2 Introduction The Belaire Designer Fencing System is NZ Owned, Designed and Manufactured. PRODUCT NAME: BelAire Designer Fencing providing the Classic, Signature and Estate series of designer walls and fences APPLICABLE IN: All NZ Wind Regions- A, B & C. BelAire have installed walls of varying heights into all NZ Wind Regions and Terrain conditions. Page 2 DESCRIPTION: A Modular Wall System comprises of Fibre Cement/EPS Composite Sandwich Panels supported by Formed high tensile galvanised steel support columns. APPLICATION & USE: Typically used as Acoustic Sound Barriers or where a Masonry look wall is desired. Ideal for high wind area s, unstable ground conditions, difficult access sites and were conventional strip footings aren t allowed or suitable. SAFETY: The lightweight nature of the product enhances safety on site and allows very fast construction times without the need for cranes and heavy digging equipment. ADVANTAGES: Fast construction times No strip footings mean the wall has room for expansion and contraction within the unique post system. Termite resistant Fire resistant with a non combustible surface Will not rot Maintenance free Smooth exterior surface which accepts all exterior grade paints. PROPERTIES: Wall Panels: Fibre Cement outer skins with an EPS core. Composite Panel Density: 15.49kg m² (based on 70mm proprietary sound panel) Support columns: Formed high tensile galvanised steel, top coated with a conversion primer and universal grey finish ready to accept self priming exterior grade paints. Example - If you have a 2400mm panel and you are using Classic posts then you will have a 2530mm post centre to post centre measurement. 8 Structural Engineering Assessment Stage 1 Fire Rating Information October 2005 Post Material: High tensile steel non combustible Wall Panel: Fibre cement/polystyrene sandwich panel Fibre Cement: non combustible Page 8 Polystyrene core: The polystyrene core of the panel is encased on all four edges with a galvanised steel channel as part of the BelAire Fencing System. The polystyrene, which contains a fire-retardant additive, will self-extinguish if exposed to a direct flame and will not sustain a fire. However, if the BelAire Fencing System is installed correctly the polystyrene will never be exposed to a direct flame. The BelAire Fencing System is designed to withstand a passing fire and is approved by the NSW Sutherland Bush Fire Brigade for use in their Fire Belt area. This is because the garden wall system is a potential substitute for brick or concrete block wall system which are generally expected to have a design life of about 50 years. Note: If the proposed design life is 25 years (say), the wind loading on the wall system may be reduced. Page 9 3. The following terrain categories, in accordance with AS/NZS :2002, detail where BelAire Light and BelAire Classic standard wall designs can be installed: 3.1 Terrain Category 2 (TC 2) Open terrain including sea coast areas, airfields, grassland with few well-scattered obstructions, such as isolated trees and uncut grass, having heights from 1.5 m to 10.0 m. 3.2 Terrain Category 2.5 (TC 2.5) Terrain with few trees, isolated obstructions, such as agricultural land, canefields or long grass, up to 600 mm high. This category is intermediate between TC 2 and TC 3 and represents the terrain in developing outer urban areas. 3.3 Terrain Category 3 (TC 3) Terrain with numerous closely-spaced obstructions having the size of houses. The minimum density of houses and trees shall be equivalent of 10 house-size obstructions per hectare. Substantial well-established trees shall be considered as obstructions.
