1 «Tit» «Name» «Fam_Nam» «Organization» «Address» «Address_» «PO_Box» «City». «Country» Proficiency Test - Laboratory Code: «Lab_code» Sevilla, November, Dear participants, Enclosed you will find the report of the Proficiency Test - on Drugs of Abuse in Hair, organized by the Society of Hair Testing. Each of the participating laboratories received an identifying code. Your particular code is «Lab_code». Sets of three samples were sent to thirty eight participating laboratories. Thirty two of them sent the report forms back. Sample contents were as follows: Sample A was a drug-free hair sample. Sample B was a drug-addict hair sample positive for opiates (6-MAM, morphine and codeine), cocainics (cocaine and BE), which also contained methadone, dihydrocodeine, tramadol, diazepam, nordiazepam and traces of cannabis and amphetamine compounds. Sample C was a drug-addict hair sample positive for opiates (6-MAM, morphine and codeine), cocainics (cocaine and BE), cocainics (cocaine and BE), amphetamines (amphetamine, methamphetamine, MDMA and traces of MDA) and cannabis (THC, CBD, CBN and THC-COOH), which also contained methadone and tramadol. This year a more comprehensive statistical study has been performed to evaluate quantitative results. has been calculated based on robust estimators (median instead of mean and interquartile instead of standard deviation).
2 has been calculated as follows: = (x - χ) / IQR Where: x: Concentration reported by the participant χ: Median concentration obtained from the participating laboratories IQR: Interquartile range: It is calculated as: Q-Q (the upper quartile minus the lower quartile) Q: Third quartile (percentile 75) Q: First quartile (percentile 5) Decision criteria The following criteria have been adopted: Satisfactory results: ± Questionable results: < Unsatisfactory results: Certificate A certificate has been mailed to all the participants. Yours faithfully, Carmen Jurado
