DOCUMENTATION CONVENTIONS The eyeglass symbol ($) indicates a field on which you can browse. The star ( ) indicates the system default for a field. To allow for the widest possible parameters when printing a report or performing a function, accept the defaults for all of the parameter fields. To accept the defaults, either escape through all the fields, or press [Enter] without specifying any values. Generally, samples in the documentation are shown using the default values. Start and End parameters define the limits to a range of information you will print on a report. If information does not appear on a report, it may be because the information was excluded from the Start, End range. For a detailed explanation on how maintenance screens function, refer to the Tour Guide manual. Use the search tool in Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.01 to find which manual describes a specific module, job, or function. 8/25/99 Prophet 21 Acclaim Version 10 The Prophet 21 system and Prophet 21 Acclaim are registered trademarks, and Prophet 21 and ScratchPad are trademarks of Prophet 21. 2 USING THE SOFTWARE Clearly flag hazardous material on a bill of lading. The Bill of Lading for Hazardous MaterialSelect Software works in conjunction with the NOTEPAD to produce bills of lading that clearly label hazardous material. Bills of Lading are needed to confirm the delivery of hazardous material. IMPORTANT! You must have NOTEPAD enabled on your system if you want to use this Select Software. NOTEPAD A specific notepad class is used on all notes pertaining to hazardous material. The notes contain hazardous nomenclatures required by the Department of Transportation, and other information such as hazardous class, product group, description, and unlimited lines for text. These notes print on the bills of lading with the hazard note directly above the item code, and any other notes below the item code and description. 6
2 USING THE SOFTWARE BILL OF LADING FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIAL SETTING UP A "HAZARDOUS" ITEM Set up an item note for each item that is considered hazardous material. Set the note Class to 90, and be sure to choose Shipping papers as a DISPLAY AREA for the note. All items that have a Class 90 note attached to them are identified on the Bill of Lading as a hazardous item. The hazard note is printed directly above the item code, while all other notes print below it. An X prints in the column that is normally reserved for tax codes (tax codes do not print). A sample Bill of Lading is shown in the SHIP section. CLASS 91 NOTES You can set up another special class of items, Class 91. Class 91 notes function just as the hazard notes do; they print directly above the item code on shipping papers, while all other notes print below it. The only difference between a Class 90 and a Class 91 note is that Class 91 notes do not show the X in the tax code column. Suggested use: You might wish to use a Class 91 note for an item that is not hazardous, but still requires an MSDS. A good example of this is mineral spirits. 7
2 USING THE SOFTWARE BILL OF LADING FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIAL SHIP A Bill of Lading is a shipping paper that can be used to identify hazardous items. To indicate that an item is hazardous, an X prints in the column normally reserved for tax codes, and special notes regarding the hazardous material print on the shipping paper, immediately above each hazardous item code. 8
