CORE FOCUS Enhancing National Competitiveness ASLI focuses on enhancing National Competitiveness. ASLI has held Roundtables on how to enhance National Competitiveness. ASLI's Industry Summits and Forums also look at how different Key Sectors can be more competitive. ASLI's CEO was appointed by the Prime Minister to be a Member of Malaysia's Competition Commission which seeks to promote competition and oversee the implementation of the Competition Act enacted by Parliament in 2010.
CORE FOCUS Promoting Human Rights ASLI also advocates better human rights and organises various programmes to promote Human Rights. ASLI Directors Tan Sri Dr. Ramon Navaratnam and Tan Sri Dr. Michael Yeoh have served as Commissioners in Malaysia's National Human Rights Commission (SUHAKAM) and are co-founders of the Association for Promotion of Human Rights (PROHAM).
CORE FOCUS Strengthening Regional Cooperation ASLI believes in strengthening Regional Cooperation and Economic Integration. Towards this end, ASEAN has created and established the Annual Series of ASEAN Leadership Forums now in its 9th edition. The ASEAN Leadership Forum series bring together Heads of Governments, Ministers, Business and Civil Society Leaders to discuss the critical issues and challenges facing ASEAN. ASLI's CEO was also appointed Malaysia's Representative to the ASEAN High Level Task Force on Connectivity which developed the ASEAN Connectivity Master Plan.
CORE FOCUS Developing Human Capital and Leadership ASLI believes in the crucial importance of Human Capital and Leadership. Towards this end, ASLI has organised the annual series of Malaysian Education Summits and the Human Resource Summits. ASLI also organised the ASEAN Education Forum and the World Leadership Conference. Reports from these programmes are submitted to relevant Ministries and Agencies.
CORE FOCUS Fighting Corruption, Strengthening Integrity ASLI is committed to fighting corruption and strengthening business and public ethics and integrity in management. ASLI has organised the World Ethics and Integrity Forum and the 1st ever Anti-Corruption Summit. ASLI's CEO was appointed by the Prime Minister to be a Member of Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Commission Advisory Board. ASLI's Director Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam served as the Chairman of MACC's Corruption Prevention Panel and was former President of Transparency International, Malaysia.

PUBLIC POLICY STUDIES ASLI's Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS) carries out research studies on nation-building contributing to important public debates on ethnic relations, good governance and corruption, poverty and income inequalities, education and human capital development, national competitiveness and sustainable development. The CPPS programmes are aimed at building a fair and just multiracial, multi-religious society. Our work is a mixture of research and consultancy, policy analysis and research, advocacy, awareness campaigns, workshops, roundtables and dialogues and political commentary.. ASLI s Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS) ranked top 6 best think tanks in the Southeast Asia and the Pacific Region.
ASLI PUBLICATIONS ASLI produces a number of publications such as the ASLI Review, Malaysia Today, 21st Century Malaysia, the Banking & Financial Industry, Profiles of Excellence, CEO Malaysia, 5 Men & 5 Ideas. WORLD FORUMS ASLI had initiated and organized a number of World Forums which bring together Government Business and Thought Leaders as well as representatives from Trade, Industry and Professional Associations, Universities, Think tanks and Civil Society. BUSINESS COUNCILS ASLI has initiated a number of bilateral business councils aimed at facilitating trade and investments and business partnerships with a number of countries. It acts as the secretariat for the: Malaysian - British Business Council Malaysia - China Business Council Malaysia - US Business Council Malaysia - Russia Business Council Malaysia - Indonesia Business Council Malaysia - Turkey Business Council Through these Business Councils a number of Business Forums have been held in London, New York, San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai, Moscow, Jakarta, Singapore, Hannover, Munich, Sydney, Manila, Fukuoka, New Delhi and Sun City (South Africa). ASLI had also organized a number of focused business and investment missions to these countries.
