3 Farmers work hard. They grow many different kinds of crops. MINI BOOK On the Farm Which of these tastes best to you?

4 A farm is a place where farmers raise crops or animals for food. Female chickens are called hens. Males are called roosters. 2 7

5 Baby pigs are called piglets. Piglets get milk from their mother. Tractors make it easier for farmers to raise crops. There are many different kinds of tractors. 6 3

6 Some farm animals have jobs. Others will be sold. Cows live on farms. Most cows are milked every day. 4 5

7 Where s the Crop? Plant tops grow above the ground. Plant bottoms grow below the ground. The part of the plant we eat is called the crop. Look at the corn plant Color its crop yellow. Look at the turnip Color its crop purple. How are the plants the same? How are they different? 7
