1 Glass-Fiber Reinforced Lightweight Concrete Part 1. General 1.1 Scope: Stone Tech Designs will provide molded composites including embedded hardware, loose connection hardware, integrated steel support, framing, metal lath, and related hardware for erection and installation in accordance with the contract documents and all applicable building codes. 1.2 Related supplementary work specified else where: A. Metal Fabrications. B. Rough Carpentry: Framing of Openings and Blocking. C. Joint Sealants and treatments. 1.3 Reference Standards: A. ASTM C39: Standard Test Method for Compressive Strength of Cylindrical Concrete Specimen. B. ASTM C947: Standard Test Method for Flexural Properties of Thin-Section GFRC C. ASTM C948: Standard Test Method for Dry and Wet Bulk Density Water Absorption, and Apparent Porosity of Thin Sections GFRC. D. ASTM C1230: Standard Test Method for Performing Tension Tests on GFRC Bonding Pads. E. ASTM E84: Standard Test Method for Surface Burning characteristics of Building Materials. F. PCI-MNL 130: Manual for Quality Control for Plants and Production of GFRC. 1.4 Substitutions: A. Not Permitted 1

2 1.5 Submittals and Samples: A. Product Sample: Submit minimum two (2) samples of 6 inch X 6 inch plates representing actual specified color, texture and finish. B. Shop Drawings: Stone Tech Designs LLC, shall provide drawings showing dimensions, joint details, layouts, materials, thickness, fabrication details, methods of support, integration with adjacent work and anchorages, and all drawings to support installation of all products. C. Product Data: Stone Tech Designs LLC shall provide manufacturers product data and step by step installation data and maintenance instructions. D. Manufactures Instructions: Stone Tech Designs LLC shall provide manufacturers instructions and recommendations for product delivery, handling and storage requirements. E. Submit Manufacturers Warranty. 1.6 Quality Assurance: A. Manufacturer shall inspect each molded piece by its quality control engineers and designers to ensure that products comply with specified requirements prior to shipment. B. All Complicated large products such as Domes, Fountains and etc, will be assembled and de-assembled at the manufacturer s site prior to shipment to ensure precision of fittings of all components. 1.7 Qualifications: A. Manufacturer s Qualifications: Manufacturer has demonstrated capabilities to produce products of high quality and scope required for any size project. The manufacturer has over 15 years of successful experience in manufacturing of GFRC panels and shapes. B. Installer Qualifications: Firms which have Five years or more experience specializing in the installation of conventional pre cast concrete elements. Third party installers must be approved by Stone Tech Designs LLC. 1.8 Delivery, Storage and handling: A. Delivery: All products will be safely wrapped, packed, labeled, palletized and delivered to the job site by Stone Tech Designs LLC. 2

3 B. Storage: Store pallets in a flat and dry location off the ground (flat, smooth and level surface), and in such a manner to prevent damage or intrusion of foreign matters. Although all our products are proven to withstand all weather conditions, it is the packaging that requires protections from the elements. Therefore all unopened packaging must be stored under a roof from time of delivery to site until time of installation. Store units upright and not stacked unless permitted by the manufacturer. C. Handling: Haul, handle and lift all packages with care and according to manufacturer s recommendation in a manner that prevents damage. Avoid excessive stress and use appropriate equipment. D. Damage responsibility: All Shipments will be carefully inspected and packed before leaving the warehouse. Except for damage caused by others, the installers are responsible for cracking, chipping or other damages to the products, after delivery, and until the installation is completed, inspected and approved by a contractor on the job site. Part 2. Product 2.1 Materials: A. GFRC is a composite material consisting of Portland Cement, alkali resistant Cem- FIL AR glass fibers, water, fine aggregates and additives. When mixed in certain proportions and manufactured under controlled conditions with appropriate equipments, it achieves physical properties that allow it to be used for precise designs, natural stone finishes and especially those applications where weight is a significant factor in the design. This mixture produces a composite which has significant flexural, tensile and high impact strength; asbestos free. B. Typical properties of raw materials: a. Cement: Portland Cement ASTM C 150, Type I. Portland Cement ASTM C 150, Type II. White Portland Cement (Low Iron). b. Glass Fiber: Cem-FIL AR Glass Fiber is a continuous, alkali resistant glass fiber filament with high durability in cement. The fiber composition lies within a critical region of the Na2O CaO ZrO2 SiO2 System. Some typical properties of Cem-FIL AR Fiber are as follows: Single filament tensile strength 3.5 GN/m_ Strand Tensile strength 1.7 GN/m_ Young s Modulus of Elasticity 72 GN/m_ Specific Gravity 2.68 Strain and breaking point (strand) 2.4% Filament Diameter 14 and 20 µ 3

4 These high Modulus glass fibers have been specially developed to reinforce cement based products. They offer: High Tensile Strength (1700 N/mm_), 3-4 times higher than that of steel. High Modulus (10 times that of polypropylene) which makes it an efficient reinforcement. Does not rust. Therefore it requires no minimum cover. Inorganic, non-flammable and no health risk. c: Sand: Silica Sand of the following composition: Silica >96% Moisture <2% Soluble Salts (i.e. alkalis) <1% Loss on Ignition <0.5% Organic Matter no effect SO3 0.4 (4000 ppm) max CI 0.6 ( 600 ppm) max d: Crushed aggregates: Many varieties of aggregates such as marbles, granite and limestone are crushed to a suitable grading for use in Light Weight Concrete, to prevent undue internal stresses and cracking. 2.2 Physical Properties : 1. 5 2.3 Dimensional Tolerances of finished products: A. Overall Heights and Width of units measured at the face adjacent to the form: 10 Feet or under +1/8 10 to 20 Feet +1/8, -3/16 20 to 30 Feet +1/8, -1/4 Each additional 10 Feet +1/16 per 10 ft or +1/4 whichever is greater. B. Thickness: Skin thickness: +1/4, -0 Side return thickness: +3/8, 0 Panel depth: +3/8, -1/8 C. Angular deviation 1/32 per 3 depth or 1/16 of plane side mold: total whichever is greater D: Variation from Square 1/8 per 6 or 1/4 in or designated curvature: total whichever is greater Part 3: Executions 3.1 Pre Installation Examinations: A. Clean surfaces thoroughly before installation. B: Inspect job conditions and field dimensions and provide markings in sufficient details for correct installation. C: Installation pieces are manufactured to the exact and precise dimensions ordered. D: Contractors shall install these pieces in a true and plumb fashion. E: Report any discrepancies in design dimensions and field dimensions which could adversely affect the installation, to the distributor as soon as discovered. 3.2 Erection: A: Installers primary responsibility is to follow manufacturer s installation guides FULLY. B: Locate prewelded and premounted hardware and miscellaneous steel support. C: Make sure these conform to the erection drawings and plan layouts. D: Units must be temporarily secured into position until final bolting, welding or grouting is executed. E: Following installation, alignment of pieces must be performed to ensure that the entire installation conforms to the plans and tolerances are kept in balance. 3.3 Repairs, patching and cleaning: 5

6 A: Imbedded countersunk fasteners and damages must be patched using the same bedding compound used to fill joints. B: Patch blemishes occurring during transportation and handling or erection using a patching mixture matching the color and texture of surrounding surface. C: Clean panels using methods and materials which are in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions and guidelines. 6

7 4.0 Warranty: MANUFACTURER S LIMITED WARRANTY STONE TECH DESIGNS, LLC., WARRANTS THAT THIS PRODUCT IS FREE OF ANY DEFECTS WHICH MAY HAVE OCCURRED IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS FOR A PERIOD OF THREE (3) YEARS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE OF THE PRODUCT PROVIDED THAT THE PURCHASER COMPLIES WITH THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS. TO MAKE A CLAIM UNDER THIS WARRANTY, THE PURCHASER SHALL, WITHIN THREE (3) YEARS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE, RETURN THE PRODUCT TO THE MANUFACTURER WITH ALL SHIPPING, HANDLING AND POSTAGE PRE-PAID BY THE PURCHASER WITH A WRITTEN STATEMENT OF THE PARTICULAR MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND PROOF OF ITS PURCHASE. IF THE PRODUCT DOES IN FACT HAVE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND IS TIMELY RETURNED, STONE TECH DESIGNS, LLC WILL REPLACE IT WITH A COMPARABLE PRODUCT OR REPAIR THE MANUFACTURING DEFECT. EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY SET FORTH AND LIMITED HEREIN, STONE TECH DESIGNS, LLC EXCLUDES AND NEGATES ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. STONE TECH DESIGNS LLC S LIABILITY RESPONSIBILITY PURSUANT TO THIS MANUFACTURER S LIMITED WARRANTY SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE PRODUCT TOGETHER WITH ANY SHIPPING FEE, HANDLING AND POSTAGE CHARGES INCURRED IN RESHIPPING THE REPAIRED OR REPLACED PRODUCT TO PURCHASER. THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT SHALL BE THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AND RECOURSE OF PURCHASER. PURCHASER HEREBY RELEASES STONE TECH DESIGNS, LLC AND ITS AGENTS, PARTNERS, EMPLOYEES AND REPRESENTATIVES FROM ANY LIABILITY RELATING TO OR ARISING FROM THE PRODUCT AND ITS INSTALLATION, USE AND MAINTENANCE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES. THE PURCHASER AGREES AND UNDERSTANDS THAT ANY FAILURE TO STRICTLY COMPLY WITH THE WARRANTY PROCEDURES SET FORTH HEREIN SHALL VOID THE MANUFACTURER S LIMITED WARRANTY. PURCHASER MAY HAVE OTHER RIGHTS AND REMEDIES AVAILABLE PURSUANT TO THE LAWS OF PURCHASER S JURISDICTION. THE LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS OF THE MANUFACTURER S WARRANTY SET FORTH HEREIN ARE MADE AND GIVEN TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY APPLICABLE LAW AND, IF APPLICABLE LAW PROHIBITS LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS OF RIGHTS OR REMEDIES, THE REMAINDER OF SUCH EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS SHALL BE ENFORCED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY SUCH APPLICABLE LAW. NOTICE AND DISCLOSURES: PURCHASER ACKNOWLEDGES RECEIPT OF THE FOLLOWING DISCLOSURES AND AGREES TO ACCEPT THE PRODUCT SUBJECT THERETO: 1. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DUPLICATE THE EXACT CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PRODUCT BY PICTURES, BROCHURES, PRINT OR ELECTRONIC MEDIA. COLORS, TEXTURES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PRODUCT MAY VARY FROM WHAT IS SHOWN IN ANY PRINT OR ELECTRONIC MEDIA. SUCH SLIGHT VARIATION DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A MANUFACTURER S DEFECT AND PURCHASER AGREES TO ACCEPT THE PRODUCT WITH SUCH SLIGHT VARIATIONS. 2. STONE TECH DESIGNS, LLC SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE TO ANY PARTY FOR THE FAILURE OF THE PRODUCT TO COMPLY WITH LOCAL, STATE OR NATIONAL CODES, REGULATIONS, LAWS, STATUTES AND ORDINANCES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, APPLICABLE BUILDING AND FIRE CODES. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER TO PURCHASE THE CORRECT SIZE AND DIMENSIONS OF THE PRODUCT AND TO COMPLY WITH SUCH BUILDING AND FIRE CODES AND OTHER APPLICABLE LAWS, REGULATIONS, ORDINANCES. PURCHASER IS ADVISED TO REVIEW APPLICABLE BUILDING AND FIRE CODES AND OTHER APPLICABLE LAWS REGARDING THE SIZE, DIMENSIONS, 7

8 COMPOSITION AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PRODUCT PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE PRODUCT. PURCHASER HEREBY RELEASES AND DISCHARGES STONE TECH DESIGNS, LLC AND ITS PARTNERS, AGENTS, EMPLOYEES AND REPRESENTATIVES FROM ANY LIABILITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE OF THE PRODUCT TO COMPLY WITH SUCH BUILDING AND FIRE CODES AND APPLICABLE LAW. TERMS OF SALE: 1. CREDIT TERMS: ALL INVOICES ARE DUE WITHIN 15 DAYS OF INVOICE DATE. ANY OUTSTANDING BALANCE AFTER THIS TIME FRAME WILL BE CHARGED INTEREST AT THE RATE OF 1.5% PER MONTH AND WILL BE DUE IMMEDIATELY. ANY PAYMENT RECEIVED WILL BE APPLIED TO THE OLDEST INVOICE FIRST IF NO INVOICE NUMBER IS PROVIDED. SHOULD THE UNDERSIGNED FAIL TO COMPLETE PAYMENT AFTER A PERIOD OF THREE (3) MONTHS, HE/SHE AGREES TO PAY ALL COSTS OF COLLECTION INCLUDING REASONABLE ATTORNEY S FEES WHETHER SUIT BE BROUGHT OR NOT. 2.OFFSET AGREEMENT: WE AGREE AND/OR AUTHORIZE ANY FUNDS DUE TO OUR COMPANY AS VENDOR, SUPPLIER, LABOR OR CONTRACTOR TO BE PAID TO Stone Tech Designs LLC, IN CASE OF BANKRUPTCY, DEFAULT OR NON- PAYMENT. 3. DELIVERY AND INDEMNIFICATION: PURCHASER MUST PROVIDE DETAILED EASY TO UNDERSTAND DIRECTIONS FOR ALL DELIVERIES. Stone Tech Designs LLC S RESPONSIBILITY FOR DELIVERY CEASES AT THE CURBSIDE OR STREET FRONTAGE OF THE ADDRESS FOR DELIVERY. SHOULD THE PURCHASER REQUIRE Stone Tech Designs LLC TO ENTER UPON PRIVATE PROPERTY TO MAKE DELIVERY, THE PURCHASER SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PROVIDE SAFE AND ADEQUATE ACCESS AND SUCH DELIVERY SHALL BE AT THE RISK OF THE PURCHASER AND IN CONSIDERATION OF Stone Tech Designs LLC PROVIDING ON-SITE DELIVERY, THE PURCHASER AGREES TO INDEMNIFY Stone Tech Designs LLC FOR ALL LIABILITY IN RESPECT OF ANY DAMAGE TO PUBLIC ON PRIVATE PROPERTY AND EVEN INJURY OR WRONG WHATSOEVER WHICH MAY RESULT THEREFROM. 4. DELIVERY SITE CONDITIONS: Stone Tech Designs LLC RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE SITE FOR DELIVERY REQUESTED BY THE PURCHASER IS SUITABLE FOR SUCH DELIVERY AND Stone Tech Designs LLC MAY REFUSE TO DELIVER TO A SITE IF Stone Tech Designs LLC DEEMS IT UNSAFE OR UNSUITABLE. THE PURCHASER SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL COSTS AND DAMAGES INCURRED WHERE ADEQUATE ACCESS FOR DELIVERY CANNOT BE OBTAINED. 5. UNATTENDED DELIVERY SITE: WHERE DELIVERY OF PRODUCTS IS TO BE TO AN UNATTENDED SITE, Stone Tech Designs LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE TO PRODUCTS OR PROPERTY. ABSENCE OF PURCHASER S AGENT AT TIME AND SITE OF DELIVERY RELIEVES Stone Tech Designs LLC OF ANY LIABILITY FOR THEFT, VANDALISM OR OTHER LOSS TO DELIVERED GOODS. 6. DELAY: Stone Tech Designs LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DELAY IN DELIVERY OR NON-DELIVERY RESULTING FROM ANY CAUSE BEYOND ITS CONTROL INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: PLANT AND EQUIPMENT BREAKDOWNS, INDUSTRIAL STOPPAGES OR RAW MATERIAL SHORTAGES. IF Stone Tech Designs LLC IS UNABLE TO COMPLETE DELIVERY OF ANY PART OF AN ORDER, THE PURCHASER SHALL ACCEPT SUCH PART OF THE ORDER AS Stone Tech Designs LLC IS ABLE TO DELIVER AND THE PURCHASER SHALL PAY FOR THE PART DELIVERED PRO RATA AT THE SAME RATES AS THE WHOLE OF THE ORDER AGREED TO BE SOLD AND ON THE SAME TERMS OF PAYMENT. 7. QUANTITIES: THE TYPE, SPECIFICATIONS AND QUANTITY OF PRODUCTS DELIVERED AND DETAILED ON THE INVOICE MUST BE CHECKED BY THE BUYER AT THE TIME OF DELIVERY FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE PURCHASER S ORDER. VARIATIONS BETWEEN ACTUAL QUANTITIES DELIVERED AND THOSE SHOWN ON THE INVOICE MUST BE NOTED ON ALL COPIES OF THE INVOICE AND SIGNED BY THE PURCHASER. BILLING WILL BE BASED ON THOSE QUANTITIES OF PRODUCTS SHOWN TO BE SUPPLIED AS PER SIGNED INVOICE. ANY CLAIM FOR ALLEGED SHORT DELIVERY OF PRODUCTS MUST BE MADE IN WRITING WITHIN 24 HOURS, OTHERWISE IT WILL BE ACCEPTED BY THE PURCHASER AND 8

9 IN ABSENCE OF ANY CLAIM THE PURCHASER SHALL BE LIABLE TO PAY FOR THE FULL QUANTITY OF PRODUCTS LISTED ON THE Stone Tech Designs LLC S INVOICE. 8. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: Stone Tech Designs LLC ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING FROM TECHNICAL ADVICE OR ASSISTANCE PROVIDED TO THE PURCHASER. ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE PROVIDED BY Stone Tech Designs LLC IS FOR PURCHASER S GUIDANCE ONLY AND PURCHASER AGREES TO RELY SOLELY ON ITS OWN TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AND ANY INSTALLATION, PAINTING, ETC. UNLESS PURCHASER HAS SOUGHT FORMAL INSTALLTION SERVICE FROM Stone Tech Designs LLC. 9. MODIFICATION OF TERMS: ANY CHANGES TO THIS SIGNED AGREEMENT MUST BE IN WRITING AND SIGNED BY BOTH PURCHASER AND A LAWFUL AGENT OF Stone Tech Designs LLC. 10. SEVERABILITY: IF ANY TERMS, PROVISIONS, COVENANTS OR CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT IS HELD BY A COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION TO BE INVALID, VOID, UNENFORCEABLE, THE REMAINDER OF THE PROVISIONS SHALL REMAIN IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT AND SHALL IN NO WAY BE AFFECTED, IMPAIRED OR INVALIDATED. 11. APPLICABILITY: THIS AGREEMENT IS MADE BETWEEN PURCHASER AND Stone Tech Designs LLC. ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS HEREIN APPLY TO ALL PURCHASES FROM THIS DATE FORWARD MADE BY PURCHASER FROM Stone Tech Designs LLC. These specifications are copyrighted.
