2 SP & PC Midlands based Superior Paint and Powder coating have recently completed the first two major phases as part of a 1m investment program. A significant part of this investment included the latest generation automated powder coating booth supplied by market leaders Gema. Superior Paint and Powder Coatings offers a complete polyester powder coating service providing exceptional high quality paint finishes to architectural aluminium extrusions, aluminium panels, aluminium cladding, bespoke pressings, stock aluminium extrusions and rainwater goods. 2

3 Investing in the future Managing director, Bill Singh, pictured right explained As our business has evolved we have made incremental investments to stay ahead of the curve in relation to the powder application equipment and technologies. In 2008 we invested in the OptiFlex1 hand gun technology which delivered significant performance improvements over our previous technology. Having understood the benefits available from the OptiFlex1 range we made a further investment in 2011, retrofitting our automatic booth with the eight OptiFlex automatic guns. With the release of the new OptiFlex2 gun generation we took a view to upgrading our technology and capturing the benefits on offer through the new product innovations as well as incorporating a fast colour change solution. Bill continued I along with the management team at SPPC worked closely with Leon Hogg to understand the benefits available and work on a return on investment for a complete Magic fast colour change booth. We had several specific needs and requirements, one of which included integration of the booth within existing facility with minimal disruption to our production operations, this involved removal of the existing plant and installation of the new equipment within a week, start to finish. 3

4 The procurement process Leon Hogg, Head of Sales for Gema UK explained Bill was clear about the vision for SPPC business and set out their future plans, with an emphasis on quality, plant automation, increased capacity and operational efficiency, with this in mind the new Magic Booth system offered the perfect solution. The new Magic Compact EquiFlow³ system was the first of its type in the UK, and benefits from many innovations released in 2014, particularly the new GA03 guns which operate on the same powder charging platform as the OptiFlex2 technology. Because of the diverse product geometries, part complexity and wide range of colours the system specified had to be extremely flexible, and at the same time deliver first class coating standards efficiently. In conjunction with the Magic EquiFlow booth we have supplied our latest generation OptiCenter, this takes application efficiency and colour change technology on to a whole new level, the system produces virtually zero waste and operates within a totally enclosed environment with no powder loss throughout the fluidisation process. 4
