Brendan has only recently commenced with LDO and in his role as he will oversee a wide variety of mining engineering projects from feasibility studies through to project implementation. Extensive experience in management of all facets of technical services including ventilation engineering, spontaneous combustion, gas drainage, geotechnical engineering and mine planning. Brendan has also worked in group technical services roles which have entailed various engineering and estimating project work for a variety of mine sites. He is familiar with an extensive variety of mining engineering related software including Ventsim / Ventsim Visual, Xpac, Minex and AutoCAD. Brendan is passionate about risk management and has extensive experience in the development and review of management systems. Career Achievements/Highlights Developed a Ventilation and Gas management related business unit within a large Australian consultancy firm. Involved with the management of a high production longwall mine with an underground inseam gas drainage system and modern ventilation arrangement. Involved with the scoping and design of a gas flaring project that will also include power generation. Involved with the design of a Ventilation Air Methane Regenerative Afterburner (VAMRAB) demonstration plant and the connection of this to an operating underground mine. Statutory Ventilation Officer at various underground coal mines including multi-seam underground coal mines. Design, approval and implementation of a pillar extraction mining system under the tidal waters of Lake Macquarie. Involved in an underground spontaneous combustion incident and subsequent staged mine recovery process. Worked as the statutory Shift Undermanager, supervising all underground personnel and operations. Managed a team of people in engineering and estimating for a major Australian contractor. Provided support and training to mine sites in ventilation engineering, short, medium and long term planning and mine budgeting. Achieved growth of a contractor business unit through tendering and being awarded new work.

Chris has approximately seven years experience in both the underground and open cut coal mining industry in New South Wales. Site Secondment LAKECOAL - CHAIN VALLEY COLLIERY Some of the primary works undertaken to date for the project have included: Project approvals; under Part 3A and Part 4, along with successful modification of project approval obtained; NGER reporting, at both facility and controlling corporation level; Development of environmental management system in line with ISO14001; Project management for major capital expenditure / environmental projects; Securing federal government funding under the coal sector jobs package; Establishing and operating a community consultative committee; Upgrading environmental monitoring equipment and developing monitoring programs to meet current environmental standards; Government consultation and reporting; Obtaining water licences and modifying the site Environment Protection Licence; and Managing contaminated site investigation programs. Site Secondment VALE AUSTRALIA INTEGRA COAL OPERATIONS Some of the primary works undertaken included: Day to day environmental management tasks, such as; monitoring, reporting, auditing, EMS development, rehabilitation planning and coordination, development and implementation of training packages; Contractor management, such as; work permits, plant introduction to site, tendering work, contract development and ongoing contractor management and review; and Training and development of environmental professionals, environmental due diligence, capital reforecasting, and SAP Environmental Compliance module development and training.
