3 The advanced conservatory roof system s one of the UK s largest suppliers of advanced, fully sculptured conservatory solutions, K2 products are installed in approximately 300,000 UK homes. K2 products also meet BSI standards (BS EN ISO 14001:2004, ISO 9001:2008) and are BB (British Board of grément) accredited (01/3795). In order to achieve this BB status (which is widely recognised throughout the construction industry as the ultimate quality benchmark), both K2 products and business operations had to undergo rigorous independent assessments by a government backed body. BB certification gives the roof systems a life expectancy of at least 25 years. ll of this, combined with a highly skilled team and an extensive product range incorporating a proven aluminium roof system and high performance Celsius glass, means that the K2 system can provide everything required to create conservatories, garden rooms, gazebos and summerhouses, as well as orangeries. 4 K2 roof design features Jack rafter K2 s jack rafter system incorporates a strong, mechanical, fail-safe fixing. The jack rafter undercladding is machined to suit the hip, in order to maximise aesthetics and maintain decorative site lines. ball joint connection fully accommodates angular variation between hip and jack rafter and provides total design freedom. The user-friendly design improves both fabrication and installation times. Fewer components = less stockholding and less problems for both fabricators and installers. Eaves beam connector The eaves beam connector is designed to provide a strong structural connection. ble to accommodate any angle, it offers pre-set positions for inline coupling and angles of 90, 135 and 150.

5 Glass paddle K2 s unique pivoting glass paddle prevents slippage of glazing into the valley. Elegant tie bar Tie bars or wires are used to stop lateral movement of the conservatory; they are essential to the structural integrity and stability of conservatories above a certain size. K2 supply both 3 and 5 way tie bars, and a tie wire option. End caps The K2 end cap is highly distinctive, featuring an embossed logo for both the aluminium and PVC-U finishes. Self-supporting box gutter with internal brace To remove the need for gallows brackets, and reduce installation time and cost. 14 different types of box gutter adaptors are available, offering the ability to neatly overcome the most challenging applications. Box gutters are available in 2 widths; 135mm and 210mm, to allow for greater flexibility on site. The 210mm wide design can also accommodate two conservatories side by side with a single box gutter. 6 Thermal bridging The aluminium top cap is thermally isolated from its aluminium core in order to provide maximum protection against temperature fluctuation. High quality aluminium castings The K2 aluminium roof can be dressed with an eye-catching ball finial and/or decorative cresting (for the more traditional look) to fit in with the individual house style. For a contemporary look a no cresting option is best, and some installations suit removal of the finial. Range of gutter options For the perfect finish, an aluminium gutter can be specified to complement the aluminium roof. lso powder coated to match, it will be bespoke to each conservatory installation to provide a unique and exclusive appearance. 7 Variable ridge and fixed ridge The K2 roof offers a full range of ridge options, to suit all requirements. This includes the variable ridge, which allows the roof pitch to be adjusted from 17.5 to Decorative eaves trims vailable as standard in White, Cherrywood, Mahogany and Golden Oak finishes and a range of decorative designs, these trims add a finishing touch that can really personalise a conservatory. Victorian One of the most popular conservatory styles, available with 3 or 5 facet bays. Georgian/Edwardian Characterised by its square footprint, this style is a very space efficient design that suits contemporary properties. P-shaped Generally designed as a combination of a Victorian and a lean-to roof, the P-shape provides extended usable living space. Gable Distinguishable by its elevated front, the gable design provides a very spacious conservatory, with its high ceiling.

10 Wide-span designs incorporating bi-fold doors Contemporary bi-fold doors can open up virtually the whole side of a conservatory to provide added space and flexible access to adjacent gardens. Energy efficient and easy to maintain once installed, Evolve bi-fold doors are fully-manufactured by Synseal using a choice of either Shield or Legend ovolo PVC-U profiles. Precision engineered to the highest standards and available in a variety of finishes, Evolve bi-fold PVC-U door sashes slide along a thermally-broken aluminium top and bottom track system, designed to ensure years of trouble-free service. Rigid aluminium tracks increase the structural strength and enable easy transportation, preventing excessive flex to ensure that the doors run smoothly, even on long spans with multiple leaf configurations. Evolve bi-fold doors are glazed with 28mm DG units as standard (4:20:4 pane configuration with rgon gas filling and aluminium spacer bar) and deliver a U-value of 1.7W/m 2 K. Bi-fold door support foam, applied between the bolster and the top of the bi-fold door outer frame, provides thermal insulation.

11 Portal frames & architectural services The K2 roof system can be specified in conjunction with the SkySpace aluminium portal system to create super sized conservatories and architectural wide-span glazed structures. Portal frame aluminium profiles bolt together and include purlins and welded angled trusses, as required. Bespoke solutions are test assembled on the factory floor to check precision of manufacture, prior to despatch. This approach suits projects sized from 30 to 2000m 2 and unsupported clear spans of up to 35m can be achieved. luminium portal frames are an ideal specification for swimming pool enclosures, as they are able to easily cope with exposure to chlorine and constantly high humidity levels. For each architectural project enquiry, CD drawings are prepared together with itemised quotations. 13 Coloured roofs to suit each project The K2 roof can be supplied in traditional woodgrain or painted effect foils in a range of popular colours as standard, with a White internal finish if preferred. These colour finishes are available for both PVC-U and aluminium external top cap options. For the aluminium roof the colour finish can either be foiled or powder coated if a precise RL colour reference is specified. 14 Glazing options Sealed IGU products, custom-made to specification The need to control solar glare in Summer and minimise heat loss in winter calls for the selection of high performance toughened and annealed roof glass. 24mm double glazing is a typical roof glass specification, comprised of either 4:16:4 or 4:14:6 units, as the weight of these units is easily handled by the roof structure. range of roof glass solutions is available from Global Glass, including solar control, low maintenance, Low E and gas filled options. Double glazed units with spacer bar options Solar control glass Solar coated glass is commonly used on conservatory roofs to help prevent the build-up of heat during the hot summer months. The coating on the glass helps reflect heat from the sun back to the outside atmosphere, giving a more comfortable and useable living space. The glass is available in a range of tints which allows the glass to absorb more heat, whilst the coating reflects heat back to the outside. Low E glass Low E glass has a microscopic metal coating which reflects heat back into the room. DG units incorporating this specially coated glass offer up to 33% more insulation than conventional insulated glass units. Polycarbonate Low maintenance glass revolutionary low maintenance coating is applied to the glass as part of the manufacturing process, which means that it is fused to the surface of the glass and therefore lasts the lifetime of the pane. The coating uses the rain and natural light from the sun to efficiently combat the dirt and grime that accumulates on the outside of the window. By reducing the need for manual cleaning, low maintenance glass provides an ideal and safe solution for keeping hard to reach or hazardous glazed surfaces clean. Polycarbonate is a lightweight insulating glazing product manufactured from damage resistant material and available in a range of colours. dded protection provides resistance against the effects of UV weathering. Polycarbonate is inherently strong and provides both economy and practicality - being sold in flexible sheets which are supplied cut to size and can even be trimmed on site if necessary. Today mainly 35mm and some 25mm thick polycarbonate is used for conservatory roofing, but the trend is that more consumers prefer the quality and visual clarity of high-performance glass. K2 s renowned conservatory roof is transformed by this modular system that can mimic the orangery look by the use of 4 different internal soffit brackets, 3 gutter types and optional pilasters. This combination of modular elements ensures that the tastes and requirements of each homeowner can be met. This includes the option of replacing the standard PVC-U gutter with a purpose designed aluminium high fronted feature gutter, hiding the roof bar ends and drastically improving the external appearance of a standard conservatory. Technical compliance UK specification Building Regulations Part 1 concerning loading of buildings is a key reference document when designing glazed roof structures. ll weather parameters for specific site postcode, including an assessment of the local terrain and topography, prevailing wind speeds and pressures, are taken into account to determine how the roof will be constructed. Standards for refurbishment of existing buildings are more exacting and provide options for using WER whole unit calculations in place of the established U-values. BRE 443 is a U-value reference document for non-vertical glazed surfaces. Building Regulations Part M highlights the need for doors to be fitted with low thresholds to ensure easy access for all, including wheelchair users. Building Regulations Part N specifies rules for visual manifestation of glazed elements, such as entrance doors, and deals with provision of access for cleaning. Note: -rated WER solutions for the whole window, frames and glass, can deliver insulation U-values as low as 0.8 W/m 2 K. -rated DSER (Door Set Energy Rating) solutions are now also available, enabling specification of thermally-efficient glazed wall envelopes encompassing both windows and doors.
