C O M V I T A K I W I B E E New Zealand s most trusted apiary, and partner of choice. S I X B R A NCHE S NO R T H I S LA ND With 140+ staff, the Kiwi Bee team are focused on producing the best quality honey, maximising yield and multiple crop opportunities. M O R E T HA N 2, LA ND O W N ER S Kiwi Bee partners with landowners of all sizes, ensuring returns are shared and maximized for both parties. 3 F I E L D A Y S - NATIONAL We assess your property to place hives to maximise returns for both parties. RE Q U I RE M E N T S The property has the potential for securing UMF10+ Manuka or better. The property has existing Manuka canopy capable of supporting 50hives. The property has land available that would be suitable for establishing a new Manuka plantation with a minimum size of 50 hectares.
B E E S The increasing value of Manuka honey is the driving force behindthe increasing number of hives innz. In the year 2000: 300,000 registered beehives Last year (2016): 700,000 registered beehives
H I V E C A P A C I T Y Pasture Pollination 20 hives per apiary site, 2-3kms apart Overstocking will have an impact on the native bees and invertebrate life that relies on nectar as a food source Especially in a poor nectar flow season Manuka Honey hive capacity One beehive per hectare of wild manuka coverage Two beehives per hectare of plantation manuka
B E N E F I T S Resident bees can provide clover pollination (minimise superphosphate use) An additional income stream for your farm (honey) CIBR clinical trials utilising manuka antimicrobial properties: (Scion, Landcare, Cawthron Lincoln) Manuka reduces nitrate leaching - riparian planting Reduces E.coli leaching Salmonella pathogen 4 days manuka, 8 days for rye pasture
H I V E A S S E S S M E N T We assess your property to place hives to maximise returns for both parties. T OP OG R AP H Y The location is suitable for bees and has suitable access. A CCE S S A B I LI T Y Suitable, regular access to hive sites. M A NU K A D E N S I T Y Sufficient Manuka canopy to achieve a commercial honey crop. HI V E S I T E S Clear areas suitable for hive placement. Pollen and Nectar sources all year round, with additional planting where needed. HE A LT H & S A F ETY Compliance with NZ legislation and the wellbeing of our staff.

A p i a r y M a n a g e m e n t S y s t e m ( A M S ) AMS ensures: Every hive location is recorded and tracked using GPS. All beekeeping equipment istracked. Hive strength is monitored closely and recorded to maximise the honey crop. Data is regularly analysed and actions implemented, when required. Complete transparency of honey quantity and quality throughout the hive management process, for both Kiwi Bee and the Landowner.
AMS Database From the land to the drum traceability Prepare and GPS Hive placement, Apiary site Scan the hive and honey boxes and record the date each item was placed on the hive and removed Honey boxes scanned, harvested and sent to the processing plant Honey boxes decontaminted Honey boxes are weighed and scanned, Honey extracted and sample sent to the lab DHA, MGO, HMF, UMF, PreUMF, Armitraz, Moisture, Tutin, Yeasts, moulds, colour The season results are given to the landowner along with the seasons payment Beekeepers will have to keep records of honey boxes MPI new draft regulations require these records to be available
