JOB PURPOSE o lead, manage and provide a highly effective support service for all students ensuring that that the day-to-day delivery of the service is underpinned by a constant focus on high quality outcomes. he role would be overseeing a central multi-disciplinary team that would include, counselling, mental health, financial support, welfare, safeguarding, careers, tutorial, enrichment and the Learner Voice which includes the Student Union. MIN DUIES & RESPONSIBILIIES o deliver in liaison with other College managers an effective and comprehensive set of inclusive services to support students across the College at pre entry, induction, on programme and pre exit stages of the student experience in ways that contribute to high levels of attendance, retention and achievement. o act as the operational designated person for safeguarding and child protection. o manage the Bursary Funds in accordance with funding body guidance and audit requirements. o manage the quality of the cross college tutorial programme to ensure resources are current and delivery is consistent across all of the provision. o develop an impartial careers information, advice and guidance service to ensure students take ownership of and manage their progression and / or employment prospects. o lead, manage and provide a highly effective advice, welfare and guidance service across the College that meets both current and future needs of our students. o identify and support looked after children and those leaving care that have enrolled with the College and liaise with relevant agencies. o coordinate and manage Safeguarding processes to include liaison with other relevant agencies where appropriate. o promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and vulnerable adults amongst staff and students, to include induction and training. o lead and manage the planning, preparation and implementation of the Student Engagement Strategy to include all aspects of enrichment, the Student Union, student feedback and social action. Identify and lead the welfare and pastoral, counselling and mental health needs of students through personal and comprehensive assessment of students at the point of application or referral to the service and plan to implement support through deployment of staff and /or appropriate resources. o promote and facilitate awareness of all the support services throughout the College. Monitor and evaluate all the activities of the service using agreed quality procedures including the student voice and initiate strategies to consistently improve quality and the student learning experience to ensure student s needs are fully met.
o provide reports on the access, usage and impact of all the services. o contribute to the development of policies, procedures and practice and to regularly review policies and procedures so that the College complies with legislative and audit requirements. o organise and lead the area s participation in Open Evenings, Parents' Evenings, student interviews and enrolment. o ensure information on the college VLE, SharePoint and college website is up to date accurate and accessible. ttend external network meetings and ensure that there is a strong representation of all Student Support staff at College events. GENERL DUIES o provide leadership in the area of responsibility and ensure effective team working and high levels of professional conduct and the effective use of resources. o contribute to the development and review of strategy and related policies for the post holder s areas of responsibility, implementing these as appropriate. Ensure that relevant statutory provisions relating to health and safety, EHCP applications, safeguarding and equality and diversity are implemented, monitored and regularly reviewed so that legal requirements are met. o embed effective quality assurance and quality improvement arrangements in the area of responsibility and constantly seek to identify and adopt best practice approaches. o create and sustain effective relationships with internal and external customers and other stakeholders and partners. o participate in the College s staff appraisal/performance management scheme and professional development arrangements and ensure that these are effectively implemented for all staff within the service. o promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and vulnerable adults amongst staff and students within the area of responsibility. o undertake all duties and responsibilities in accordance with College policies inclusive of Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Child and Vulnerable dult protection, Quality and Financial regulations and to report any concerns to the appropriate person. o participate actively in the performance management scheme, agreeing objectives, attending reviews and undertaking Staff Development as required o work safely, consider the safety of others and work within the guidelines stated in the College Health and Safety Policy. o work flexibly, this will include evenings and possibly weekends. o undertake any other duties commensurate with your level of responsibility as may be required by the College Leadership eam.
