4 What is a Project? According to the PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) 3rd edition, A project is defined as a temporary endeavor with a beginning and an end and it must be used to create a unique product, service or result.
5 What is a Project? Lets assume here is Mariyam.
6 What is a Project? Assume she is automobile designer and came up with new design of a car.
7 What is a Project? Her team collaborate and come up with a plan.

12 Initialization In short in this stage you determine what to do in this project.
13 Initialization How do we know initialization stage is complete. The deliverable at initialization stage is Project Charter & this is produced by project manager.
14 Initialization Project charter is the bible to be used throughout the project.
15 Initialization Also while specifying clear goals and scope of the project; it will be mention how currently we do things right now and in future how we will do things.
16 Initialization Also in the project charter it will be mention who are the key player which person will play which role & responsibility that comes with that role & how controls will be implemented.
17 Initialization As mention earlier this document is referred throughout the project and this become the reference material and also this document represent the commitment from everybody.
18 Planning Stage This is the most time consuming stage.
19 Planning Stage How do we know planning stage is finished. We will have a document called project plan on our table, produced by project manager.
20 Planning Stage Following are the things that will list in project plan document.
21 Planning Stage So the project manager will do following things as well.
22 Executing Stage This is the most busy and costly stage in a project.
23 Executing Stage In this stage project team members carryout actions that is define in project plan.
24 Executing Stage In this stage the role of project manager is communication & coordination. He need to make sure that all information is communicated to all team members.
25 Executing Stage Since executing stage mark the most hectic stage; it is usually start with kick of meeting. In this meeting project manager ensure that everyone know what is suppose to do.
26 Controlling Stage Since it is not perfect world making a project plan and executing is not enough. You need to make sure everyone work according to your plan.
27 Controlling Stage The deliverable of controlling stage is project status report, produced by project manager.
28 Controlling Stage Project status report include following things:
29 Controlling Stage Periodic meeting will be heads by project manager. Take update from team members and communicate that to stakeholders.
30 Closing Stage Objective of this stage is:
31 Closing Stage This deliverable will be sign off by client and it proof that client is happy with the work done.
32 Closing Stage Once you received sign off from client usually you will be having exit meeting to get feedback.
33 Why Manage a Project? Here is statistics: 1 out 4 project enter into the market, 31% of IT project cancel before completion & 42% large organization is able to complete project.
