3 GET STARTED How to choose your storage building When choosing your new shed or garage, there are two main questions to consider. How will you be using your shed? Where will you be placing your shed? These two questions will help you determine the size and features for your new storage building. Storage Style Deluxe Ranch High Barn Low Barn A small backyard would likely involve a smaller shed, and you may need to request our on-site building option if a fully built shed cannot be delivered to your property. If you are looking to store ATVs, boats, lawn mowers, or other vehicles, then you will be looking at larger storage building options As you look through this catalog, you can choose the style and features that appeal to you since each shed and garage is offered in a variety of sizes. You will also be able to choose from a wide array of colors (page 32 and 33) and upgrade features (page 34 and 35) to customize your perfect shed. The financial aspect of investing in a new shed also has to make sense, which is why we offer a few different payment options. We will work with you to figure out which option will work best for you so that you can begin enjoying the convenience of having a well-built shed Buy outright This option involves a down payment with the remaining balance due upon delivery. Buying outright allows you to have full ownership of the shed without any further contingencies. A deposit of 25% is required with the order. Balance is due upon delivery. Rent to own This finance option allows you to set up monthly payments with a buyout at the end of the agreed upon period. Another benefit is that this payment option does not require a credit check (not available in Minnesota). 3 Month To Month Minnesota Rentals If your monthly budget is tight, you re living situation is temporary, or you simply need a short-term storage solution, renting a shed might be the best option for you. Renting offers an easy and convenient solution to your temporary storage problem. And you don t have to worry about your credit a credit check is not required! Available only in Minnesota. Financing This purchasing option is comprised of monthly payments until the cost of the shed is paid in full. The benefit is that you are able to enjoy the benefits of having a shed right now with very affordable and fixed monthly payments. 21 SITE PREPARATION AND DELIVERY 1Build Frame Begin your new shed foundation by constructing a temporary frame to contain the base material for your new shed site. We suggest using 2" x 4" lumber to build a three-sided frame as pictured below. Fasten the frame to the stakes from the outside to ensure easy removal of the frame after it is filled with the base material. 2 Fill with Base Material To ensure the new foundation will be perfectly square, be sure to level all sides and measure the frame across the corners before filling with base material. We recommend using class 5 (road gravel) or granite fines as your base material for a long lasting foundation for your new shed. 3 After securing the proper building permit, the next step is to build a solid foundation for your new shed or garage. Level Base with Screet Board Slide a straight board back and forth over the top of the temporary frame to level the base material within the frame. NOTE: If the frame has not been properly leveled, this step can not be completed accurately. 4 If you plan to hire someone to build your foundation, you may want to share these instructions with them to insure the site is properly prepared and leveled. We cannot stress enough how important it is for your site to be perfectly level. An unlevel foundation will cause the frame of the shed to twist, and make opening of doors and windows difficult. Compact Base Material While this step is not essential to creating a solid foundation, using a compacter to finish your new foundation will make delivery easier and minimize the settling of the shed over time. Remove temporary frame after compacting base material. Delivery is free within 100 miles of our shop or 20 miles from our display areas. Beyond that there is a $4 per mile one-way charge. Normal wear and tear, fading of exterior surfaces, and general aging, which is common of any outdoor product that is exposed to natural elements, is not covered under warranty. 24 ONSITE CONSTRUCTION All of the Dakota Storage buildings can be built on-site rather than delivering a fullsize shed or garage to your property. When you choose the on-site building option, all specifications of the building stay the same. We prefabricate the building in our factory and then transport the sections to complete* the project on your property. Two Main Reasons for On-Site Building Property Limitations Many properties have layouts that do not allow for the delivery of a pre-built storage building. You may have a spacious backyard with a narrow side yard, or you may want your new shed placed in a certain corner of your property that is not easily accessible. Cement Foundation The other big reason for choosing the on-site building option is if you want a cement foundation for your new storage building. Cement flooring can be preferable to wood flooring if you are planning on storing and working on vehicles in your new garage. You will need to have your cement foundation in place before delivery so that our team can incorporate your existing base into the assembly of the rest of your new shed or garage.
