2 Sarasota County: AG Lands Distribution & Extent Sarasota Food Policy Council History Formed in the 2005 spring as non-official, advisory committee to Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC); facilitated by Sarasota County Extension & Office of Sustainability Purpose is to support the activities of the BOCC in rewriting of the county s Comprehensive Plan by developing policy recommendations for agriculture based on concepts of sustainability. An inclusive group representing the diverse community of Sarasota County, e.g., Agriculture producers and industries Health department, professionals & non-profits Environmental and social advocacy groups Elected officials: county, state & national School district and education professionals Engaged and concerned individuals Sarasota Community & Government Sustainability History Florida House Construction (1992) Env.
