Position Reports to Commercial Planning Manager Supply Planning Manager Company Synlait Milk Limited Date: March 2016 Location 1028 Heslerton Road, Dunsandel, Canterbury Purpose This is a key role to support the Manufacturing and Supply Chain team in fulfilling the customer promise of cost effective and timely supply of finished goods to meet customer demand. The role will achieve this through high quality planning, analysis, reporting and financial optimisation. Key Performance Areas Performance Expectations: Responsible for creating monthly strategic supply plan to support the Supply Review Meeting within the IBP function Update the 3 year Supply Plan based on the latest Demand Review on a monthly basis to support the IBP Supply Chain Review Provide feedback to the Supply and Demand Planning Managers on initial assessment of the capacity planning, to determine out of balance conditions, identifying alternatives and recommending actions to bring the plan back into balance. Prepare key KPI s for the Supply Chain Review. Ensure short term (1-4) month planning schedules are updated and aligned with latest sales and supply plans. Responsible for assisting the Supply Planning Manager with creating monthly strategic supply plan to deliver to the Integrated Reconciliation Review within the IBP function Assist the Supply Planning Manager in creating the comprehensive supply plan to deliver against the demand plan, including financial metrics, scenario analysis and other key performance measures. Key Performance Areas Performance Expectations: Responsible for maintaining up to date information to allow key decisions on a timely basis Development of Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process and technology to enable best in class reporting Liaise with the Demand Planner, Inventory Controller, Product Allocation Co-ordinator and Master Schedulers to ensure key change impacts to the short term plan are addressed and resolved effectively. Ensure significant changes requiring delegated authority are approved as required. Ensure the Integrated Tactical Planning Process is informed of short term plan changes. Operate and continually improve the existing planning tool. Lead a process to review leading IBP technologies and make recommendation for future direction. Support Financial Optimisation Assist in the establishment and implementation of financial optimisation tools across the tactical and operational plans. Provide guidance on milk supply in-take / off-take decisions and capacity planning guidance across the site (including Warehouse and Canning & Blending) Assist the Supply Planning Manager with reporting through to Manufacturing and Supply Chain meetings and other forums Support the IBP Manager along with Commercial Managers in creating the IBP plan for the annual budget process. Provide guidance in advance for peak milk volumes to ensure that any milk volume/supply issues are avoided or mitigated. As required, provide guidance as to the feasibility and preferred option with respect to buying/selling of raw milk. Provide in advance high level indications of plant capacity across the site so the team can react to potential capacity bottlenecks. Identify abnormal demand/supply conditions and assist the Sales team rebalancing demand with supply. Liaise with the Inventory Controller to ensure warehouse capacity constraints are factored into the Supply Plan. Deliver robust and well-presented reporting for IBP forums, Tactical forums, Sales forums and Corporate Finance. Provide scenario reporting through to IBP Manager and other senior executives as required. Ensure that the annual plan is driven from the agreed version of the tactical plan. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Qualifications: Minimum of a University Degree/s in Commerce, Sciences or Engineering or other relevant discipline from a world leading university. Membership of a professional body such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants is a prerequisite Skills & Experience: Ideally more than 7 years of experience in both financial and commercial positions and/or supply chain operations. Prior experience in leading a major systems implementation project Experience in delivering value added world class financial, management and operational reports.
