. CONTOUR BLASTING Unparalleled experience enables Gulf Rock to achieve accurate slope contouring by using pre-split and smooth blasting techniques customised to any geology. CLOSE PROXIMITY BLASTING Blasting in close proximity to populated areas and structures with minimal disturbance is a speciality. Stringent safety planning ensures that ground vibrations are minimized, rock movement is controlled and all aspects of federal environmental laws are adhered to. TRENCH BLASTING Evidence of controlled trench blasting by Gulf Rock is present in many gas, water distribution and mains drainage pipelines operating in the region today.
