HighContentAnalysis.com Strategic Resource Management & Portfolio Management October 31 - November 4, 2016 Philadelphia, PA Although investment in pharma R&D continues to increase, approval of new drugs remains relatively low. This productivity crisis presents new challenges to biopharma R&D in terms of resource management, forecasting, and capacity planning. To counteract the decline in new therapeutics and high risk of product failure, biopharma must adapt with improved performance planning, intelligent outsourcing, and new big data analytics aimed at developing strategic and flexible resource management systems. In an environment of declining revenues and uncertain commercial success, biopharma, device and R&D companies need to continuously evaluate their portfolios. Manufacturers must make tough decisions about which products and projects to pursue to optimize long-term revenue and reduce overall risk. Cambridge Healthtech Institute s and the BioPharma Strategy Series 13th Annual Strategic Resource Management and 10th Annual Portfolio Management Executive Forum attracts 100+ senior R&D executives from the pharma, biotech, device, IT, public and governmental communities who share best practices in project and portfolio management, R&D innovation, decision analysis, forecasting and the improvement of operational models. ExecutiveDecisionMaking.com World Preclinical Congress Europe November 14-16, 2016 Lisbon, Portugal The World Preclinical Congress Europe is a key networking event bringing together a global audience involved in preclinical research. With the broad range of conference s covered, the event offers a diverse cross-disciplinary environment for tackling translational challenges and sharing best practices. It s where preclinical minds meet discovery technologies to innovate traditional drug discovery by sharing ideas, showcasing new technologies, and fostering new collaborations. WorldPreclinicalEurope.com Advances in Prenatal Molecular Diagnostics November 29 - December 1, 2016 Cambridge, MA The growing acceptance and availability of cell-free DNA-based screening from maternal blood is having a dramatic impact on prenatal testing. One result has been the steady decline in the number of women choosing invasive testing, with growing shift away from karyotyping in favor of arrays, or in some cases sequencing, for analysis of these samples. The range of approaches being employed for cellfree DNA testing continues to grow, including the release of kits for in-house analysis and so-called second generation assays that provide much improved detection of sub-chromosomal anomalies. There has been a push to expand NIPT use beyond higher-risk pregnancies, as well as extending the range of genetic conditions reported from the tests, but such changes come at a price. Research into testing based on isolation of fetal cells from maternal blood has been underway for decades, and the discussion has been couched in terms of if this approach can be commercialized. At this meeting last year, for the first time, the conversation shifted to when this approach is commercialized as numerous groups reported substantial progress in achieving reliable isolation that would make this possible. Updated comparisons and examination of these issues, and the implementation of these different approaches, will again make for lively discussion and insight into where this field is headed and ways for researchers, test providers, clinicians and clinics to take these developments into consideration. Healthtech.com/Prenatal-Diagnostics Reproductive Genetic Diagnostics December 1-2, 2016 Cambridge, MA Couples experiencing infertility or failed pregnancy can now take advantage of a number of molecular diagnostic options to determine the health and wellness of their embryos as well as their own fertility. Cambridge Healthtech Institute s Second Annual Reproductive Genetic Diagnostics conference examines the latest in preimplantation diagnostic and screening technologies, including their applications in assessing mtdna load; determining aneuploidy through single-gene disorders; and assessing mosaicism. The meeting will also examine the potential for non-invasive PGD by blastocentesis, being developed in response to the potential effect biopsy and vitrification may have on the development of the embryo. There will be discussion on PGD for donor eggs, such as how much or how often testing should be done. The meeting will also cover advances in CRISPR, including current research and capabilities, as well as how this technology may or may not be used in the future. New this year, special attention will be paid to molecular diagnostics for finding infertility biomarkers in sperm and the uterus. Healthtech.com/Reproductive-Genetic-Diagnostics Biological & Chemical Sensors Summit December 5-7, 2016 La Jolla, CA Emerging technological innovations enabled by next generation sensors will define the landscape for the future commercialization of life changing products.
