5 Progress of Implementation of Other Recommendations Recommendation Deadline Progress (as of October, 2016) Finalizing the guidelines for defining roles and responsibilities of CPGs and submission to MoEF Extending poultry value chain improvement program to all 200 villages Aug 31, 2016 Dec 31, 2016 CPG Guidelines have been drafted and shared with BFD as input to the Protected Area Rules (PA Rules), Forest Policy and Forestry Master Plan under preparation. The poultry value chain improvement program has been extended to 184 villages by developing 133 local Livestock Service Providers (LSP) and linking them with DLS and private feed, veterinary medicine companies. Nine market sheds have been established. Completion of beef- and milch cow value chain piloting activities in 10 villages Ditto Beef- and milch cow value chain improvement program has been established in 36 villages (144 demo farms, feed and veterinary medicine supply system with embedded advisory services are in place)
6 Progress of Implementation of Other Recommendations Recommendation Deadline Progress (as of October, 2016) Promotion of use of MRSLF for income generation for Federations organizational activities and income/ benefits for the groups and communities at large Dec 31, 2016 Group AIGAs have been undertaken by 18 (out of 21) CPGs. 16 CPGs and 276 FDG members have invested in rural transport (rickshaw van, auto rickshaw) services that are benefiting the respective communities at large. Making an assessment of losses and damages caused by Cyclone Roanu Conduction of a final study on the impacts of alternative livelihood support activities in enhancing resilience of the communities and reducing forest degradation in the project areas _ Dec 31, 2016 Assessment made and a report submitted to the World Bank in August 2016 Survey done in October 2016; data analysis just completed; key findings shall be presented to the WB Support Mission, November 7-12, 2016.

8 MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS The 55 Federations of 200 FDGs grew further in financial and organizational strengths RLF of the 55 now (Sep 30, 2016) totals around BDT 75.5 million (BDT 13.2M from savings scheme, BDT 60.0M project grant and 4.3 M from interest income) 71% of the FDG Federations are now Strong and 29% are Moderate in institutional strengths while 100% were Weak until December out of the 55 Union FDG Federations (96%) are now registered 1,751 (29%) FDG members are included in SF program
9 Increased momentum of AIGA Program 92% FDG members received RLF loans once and 29% twice in last two years. The loan size ranged from BDT 5,000-25,000, given for a maximum of % interest rate/service charge. 10 Technical Knowledge and Skills Enhanced, Production and Income Diversified 100% of the 6,000 FDG members trained in AIGA skills (improved vegetable cultivation, poultry rearing, beef/dairy cow rearing, agroforestry) through 16,278 man-days training 16 types of improved/climate resilient farming technologies demonstrated in 1557 households 6.5 tons of improved vegetables seeds (16 spp.), 119,000 grafted saplings of quick-growing fruit trees (14 spp.), 88,000 saplings of timber trees (11 spp.) and 21,000 chicken/duck distributed among the FDG members Crop diversity, production and seasonal distribution of vegetables and fruits in homesteads of FDG members have improved significantly (resulting in improved family nutrition, cash income and economic resilience)

14 Backyard Poultry Value Chain Development Working in 144 villages, developed 108 Livestock Service Providers (LSP) In October 16, 39,255 households received services from 108 LSPs; the LSPs provided training to 6400 women. Established MOU with a vet-med and a feed company to establish & strengthen business-to-business (B2B) linkages with LSPs. Average monthly income of LSPs is BDT 5,500 (3,500-22,000) 12 Business centers have been established to strengthen backward and forward linkages. Each center is supported with a weighing scale. Poultry mortality is reduced by 40%, hatching rate increased by 20-30%, egg production increased 3 times and growth rate increased by 50%. Model farmers average monthly income from poultry stood at BDT 3,500 in 3 months after starting the business.
15 Beef and Dairy Value Chain Development Working in 36 villages, covering primarily 4,320 households. Completed 2 batches (32) lead farmers motivation tour, remaining 6 batch would be done by Nov 16 (2 beef & 2 dairy per village). 112 demonstrations on improved cattle husbandry practices (feeding ready feed & green grass, use of two mangers system, vaccination, deworming) established in 36 villages (by LSPs). LSPs are working as input suppliers (Ready feed, HYV green grass, Mangers, medicine & vaccines) and services providers (vaccinations, deworming, treatment services), also providing backstopping support to farmers. Lead farmers received BDT 12,000 for 4 month period to purchase ready feed & green grass from LSPs.
16 Pond Fish Value Chain Development Working in 18 villages, covering primarily 2160 pond fish farmers Developed 10 inputs suppliers cum service providers, with the support of Nourish and Fisheries department Service providers provided training to 360 pond fish farmers, training of the remaining 1800 farmers shall be completed by Dec 16. Three demonstrations on improved practices of pond fish cultivation have been carried out; 15 more will be established by Dec 16 The average weight per fish in the demo ponds in 4.5 months is 920 g, which is double of control farmers
17 Handicrafts Value Chain Development Pebble Child toys: 500 women in 5 villages received training from Hatey Bunano, 50% are now producing the toys under subcontracting system with Pebble child. Wage per toy is BDT 30 and that needs 2-3 hours to produce (for new producers). The products is exported in Europe and America by Pebble Child Shital pati: 240 producers in 4 villages involved. AF mobilized bulk byer for them. They producers diversified products as per the demand of the buyers and they started group selling. Quality and price of the products are gradually increasing. Presently the average monthly income of a producer is BDT 798 per month.
18 Promotion of Improved Cooking Stoves (ICS) All of the 6,000 targeted beneficiary households have adopted ICS Fuel wood consumption reduced by almost 50% Incidence of respiratory diseases of women and children reduced due to smoke-free kitchen
