SKOCH National Award to Karnataka Watershed Project-II ( Sujala III) Karnataka watershed development project II (Sujala III), comprehensive, holistic, multidisciplinary World Bank aided Watershed project is being implemented by the Watershed Development Department, Government of Karnataka in eleven districts from 2013 to 2018. The project has evolved as a model in the field of watershed development due to its Innovative and Science based approaches to provide farm specific advisory for the farmers to double their farm income. The Sujala III is recognized by the SKOCH Group through its SKOCH ORDER-OF- MERIT National Award. The award has been presented by Mr. Sameer Kochhar, Chairman, SKOCH Group at Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) International Convention Center, Mumbai on 19 th -20 th June 2017. Mr. Rajiv Ranjan, Project Director and Commissioner, Dr. Surya Deo Pathak, Executive Director, Watershed Development Department, have received the Award on behalf of Watershed Development Department, Government of Karnataka.

Awards Received by the Sujala Watershed Project - I 1. National Productivity Award to Katnur Micro-watershed of Dharwad How Katnur secured National Productive Award 2005 06 - A Case study of Katnur MWS in Dharwad District Sujala implemented in Katnur village differently or the village communities make use of Sujala project differently!. Apart from regular activities of Sujala Farming System Demonstration with focused IPPM (Integrated Production and Protection Management) was implemented in this village. The following activities have transformed the entire Microwatershed and changed from low productivity to sustainable productivity Environmental impact assessment Awareness on ill effects of chemical fertilizers on life forms, Food chain, Balanced diet, fisheries and apiculture and cotton eco system analysis Soil test (Water holding test for soil) IPMADS NGO staff and community tripartite interaction and counseling Demonstration and adoption of seed germination test, Trichocard, vermi compost, Preserving beneficial insects and controlling enemy insects, Bio-fertilizer preparation, etc. National Productivity Award to Katnur Micro-watershed of Dharwad with a cash award of Rs.1,00,000. Award was received by the Project Director, Sri Sandeep Dave IAS, and District Watershed Development Officer, Sri Biradar. National Productivity Award 2005-06

2. National Water Congress Award was received to Uttanur Subwatershed, Mulabagal Taluk, Kolar District during the year 2006-07. Sujala Watershed Project has won the National Water Congress Award innovative practices for ground water augmentation through rainwater harvesting and artificial recharge to Ground Water. The project desigh and approach was unique and largely innovative with Government, NGO and Community involvement. The project was implemented through the mobilization and capacity building of the local community into watershed Sangha. The overall administrative and financial control rested with the Executive Committee of 14 members elected from the sangha members with greater representation of women, landless and vulnerable groups. The vulnerable groups especially the women were grouped into Self Help Groups(SHG) and the landed class into Area Groups for capacitation and empowerment. The Award was received by the President, Sri. Srinivas of the Uttanur, Grama Panchayath, Mulbagal taluk National Water Congress Award 2007

3. Earth Care Award Sujala Watershed Project has won the Earth Care Award for community-led action on mitigating and adaptation to climate change with respect to water resources and land use, land use change and forestry. The Award was constituted by the Times of India and Jindal Steel Works Foundation. The Award has also recognized the effort of Communities, NGOs and Government working in partnership for environment preservation in the drought prone districts of Karnataka. The award has been received by the Project Director, Sri. Sandeep Dave, IAS from the Honorable Union Minister for Tourism Ms. Ambika Soni on 22 nd April 2008. Earth care Award 2008

4. e-governance Award for Innovative Use of Technology in e- Governance in the following filed 1. Technologically feasible delineation and prioritization of sub and micro watersheds 2. Adoption of MIS system in all the sub and micro watersheds 3. Reached 100 percent watershed target group through SATCOM 4. Design, developed and deployed MIS and other specific packages (Sukriya and Sukriya Nakshe) in all watersheds. 5. Extensive handholding and capacitation carried out with respect to ICT 6. Developed self reliant ICT personnel at the grass root level who can be used for any project 7. Realistic assessment of impacts at micro and sub watershed level is carried out with extensive use of RS and GIS. 8. Use of MIS/PFMS for facilitating Performance Based Payment System (PBPS) The Award was received by the Additional Project Director (Forest), Smt. Madhu Sharma, Project Director ANTRIX, Sri B K Ranganath and Additional Project Director ANTRIX, Sri Diwakar. National e-governance Award 2009

5. National Productivity Award to Madderi Mallandalli MC Kolar District Sujala Watershed Project has gagged fifth National Award i.e., National Productivity Award 2006-07 for increasing the productive potential of dry land sponsored by National Productivity Council, Government of India and Sujala Project received first place. The Award was received by the Project Director Sri K.R.GoplalaKrishna IAS, Additional Project Director(Co-ordination) Sri Rajiv Ranjan IFS, Agriculture officer and the President of Madderi Mallandalli Sujala Watershed Sangha.
